I am growing Ferrari as well and love them. I have mares tail it’s easy to pull but yep it’s a pain. Fantastic harvests and more to come 👍. We have cooled down and getting rain finally for a few days. Have a great weekend, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦

There was me thinking 11 Ferrari plants wasn't enough 🤣 Next year I will grow only 6.....then watch the slugs take the lot! 😣

Thanks for this! Your daughter has done a fabulous job behind the camera! That was an onion and shallot harvest to be proud of!!!! I have started growing walking onions, they are a diploid cross between shallots and Welsh onions. Most folks grow them as green onions but with the correct techniques they form really good bulbs!

Hello Klaus, my daughter is overwhelmed with the camera compliments...thank you. I was very pleased with the onion haul. A few growers on my site have grown walking onions, I my try some next year. Hope your Toronto weather has been more predictable than ours....it's been a nightmare growing year.
      Cheers. Nigel 😊👍

The long red Florence was my favourite Nigel and always did well. I always struggle with cauliflowers. Nice update.

Hi Nigel, another great video thanks to your daughter, I wish her good luck. I lost my whole crop of Caulis this year. One minute they were forming perfect heads the next they all blew. Think was a few days of warmer weather we had. However, the rest of the brassicas have been great. Crossing my fingers that my onions will bulb up this year and be as good as yours. Spring is now upon us and the 350 annual flowers are starting to bloom. Magic time of the years. Look after yourself and happy gardening. Cheers

Hello Keith, I will miss my daughter filming, it saves so much time not having to set up the camera each time. She will be working in Glasgow for an energy company developing solar cell technology. It's so frustrating with how the veg has or hasn't performed. I reckon 80% of my tomatoes haven't turned red and the overnight temps are dropping. All the best matey 👍

Always enjoy watching your videos, packed full of good solid information. I also got some Kelsea onion plugs from DT Brown and was very pleased with them, makes you wonder if it’s worth all the bother of growing from seed. Thanks for another great video and best of luck to your daughter in her new job.
    Take care, Pete.

Just got 3 bags of onion sets today, 2 senshu and one Snowball. My beds have been refreshed with lots of bfb and chicken pellets and been covered in cardboard for a few weeks now to prep them.

Hello Frank, ive always been tempted to try the snowball, but I never have any look with set, they always seem to bolt on me😢. It was great to see Cav get the 35th tour win but I can see Pogaćar with his sights on breaking it 👍

Hi Wayne. yes strange with the Kelsae, but I recall having the same issue last year. Very pleased with how the kelsae plug plants performed so I will probably buy them again nest year 👍

    Hi Nigel,
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who had poor Clapton caulies. Small, blown heads. I managed to get 5 out of 10 this year, although small. The rest blew or bolted while small. Why? Well I put it down to a poor cool start to the season followed by a severe hot spell just at the wrong time.
Let's hope my Autum giant variety do better. The plants are huge now, and some are just about showing their heads deep down in the foliage. Let's hope for a cool, wet spell at the right time. Fingers crossed 🤞

My thoughts exactly!!!!! I may try staggered sowing next year about 3-4 weeks apart to try and dodge any strange weather pattersn 🤣👍

    Hi Nigel
Wow what a fantastic Cauliflower Harvest, I sowed some all year round and clapton the other day just to see what happens.
And a great crop of onions, got enough there to last you a fare while.

Hi mate, I would have liked the cauls a bit bigger but the weird weather is screwing everything up. Very happy with the onions, especially the Kelsae grown from plug plants. Just wish they would do other of my favourite varieties in plug form, it would save me time and money 🤣👍

Another informative video. I only have a small garden veg plot. This year l placed all my cabbages and cauliflowers in a cage to stop caterpillar attack. To stop slugs, as my neighbours on both side are not gardeners so there always seems to plenty of the critters about, l used nematodes. They have worked apart from around the cauliflowers. Absolutely ruined the crop. What do you do ?

    • @MuddyBootz
      @MuddyBootz  3 месяца назад +2

I use a few slug pellet around each plant when they are young. An alternate method is to use brassica collars around the base of the plant and add vaseline (petroleum jelly) onto the surface 😀
