I’ve seen Def Leppard many times in concert, Rick Allen with 2 arms, and 1 arm and there is absolutely no difference in his drumming, he is so awesome!
I had opportunity to talk to Joe Elliott once before a concert they were doing. Told him that drummer is the best one out there because of the sheer determination he had to overcome losing his arm & it's HUGE that he had such supportive band members & friends in Def Leppard. They'll always be my favorite group.
Rick lost his arm in a car accident. The band all stood by him and gave Rick the time he needed to recover and learn a new way to play the drums again. I have more respect for this band then any other.
You have to respect any band that sticks with their drummer when he loses his arm in a horrible accident but says he can learn to play with his feet! Inspirational!!
As a black girl born in 72, Def Leppard was my band. Still love em. From the UK, they sealed by admiration when drummer Allen lost his arm in an accident. They took a break, made him a special drum kit and hit the tours.
Not all good rock songs are purely sexual. Smoke On the Water, Free Bird, Money, Helter Skelter,, Behind Blue Eyes, and Pinball Wizard are examples of superb rock songs that don’t need any sexual reference to be amazing.
They were just breaking through when the drummer had a road accident he lost his arm they waited until he was able with adapted drum set up to play again never thought of replacing him. Fabulous group.
True friends, who stuck with their bandmate. And they only became MORE popular after Rick bounced back, w/his custom set and learning to play with his new foot pedals. They were such a great live show!
@gaetagirl I was around they had broken into the charts and were establishing themselves when the accident happened would be a longer account always had a very loyal fan base. Love them.

The line you missed the guitarist sing was "You've got the peaches, I've got the cream". These guys have always been the most loyal people to the members of the band there has ever been in Rock music. When the drummer lost his arm in a car accident ( he was only 16 or 17 at the time. ) the rest of the band put their careers on hold until he could learn to play with one arm. Later when one of them was suffering from drug issues they took a break so he could get treatment and later when another of the group was diagnosed with cancer they took time off for him to get treatment hoping he could recover and rejoin them, but sadly he passed and they sought out a new member which they found and they are still producing albums today.
The lyrics to that one part are "You got the peaches, I got the cream, sweet to taste, saccharine..." Rascal Flats does sing "Life is a Highway", but they are singing a cover. It was originally sung by Tom Cochrane....the only version you should listen to! :) Tom Cochrane was in the band Red Rider, who sang another great song " Lunatic Fringe", on the soundtrack of the movie Vision Quest. A song you should listen to and a movie you should watch!
Love Red Rider awesome band then Tom became successful as a solo artist. Lunatic Fringe damn haven't thought about that song for over... never mind, lol. Been reliving my teen years with Aldo Nova songs like Fantasy, Monkey On Your Back, and Medicine Man, cheers.
Rick Allen, the drummer, lost his arm when he was 21. He'd been with the band since he was 15. At the height of their success, they waited until he healed and re-taught himself how to play. He has a special kit, in which his left pedal could emulate what his left arm could do. He still suffers PTSD from the accident to this day and sees drumming and painting as therapeutic healing for him.
Ok you got my attention with this one. Great 80s band. First the song flat out is about an amorous event. They are not singing about baking a cake. I’m being appropriate in that statement. This band is amazing for many reasons. First the drum set is special because the drummer lost his arm in a violent car wreck where the seatbelt severed his arm. Rick Allen had a second pedal added to the drum kit and relearned to play with one arm. Next … 3 guitarists. Lead, bass and rhythm guitars give a harder sound to the band. Lead guitarist Steve Clark was a classically trained musician who is credited with a lot of their songwriting. Unfortunately he was also a raging alcoholic. Although the band tried repeatedly to get him clean, Steve died of alcohol poisoning in 1991 at the age of 31. RIP Steve. This band has been through a lot but still can rock with the best. Another thing that made them popular is that they ALL can sing. A lot of 80s bands had a lead singer but the other members don’t sing. As you can see from the live concert audience, these boys attracted lots of women to the front rows but also were credible to the guys in the audience for the talent and hard rock sound. Very successful. Their concerts were legendary. They still tour today. Hope you do more older groups. They really had some great music.

The drummer is using that “electronic drum” set because he lost an arm in a car crash. The band waited a year for him to master using that type of drums before continuing touring or recording music because he was their drummer and their friend and they wanted him to remain their drummer ❤

I bought this vinyl when I was a teen, my mom heard the lyrics and came running into my room and threw it in to the trash. Talking about “where did you get that disgusting music?!” Little did moms know that all she did is make me want it more 😂
I have mad respect for this band. When the drummer lost his arm they waited on him to adapt to a special drum set. They could have replaced him but they didn't. So BIG props to the members of this band!!

One of my favorite bands when I was in High School in the 80s. What they've been through as a band would've caused other bands to break up from the trauma. Their current guitarist was diagnosed with cancer & survived. They are a band with a thick skin.
My favorite!! Took my 16 year old son to their concert in Atlanta in the 80's. FANTASTIC!! We ROCKED!!! I'm 71 and still blast this song when I hear it. Lol
Great reaction, guys! Y'all will probably like "Poison" by Alice Cooper if you haven't seen it yet. Btw, Rascal Flatts covered "Life is a Highway". It was originally done by Tom Cochrane... if you didn't know that already. Love you guys!

Born in 64. I’m the same age as these guys. They started together in their teens. Always stuck together including when the drummer lost his arm. They are so amazing. I saw them at the saddle dome in Calgary Pyromania tour. Btw life is a highway is originally by Canadian Tom Cochran (Red Rider). Massive hit in 1991. It was covered by a number of bands including Rascal Flatts. I have so much more history I could tell. Love love Def Lepard. I recommend Action, too late for love, and two steps behind.
Def Leppard is my generation :) lol....I saw them in concert during this tour...I have always been impressed that the drummer could do what he does with one arm.....when he had his accident the band didn't flinch and made sure he got what he needed to adapt and continue on with them.
When they were just starting out, they opened for the stones. After hearing them, Jagger said the stones should be opening for them. I was 65 yesterday, I remember hearing about the car accident like it was also yesterday.

It was a wreck in his car.
Technically, a car wreck where he was driving, but same basic idea.
@@dizzylizzybeth yep you're right i was thinking Cliff Burton from metallica and he died.
Seatbelt severed his arm at the shoulder.
@@Mainecoonlady. correct.
And they STILL put on a great show!
It’s cool when someone watches them and does not realize the drummer only has one arm. Bravo
So hello. I am watching your videos lately. My oldest son wrestles in college, and is a senior. So watching you all's reaction to music I grew up with, and witnessing similar reaction...just...I can't thank you enough for connecting in a genuine way. It reminds me how we connect with past present and future generations. Just THANK you and keep doing what your doing!! And God bless you all, and have fun in school!
I appreciate how these young guys find the cool in old songs. A really great song transcends time and era. A really great song is always great. Thanks for giving props to good music of all genres, from all eras.
I am an old guy, grew up listening to R&B. When MTv started the first group of that kind of music i hear was Def Leppard and have loved them since. I have seen them in concert several times.
I bought this vinyl when I was a teen, my mom heard the lyrics and came running into my room and threw it in to the trash. Talking about “where did you get that disgusting music?!”
Little did moms know that all she did is make me want it more 😂
I got that reaction from my mom with "Darling Nicki" by Prince! I bought it about 5 time's before she gave up lol!
My mom did the same thing to me with the Rolling Stones album with Let's Spend the Night Together!!
*ROCK NEEDS TO COME BACK.* PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE MISSING!!
Check out PLUSH! They are a newer all female band with 70s 80s and 90s influences mixed with some modern rock
@@stevevacek5155 Thanks!
I have seen them in concert 5 times and they keep getting better. This tour I was in 3rd row. Get a chance go see them live.
This was my 1st concert in 1988! I got to hear Pour Some Sugar on Me LIVE!!! 🎵🎵🤩
I have mad respect for this band. When the drummer lost his arm they waited on him to adapt to a special drum set. They could have replaced him but they didn't. So BIG props to the members of this band!!
My favorite rock band of all time. They've sold over 100 million albums world wide! I've seen them live 14 times! They rock hard EVERY time!
Haha..living on a prayer..not prairie..I freaking love you young men.. so charismatic, inteiigence and open minds crate great interaction with each othr..my son is 39 now but stll used to sing 'poor some sugar on an egg'( he was about 7) lol.. in the car when we blasted this.. 😄🤘
ALL HAIL THEEE ONE ARM DRUMMER!!!
Fellas Def Leppard have lots of music that U guys have to react. There a British Band that ran thru the 1980's. Check out there stuff.
Get to see them and Journey this summer. Here in ATL. CANT WAIT! WE had the best music. Glad yall found it too. ❤️❤️
Another banger is Still Of The Night-Whitesnake..Y`all will definitely enjoy the video! Keep On Rockin'
YES!!!! And Here I Go Again, or Slow and Easy or Slide It In!
BEST SONG EVERRRRRR
Yes!!! Whitesnake "STILL OF THE NIGHT" (original video) straight up banger!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still of the Night is my favorite Whitesnake song
You’re welcome boys!! Best hair band of the 80’s. Love watching you watch them!! 💜💛💜💛
Best drummer ever 🔥
Fantastic band! Saw them a couple years ago and they still got it!!
One of my favorite bands when I was in High School in the 80s. What they've been through as a band would've caused other bands to break up from the trauma. Their current guitarist was diagnosed with cancer & survived. They are a band with a thick skin.
This was the stuff I grew up with. So glad to see younger people enjoying it!
I seen them live over 30 years ago and the drummer was playing then with 1 arm that was pretty cool and still playing till today
I seen them on this tour...a band called Tesla opened up for them, another great band yall should check out too.
This ole gal saw them in concert. Man I could make a list to so many your watching. I always call it my driving jam. Watch the Scorpions they are from Germany originally. Great rock!
Love this song growing up see how they played instruments no computer tune playing the instrument real vocal talent no auto tune real music boys
i miss rock bands like this the hair bands i loooove
The 70s and 80s were the decades that I grew up, and I'm so happy I did! The music was (and still is) AMAZING!!!
“Life is a highway” was originally sang by Tom Cochrane in 1991 off his “Mad Mad world” album
I listened to this cassette tape my senior year in high school so much I had to buy it again and again Good 80s music
You guys are confusing Queen's "We Will Rock You" with "Pour Some Sugar On Me"! Both bangers but very different. Great choice for a reaction! ☮ ❤ 🎶
Watching all my faves tonite. Def Leopard has alot of good songs
The drummer lost his arm in a car accident. He taught himself how to play the drums not only with just one arm but using both of his feet.
I have seen them in concert three times in my life and every time was great! They are amazing to experience live.
Can't believe none of you saw that the drummer has only one arm!!! Crazy! What a talent.
Im still waiting for yall to watch motley crue "wildside"
exactly
I’m so stunned that no one has noticed the drummer with one arm playing without skipping a beat!
His arm was amputated after a car accident. Who knew he'd play drums again with only 1arm. Absolutely amazing
Def Leppard is my generation :) lol....I saw them in concert during this tour...I have always been impressed that the drummer could do what he does with one arm.....when he had his accident the band didn't flinch and made sure he got what he needed to adapt and continue on with them.
They do NOT have a bad song ❤❤❤
When they were just starting out, they opened for the stones. After hearing them, Jagger said the stones should be opening for them. I was 65 yesterday, I remember hearing about the car accident like it was also yesterday.
Yea the drummer lost his arm in an accident.he was preforming with one arm.hes awsome for sure
2:36 - that is Queen's "We will Rock you". Timeless rock anthem 😁
Who's Def Leppard?
Remember saying that?
All of Gen-X nearly died that day. 🤦🏼♀️🤣
Yep! Good one! 😂😂😂
That was one hell of a concert Tesla opened. At micknickles , Arena Denver, co
