I do think you are correct, but I see sherlock as coded with high functioning autism, meaning another cause of his immaturity or his ability to get along with children better than adults is just that his brain is wired differently Whether it be from trauma or autism, I think he just gets along with children because he thinks in a very similar way. Seeing the world in absolutes, not really worrying about the consequences of his actions and having little to no filter most of the time, it makes sense that he would connect more with people who share his way of thinking If you couldn't tell I really like see neurodivergent characters in media and due to being neurodivergent myself, I hyperfixate on them an analyse them to pieces lol

So we can safely say that Sherlock has empathy and is actually a rather caring person.
Some psychologist dude actually stated that sherlock isn't a sociopath but seems to have taken on more autistic traits. so yes, this video makes sense. don't be surprised.
Oh of course. I saw an article of a young man who went to his therapist saying "I think I'm a sociopath! I relate a lot to Sherlock!" for the therapist to explain to him that it is quite possible that he might be on the Autistic Spectrum, and not sociopathic.
0:03 is like the sweetest line in the whole season it gives me so many happy feelings!!! Sherlock actually considers John to be his family and I think that’s the most amazing thing ever, and if you don’t agree then leave
Sherlock was always sweet. I believe he was written as an arse only because Moftiss thought that was somehow cooler. Even in the original works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle he was awkward at best, and I'm glad people are realising his sweetness. 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for making this video.
I think that at first if you show someone as a jerk it also helps to expand and make character development more evident and so even the slightest gesture of sweetness means a lot coming from him and based on how everyone treated sherlock which could actually happen with his ability I do think he closed himself off and it helps to provide ways for character development and he is trying to learn how to open up and let people know that he does care about them
There are definitely moments in the book where he is a complete arse - yes he is kind etc. But it's shown he's not always an easy person to be friends with
Sherlock is so nice to children because he knows what it’s like to be traumatised as a child he is just so sweet to children though it makes my heart melt 🥰
I have three theories- -Sherlock was misdiagnosed or mistakenly referred to as a sociopath as a child when he was actually just traumatized and othered and acting out -Mycroft actually is a sociopath, really only able to form a bond with his brother but has very little empathy for others and Sherlock emulated him and his distaste for sentiment when he was young, believing he was the same way -Or Sherlock fully knows he’s not a sociopath and uses it as an excuse for his bluntness, kind of like his preference for not having relationships though he was able to form something with the Woman. It’s a defense mechanism/way to keep people at a distance.
I definitely think the sociopath thing is a defense mechanism, he's traumatized and may want to avoid getting close to people in fear of losing them. Then.. alas.. he lost Mary 😭 I imagine both Sherlock & Mycroft to be Autistic, but I do get kind of sociopathic vibes from Mycroft just as you described. Could be a comorbidity.

That day was supposed to be one of the best in his life, he had worked so hard on all the little details to make it perfect for Mary and John, and for someone like Sherlock who barely knows social gatherings that must've taken so much effort. It was heartbreaking to see the one person who was the most enthusiastic abt it all ending up like that. :( It's not just him feeling lonely, in that scene he actually WAS lonely - looking around at all of his friends and hoping someone would catch his eye (he even gets so happy seeing Janine noticing him, it's so sad) - I think his friends' should've made an effort to not let him feel alone/out of place, knowing this might possibly be the only party in his entire life and one that mattered so much.
I grew up on the Sherlock movie with RDJ, and so I was reluctant to watch this version. Ten minutes into the first episode and I was hooked. Best Sherlock EVER!!!
People who’ve seen this show and say they don’t like Sherlock because he’s mean or annoying or a bad person did not understand the show. This show is a masterclass in having a character go through major growth without it feeling forced. His development is so beautiful and it warms my heart to see a formally closed off character finally have the love they deserve
I read “love and support in the form of music” as “love and support in the form of depression” cause it went by so fast and I almost choked on my water-🥲
sherlock is actually such a good comforter, like when he helps mrs hudson, sarah, even the little girl- he was caring and reassuring- HE IS GENUINELY SO SOFT he really is a good man
3:05 can I just say. Ben's eyes are the most attractive part of him? They often are light blue, grey, but here they look like emeralds! The way they reflect light is fascinating!
You get me!!! T-T Even when I watched a couple episodes of Sherlock and thought "he's so soft/sweet, wtf" I was confused because people said he's rude and cold...he's really a sweetheart though!! I have to re-evaluate who I hang out with. XD
4:24 Ok thanks for pointing that out cuz I never knew that LMAO Also most of the show is just Sherlock being sweet but pretending not to be unless it's his friends
bro this makes me wanna watch the show so much more, I knew Sherlock was aroace but the fact the didn't make him emotionless like so many aroace characters, PERFECT!
"This is family" "THATS WHY HE STAYS!" look, whether you ship johnlock or not, sherlock jumping the friend title and considering John family just proves how much he loves John, romantic or otherwise. The fact that he says this in front of both John and Mycroft as well comes off as his own way of showing vulnerability in a way. Not only is he entrusting Mycroft with this fact about his emotions (which he is notoriously bad at showing) he is also reassuring and letting John know that he is the most important person in his life.
youtube keeps recommending me sherlock edits im-- ANYWAY the sMILE at 1:45 he's like "aw john chip n pin machines aren't sentient but I'll excuse you for being an idiot because it's adorable"
I totally see myself in Sherlock... Everyone says I'm a sociopathic, wired person and I have zero emotions... even my family members say I'm a robot with a steel heart. But I feel everything inside and I won't think twice to give my life for the ones I care... And I have a very soft spot for kids and animals... Because I find they're pure I am 23yrs old autistic and my personality type is INTP-t... So BBC Sherlock is only similar character for me I've ever seen in my life...
"This is a private matter"
"John stays."

I can never tell if Sherlock is being sarcastic when he said he helped the chip shop owner put up some shelves
Sherlock has one of the BEST character development storylines in all tv history
"by gang i'm off to relapse" JSHJSHJSHSJHSJ
I love the connection, Sherlock and John have. They're actually brothers.... Sometimes they hate each other, but they love each other always.
the entire sherlock series and the edits to this day defines its worth and fandom and why it will always be up there on my A list
I never believed that he was a sociopath. Thank you for making a video proving that lol.
Dude, Sherlock loves John so much. SO much. It makes my heart melt
"BYE GANG I'M OFF TO RELAPSE" PFFFFFFFFFTTT
sherlock is actually such a good comforter, like when he helps mrs hudson, sarah, even the little girl- he was caring and reassuring- HE IS GENUINELY SO SOFT
he really is a good man
THE GUN SHE WAS GOING TO UNALIVE WITH ABSVSHSHDGAJ THAT GOT ME
s4 is so underrated like i understand WHY people don't like it but theres so much good character development in there
How he gently touches Mrs. Huson’s face and asks her if she’s alright
One of those heartwarming moments where Sherlock is truly himself without the "sociopath" mask, I love it!
'bye gang I'm off to relapse'
Do I laugh or do I cry the heck-
both
The fandom loves you. Thank you for reigniting the fire in our souls.
3:05 can I just say. Ben's eyes are the most attractive part of him? They often are light blue, grey, but here they look like emeralds! The way they reflect light is fascinating!
bless your soul for keeping this fandom alive
You get me!!! T-T Even when I watched a couple episodes of Sherlock and thought "he's so soft/sweet, wtf" I was confused because people said he's rude and cold...he's really a sweetheart though!! I have to re-evaluate who I hang out with. XD
4:24 Ok thanks for pointing that out cuz I never knew that LMAO
Also most of the show is just Sherlock being sweet but pretending not to be unless it's his friends
1:35 my fav duo
*sad and soggy*
Sherlock is a good big brother uwu
6:51 Love us a Risk yet he loves John and gladly takes that rusk for John your welcome 😌
They name drop aspergers in the show, in the hounds of Baskerville. Idk why EVERYONE forgets this
Awwwwwww Sherlock is the sweetest boy he deserves all the love UwU
I dont know how anyone could be shocked hes suCH A GIANT TEDDY BEAR SOMEONE HUG THIS POOR DEPRESSED MAN
6:22 That headbut gets me every time
bro this makes me wanna watch the show so much more, I knew Sherlock was aroace but the fact the didn't make him emotionless like so many aroace characters, PERFECT!
The bit about putting up some shelves😂😂 omfg I'm dying
The little ‘good luck charlie’….that hit me like 10 seconds later and I couldn’t stop laughing
johns unhappy slappy- 😭😭
4:54 why is that so cute
"This is family"
"THATS WHY HE STAYS!"
look, whether you ship johnlock or not, sherlock jumping the friend title and considering John family just proves how much he loves John, romantic or otherwise. The fact that he says this in front of both John and Mycroft as well comes off as his own way of showing vulnerability in a way. Not only is he entrusting Mycroft with this fact about his emotions (which he is notoriously bad at showing) he is also reassuring and letting John know that he is the most important person in his life.
THIS EDITING IS INCREDIBLE JSBFHD i laughed so much, thank for this gift
Sherlock: inhales
Just Bee: *zooming intensifies*
youtube keeps recommending me sherlock edits im-- ANYWAY the sMILE at 1:45 he's like "aw john chip n pin machines aren't sentient but I'll excuse you for being an idiot because it's adorable"
THE "PUTTING UP SHELVES" PART- OMG LMAO IM LITERALLY DYING 💀🤚
I have been waiting forever to see this!!!!!
The Final Problem is my FAVORITE episode because it shows how much he’s grown as a character and how much he cares for others 😭😭😭
The putting up shelves got me hahaha
listening to this with my eyes closed when feeling numb and down really helps. thank you Mr. Cucumber for the free therapy.
Because I find they're pure
I am 23yrs old autistic and my personality type is INTP-t... So BBC Sherlock is only similar character for me I've ever seen in my life...
I love your acc omg pls don't ever stop uploading
