I have to say there's a new found appreciation for Martin. He does a great job. Unlike other portrayals of Watson he is not dramatic. He speaks curtly and has no-nonsense pragmatic attitude about him. With absolutely no tears in his eyes or any growling, he made us feel the depth of his sorrow and his anger.
lollipopfop he doesn't 'tell everything' as you're putting it, he's speaking as fast as he thinks, about the case and it's* details, and in the end he usually deduces that behind all the seemingly complicated, absurd, and almost unbelievable occurrences, something simple and straightforward is the answer. symbolism/ a cipher used as a warning turns out to be the work of a crime syndicate. someone who seems to be able to kidnap people in broad daylight; a cab driver. a gigantic hound; the product of gas and scare tactics.
THAT was when I started to like Anderson. Before, he'd be firmly under the "Bastard who hates Sherlock and sleeps with Donovan" category. Now, well... I loved the scene where he told Lestrade "He's coming back". He's not that stupid, after all. As to why Greg couldn't see it. I think he did, but he's buried it, knowing/believing it was the grief talking. Poor Greg and John, those two were really hurting.

Like obviously this was made to heavily imply Sherlock returning from his fake suicide but all I can think about is the fact that this was a video that he made because he wasn't attending John's birthday. "I will be with you again very soon." Oh Sherlock honey, I'm sure it was only one evening of being apart.
Do we know when in canon John's birthday was? Maybe Sherlock already suspected he might have to "die" and fitted his words to have a double meaning, knowing that Lestrade would eventually give the disc to John... John wouldn't have a birthday dinner when they were busy during the Reichenbach fall, but maybe Sherlock had learned enough of Moriarty from their earlier encounters to hypothesise where things were going and plant little clues just in case, like he did with "it's just a magic trick".
I think it's actually 3 Germans. the judge and 3 jurors speak German. However, the last two jurors sound very similar so it's probably the same person. which would mean that a German person voice acted for two of the jurors. it's so weird :D

John's face at 6:15 gets me every time. It's so clear that he hadn't moved on at all. I wonder how many times, when Sherlock was away, that John heard or saw something that made him hope, for even a split second, that Sherlock was alive, only for it to be ripped away from him again and again?
Karen Lee Cause he can't stand the fact that he was one of the reasons why Sherlock had to take suicide. He wants to believe that sherlock faked it, so he doesn't have to live with all that guilt forever. So he can shake off some of the burden he is carrying. All the guilt is consuming him, so he seeks after drastic conclusions. Therefore he starts a fanclub. Therefore he thinks sherlock is still alive and search after evidence and clues.
Honestly, I hate the judgementality of Sargent Donavan and Anderson, but you can clearly see the guilt in Anderson’s eyes. How he, oh so desperately, wants Sherlock to be alive, to relief all the guilt and feeling of shame and it’s just horrible to think about really. To show John how he’s so very sorry and no words can express how sad he is or how he would do anything he can in his power to just bring him back. I don’t know about Donavan but she’s mean, haven’t heard of her much :( that’s all I’ll say
I kinda hope there won't be a fifth one. The Final Problem seemed like a fitting permanent ending (especially the epilogue). I honestly thought the fourth season wasn't as great as the previous ones (but still really good) and I don't want to risk a Sherlock season I'll dislike
@@Anatiumregina Yeah I do agree with you but now the creators should have hopefully realised that we don't want some super dramatic triller rather a really witty show about solving crimes and friendship. The ending of S4 gives them the liberty to go back to kind of show it was in S1 and S2. And also a lot of canon material is remaining to be covered.
Just re-reading "The Six Napoleons" and came across this: "You will remember, Watson, how the dreadful business of the Abernetty family was first brought to my notice by the depth which the parsley had sunk into the butter upon a hot day." --and totally flashed on this Indian detective's comment about the chocolate flake. On first seeing this mini episode, I thought that chocolate flake line was kind of silly and had you pressed me, I'd have said it was non-canonical. But here it is, essentially, lifted right off the page. Wow. That Moffat guy (Gatiss, too) is a Sherlockian wonk of the highest degree. Praise!

Cumberbatch and Freeman are both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I sincerely hope they have a few scenes together and make a subtle reference to Sherlock. I also hope Cumberbatch as Dr Strange has a scene with Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark in which they both subtlety critique each other's impression of Sherlock. Probably not going to happen, but One can always hope.

I remember when it first came out everyone was analysing every little frame of it. there was essays written about every possible meaning behind the items on the box. It's so brilliant that Martin makes you believe he is actually watching (and reacting to) the birthday video together with the audience while in fact the he doesn't get to see the video when acting.
Okay, Martin is amazing. The way he starts breathing after the 'okay' is so like the way he breathed in episode one as he woke from his nightmare was so fantastic. And Rupert's Lestrade is so perfect. (But is nobody going to talk about the way Sherlock essentially quotes Oscar Wilde regarding John and his friends?)
I just watched s3e1 again and i realized that why actually Sherlock didnt tell John he was not dead. Obviously, it was not about missing something out of his mouth. Clearly, all people, world knew about from newspapers Sherlock and Watson, how they solved the cases together, and their special friendship. So, how could these people believe that Sherlock was really dead ? At this point, Sherlock had to give people a real proof. For the greatest possible proof, people should be able to see the great and true sorrow of John. Therefore, Sherlock let John to grieve for two years.He continued until he was sure that he destroyed all of Moriarty’s networks.
I cried the first time I watched this. It was a mixture of happiness and sadness. I laughed because of Sherlock being himself, but I cried mainly sadly. Because of John. I put myself in his shoes. Imagine, watching an old video of your best friend who had committed suicide. It was heartbreaking. Also you could see the wrenching sadness in Lestrades eyes if you look deep enough.

Other series that I recommend which are all quite different from each other but I liked them: Killing Eve (is my top recommendation which is on BBC Iplayer), The Umbrella Academy, Money Heist, Bodyguard, Lucifer, The Purge ( its a film series but I love it so damn much ). That's from the top of my head but if you need some more just ask. :)

Maybe Sherlock already suspected he might have to "die" and fitted his words to have a double meaning, knowing that Lestrade would eventually give the disc to John... John wouldn't have a birthday dinner when they were busy during the Reichenbach fall, but maybe Sherlock had learned enough of Moriarty from their earlier encounters to hypothesise where things were going and plant little clues just in case, like he did with "it's just a magic trick".

I think it's actually 3 Germans. the judge and 3 jurors speak German. However, the last two jurors sound very similar so it's probably the same person. which would mean that a German person voice acted for two of the jurors. it's so weird :D

Honestly, I hate the judgementality of Sargent Donavan and Anderson, but you can clearly see the guilt in Anderson’s eyes. How he, oh so desperately, wants Sherlock to be alive, to relief all the guilt and feeling of shame and it’s just horrible to think about really. To show John how he’s so very sorry and no words can express how sad he is or how he would do anything he can in his power to just bring him back.
I don’t know about Donavan but she’s mean, haven’t heard of her much :( that’s all I’ll say

@@Anatiumregina Yeah I do agree with you but now the creators should have hopefully realised that we don't want some super dramatic triller rather a really witty show about solving crimes and friendship. The ending of S4 gives them the liberty to go back to kind of show it was in S1 and S2. And also a lot of canon material is remaining to be covered.
So yeah I hope they do make a new season, but with the formula that worked before. They tried new things and it was not amazing.

Cumberbatch and Freeman are both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I sincerely hope they have a few scenes together and make a subtle reference to Sherlock. I also hope Cumberbatch as Dr Strange has a scene with Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark in which they both subtlety critique each other's impression of Sherlock. Probably not going to happen, but One can always hope.

It's so brilliant that Martin makes you believe he is actually watching (and reacting to) the birthday video together with the audience while in fact the he doesn't get to see the video when acting.
Okay, Martin is amazing. The way he starts breathing after the 'okay' is so like the way he breathed in episode one as he woke from his nightmare was so fantastic. I just watched s3e1 again and i realized that why actually Sherlock didnt tell John he was not dead. Obviously, it was not about missing something out of his mouth.
Clearly, all people, world knew about from newspapers Sherlock and Watson, how they solved the cases together, and their special friendship. So, how could these people believe that Sherlock was really dead ?
At this point, Sherlock had to give people a real proof. For the greatest possible proof, people should be able to see the great and true sorrow of John.
Therefore, Sherlock let John to grieve for two years.He continued until he was sure that he destroyed all of Moriarty’s networks.
This is true reason to canon.

I cried the first time I watched this. It was a mixture of happiness and sadness. I laughed because of Sherlock being himself, but I cried mainly sadly. Because of John. I put myself in his shoes. Imagine, watching an old video of your best friend who had committed suicide. It was heartbreaking. Also you could see the wrenching sadness in Lestrades eyes if you look deep enough.

Other series that I recommend which are all quite different from each other but I liked them: Killing Eve (is my top recommendation which is on BBC Iplayer), The Umbrella Academy, Money Heist, Bodyguard, Lucifer, The Purge ( its a film series but I love it so damn much ). That's from the top of my head but if you need some more just ask. :)
