RM's stutter in Ddaeng is one of the hottest things I've ever heard.
Same 🔥☺️
💯🔥
He is my bias (with Yoongi...and Jin, I have a problem xD),but I must say JK did him proud too :_)
@@loredell absolutely! Jk did great on that part!
Truth! 🔥🥵💕
The stuttering is actually RM mocking the haters that after shitting on BTS for so long did an about face and came back apologizing.
Lol savage rap monster!
Yes that too

@@ToneyReactions he doesn't go with the name rap monster anymore, he changed it to RM just to let you know! :)
@@rosedew5932 yeah ik it's just a acronym for that tho lol but I meant it literally
What wasn't explained about RM's stutter is actually him imitating someone who used to hate on bts or treat them badly when they were small and now they stutter in their presence saying "i like you so much" because they became successful
Ok who was that?? 😳😳😳because a year into this fandom, several listening of DDEANG several analogies but never heard of this one. Who was the person???
@@BeAG00dHuman well personally I learned about it on twitter but it’s fairly obvious if you listen back on it with that in mind 😊
@@serendimin you’re right. Now that I paid attention to it again through this reaction. I was just really surprised Lols thanks 💜
to those fluent in Korean hearing this song for the first time must of been such an amazing experience
RM is an legitimate genius like IQ number wise and it's always been said that you can really never translate his wordsmith ability into English
Even as Korean, I need this explanation video as much as everyone else dose lol thanks to DkDk
So many ddangs
The topic of this song is very simple: it's a satirical bragging song. The brilliance/charm of this song is in the use of word play, onomatopoeias and use of multiple meanings of one word.
Well said!!
I laughed hard at the ‘he need to take an iron to that shirt’ comment 😂😂😂 True! Toney you will love ‘Joke’ by RM. It’s incredible - the whole song is a masterpiece and full of wordplay. There is an mv with eng subs if you search for it 😊 Thank you for this!
Yesss, and also Daechwita, two masterpieces
I got y'all!
The explanation for Daechwita from DKDKTV is also really good. The song is truly one of genius.
"This is a homework, homework. If you can't answer it, your problem, ddaeng"
Some kpop companies created a whole task force somewhere around 2017-18 to study BTS, the fandom etc. to figure out 'the secret formula' for their success so they can use it to replicate BTS' global success. It's safe to say they didn't succeed at that since no other group is touching BTS' achievements.
Jhope is saying that it's ironic that the ones that were called 'flops' are so big now that they're dumbfounded from BTS' success. These haters have so much time because they don't have anything to do other than hate bts. He ask's their reason for hating bts & that their problem is 'ddaeng' or 'wrong'.
In the chorus they mention the game seotda. Seotda is not a game of strategy or skill. Rather, Seotda is a game of emotional warfare and mind games whereby looking like you hold the best cards and betting like you have nothing to be afraid of is the key to winning. Or sometimes the key to winning is utilising your opponents’ egos by looking meek and weak to indicate you hold an average hand (when you actually don’t) in order to rope in other players so they continue betting thereby raising the pot to your advantage. this is, as you can see, a parallel to the meaning of the song ddaeng. Rapline compared this song to ddaeng as in the beginning they were so called 'flops' and ppl didn't pay much attention to them but soon enough they realized bts's talent and they began gaining success and their talent was getting recognized.
''누가 끗발이 좋던 간에
-No matter who had influence
나는 땡 전혀 상관 안 해
-For me it's a ddaeng I don't care at all''
Now here Suga uses a clever word play. '끗발', pronounced kuparr (?) means influence or power. Its often used as slang in korea to refer to someone who is powerful or very successful.
The origin of '끗발' comes from the word 끗/'kkeut' which, once again references Seotda. 'kkeuts' are one of the most common hands you'll get in Seodta. So, here Suga is saying that a kkeut is kkeut. It is pathetic and he doesn't care about kkeuts who are the haters because he's a ddaeng which is a higher hand in seodta.
''Hunnit bae hunnit bae hunnit bae hunnit bae 땡
이 음악은 똥이야 bae
-This music is shit bae
배알 꼴리겠지만 bae
-Although you may feel offended bae
니 주장이 다 맞아 bae
-All of your claims are correct bae
우린 망해가고 있네
-We are failing''
In “Come Back Home,” BTS’ remake of Seo Taiji & Boys’ 1995 song of the same title, RM raps “hunnit band hunnit band hunnit band,” which means ‘$100,000, $100,000, $100,000.’ The same lyrics can be found in Childish Gambino’s “This is America,” which was BTS’ favorites at the time of their Love Yourself: Tear US promotion(2018). The haters are 'bae' here. Now, when you first hear the lyrics it seems like suga is repeating what the haters are saying and mocking them but there is actually another reference to hwatu here.
In hwatu, the best month is 11(november) because it has a kwung card and another powerful card. Each month has 4 cards. These '11' cards are affectionately called ddong 똥 which is directly translated to 'shit'. Why name a powerful card 'shit'? Cause the pictures on the cards represent a tree called Oh Dong 오동 tree. Hence the word “ddong”. So, when suga says 'this music is shit' he is using a word play by referring this music to the best month in hwatu. Thus, by insulting their own music, there's a double meaning behind it that means the exact opposite saying their music is actually 'the best'.
IFurther in lyrics Suga he is sarcastically mocking the haters, thanking them and saying its because of them they 'failed'. He also wishes that other smaller artists from small companies who like him don't have much privilege but have many haters are able to become successful.
'계속 걱정해주길
-So please keep worrying
끗
-kkeut'
This line also has clever word plays and could have 3 different meanings.
1. This 'kkeut' could refer to the rankings in Seodta and because 'kkeut' is the most common, the line could mean "so pls keep worrying, losers(lower rankings)".
2. 'kkeut' also means 'THE END' so the line could also mean 'pls keep worrying about us, THE END' which is basically a mic drop.
3.The term Kkeut also gave birth to this famous Korean phrase “Life hangs on the difference of one kkeut” 인생은 한 끗 차이, which means 'even if life dealt you shitty cards, you can still win it all in life or lose it all if your hand is just one kkeut higher or just one kkeut lower. That one kkeut makes all the difference in life. For example if you’ve been dealt a 5 kkeut you can still win against a 4 kkeut.'
So the third meaning is that even if we're having by one kkeut, bangtan will still always win it all by that ONE kkeut which will always be on their side.
Also love how RM calls out the rappers who don't seem to have haters because you can only grow when you have people hating on you and trying to stop your success thus giving you even more motivation to break through and improve.
He tells them to look in the mirror and that they are their own hater and should self criticize their every move and mistake giving themselves motivation to succeed. Rest of RM's verse was very well explained by DKDKTV
(cr. for lyric analysis - @kaitfluffs on twt)
That line this of" this is homework if you can't answer then you're the problem" is so 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for this, I had no idea!
I like how that shit line can actually translate pretty well into English as it can also be a positive or negative word here.
RM is king of wordplays
Check his song JOKE. No chorus just bars with 9 flows 😊
If you recommend Joke always recommend they check out the one on the channel *leeha park*.
They should search for "rm joke eng cc" and chose the one on that channel it's the official MV but with eng cc.
So many watch the mv on the official channel and that doesn't have eng cc.
Uppp
@@Cookie_moonlove I just wanna know if they told RM when he was on the table with the straight jacket on that he has 3 gynecology tools on the tray 🤣🤣
😂😂 That's probably RM calling out the pussies.
And to add. Doolset bangtan has more in depth analysis of the lyrics. This bit I’ve copied below from there for a deeper meaning to when Suga raps ‘hunnit bae hunnit bae hunnit bae’...
In “Come Back Home,” BTS’ remake of Seo Taiji & Boys’ 1995 song of the same title, RM raps “hunnit band hunnit band hunnit band,” which means ‘$100,000, $100,000, $100,000.’ The same lyrics can be found in Childish Gambino’s “This is America,”
(2) Although they are not really noticeable when listening, the lyrics have slight variations: bae (baby), bar (a sentence in lyrical hip hop songs or a slang for money/bill), bbae (business before anything else).
So it does go even more in depth and recommend checking out doolset website 😊
He didnt go over the stuttering part bc its obvious how king like that part of rms verse was
Ig you right lol
RM killing his verse!!Never loved rap in my life before and Im 50😂,.until i met BTS two years ago. They are the lights in my life💜💜
Hi Toney, the BTS Rapline has a song called "TEAR" who had that specific "homonym" you mentioned: Tear as in crying and Tear as in ripping. Can't wait for your Reaction for the 2019 Live Performance from their World Tour, all decked out in Dior. Also, they have (Suga) Agust D "Daechwita" where "stutters" too and that "Explained Video" talks about it.
My very favorite rapline performance!
The stuttering is understood from the lyrics/context: RM was imitating how hypocritical/cynical people sound when they speak to them. I mean people (mostly from the entertainment industry) who were cruel to BTS when they were small, but try to kiss their feet and act as if "we've always been friends" with them, now that they are big : when they act as they have never humiliated them or badmouthed them, while asking favors... Or when they apologize insincerely, just to save face... They stutter, because they're afraid/insecure/dishonest.
HE GOT THE "STUTTERING PART" AND THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW, HE IS GENIUS....
I am glad I subscribed!!!
Lmao let's gooooooo
Yo, this dude surely deserves to be a real BTS reactor in youtue, going extra mile to go through the lyrics and all.
I also saw an explanation of the use of this word ddaeng and the many subtle ways they are using this. Some complex.
Also their performance attire & setup is based on is sooo many cultural & traditional aspects of Korea. It’s so beautifully and unapologetically Korean, they pay homage to their roots and flex their culture soo much in music, lyrics, perfomances, attire, that i literally cannot understand when people say theyve become “too westernized”💀
another comment mentioned it but i also want to concur that “an introduction to the 7 members of BTS” is SUCH a well done introduction video. i know “who is BTS? the seven members of bangtan” is highly requested but the former is up to date, so professional, informative and well put together. i too highly, highly recommend
Yes it was RM stuttering... That verse is Genius and for all the meaning of the word Ddaeng 😎💜🔥 RM is clever... IQ 148 btw 🔥
Ps: DKDKTV explained mainly the cultural references and meaning, that's why he didn't talked about the stutter rap part 😁
Aww okay okay okay so he not breaking down the entire song okay I get it... He still could have ironed that shirt lol
@@ToneyReactions hahahaha i think it was like this the shirt 😂 there are some type of shirt that are just like that
Also fun fact about this song - Suga, RM & JHope produced it themselves and released it for free on Soundcloud ... Also in general RM is truly a lyrical genius! He has writing credits on pretty much every BTS song!
It is produced by SUGA and J.Pearl. RM and J-Hope were not involved into production
Official credits of Ddaeng:
Produced by SUGA, J.Pearl
(SUGA, J.Pearl, RM, J-Hope)
Producers are listed outside the brackets, songwriters and composers are inside the brackets
You're my favorite reactor. Seriously thank you for actually trying to understand rather than just reacting for views, which happens a lot. You're insightful and take an interest and that's been fun to watch. Hope you find other gems in their discography that you enjoy!
Appreciate the love! I gotta be genuine otherwise y'all will see right through it lol
Oh this brings me back to the day DDAENG was released 3 years ago, this also made me established them as the best of the best like I'm still not over RM's verse and I don't think I would ever be
Thanks for the reaction!
so excited for this!! your breakdowns are always so insightful, swear no matter how many times ive seen a bts video i'm still learning something new bc of you
They are doing rap with fans in their hands and their traditional dress.
DKDKTV tend to focus on the Korean references, wordplay, and idioms rather than breaking down the entire rap. That could be why they didn’t mentioned the stutter.
Makes sense! 💪🏽🐺💯
RM’s IQ is 148, that’s certified genius level. It’s so fun to watch your reactions and go through this journey with you. My lil’ squad and I all wait for your videos.
RM actually made an english song with Wale, it's one of my favorites! it's called "Change". Great video as always!
RM is a GENIUS! the Rap line of BTS is amazing
They are rapping geniuses! RM has an IQ of 148! He really is a Genius!!! 💜💜💜
I heard!
Facts... David should have ironed his shirt I said the same thing when I first watched this. You had a lot of the references. Good job (for lack of a better reference)
Lmao he know he was going to be seen! Shirt wrinkled as hell
Don't worry Toney, that stutter part is MY favorite part of the whole song as well. I love this song in its entirety, it's a freaking masterpiece but that stutter verse just gives me LIFE. Also, Ddaeng was one of the songs the boys released FOR FREE on Soundcloud, just as a "thank you" to ARMY. Shows the kind of quality, thought, and deep appreciation they have for their fans, just in the one song. And they do this ALL the time. Especially for their birthdays - they like to put out free songs to show fans love for their birthdays.
There is also a behind the scenes for this performance where it shows the three of them working on the production of the song, as well as their rehearsal before the performance. They performed the song live at one of their many ARMY appreciation performances (they have yearly Musters and Festas which are essentially just them showing love and appreciation for their fans), and they just have fun, do skits, wear funny costumes, interact with ARMY, and perform songs they normally don't perform at concerts (like covers, free songs they put out on Soundcloud, and B-sides).
Nice reaction Toney👍🏻 next please react to 'Outro: Tear' live at Wembley 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this reaction! I think next should be Cyphers 1,2,3,4 you can do two at a time and they are more or less straightforward🥰
Thanks for appreciating RM’s talent. He’s low key genius. Since you keep saying it, you should React to DOPE already! ✌️
See, this is why I come here for the bts rap reactions. 'Hold up, he's doing something here' 😁 Caught it straight away
I recommend reacting to:
An introduction of the 7 members of BTS (2021 update) = The youtuber released it a few weeks ago and is re uploading as an undated version that is being released to morrow in the early morning. You HAVE to react to it. The last one she made was AMAZING and this one she said is even better bc she wasn't happy with the last one. The last one introduced each member, their background, examples of their songs, how many songs they've made, each member on a profetional level, and more. I have watched a ton of BTS intro videos and it was one of the best ones for sure! Totally recommend it!
I also recommend:
Outro Tear live with ENG SUB(song by rapper line) = ruclips.net/video/utptmax_7bk/видео.html
Crystal Snow live = ruclips.net/video/XZtPna6SOOU/видео.html
Mic Drop + Idol live (I recommend knowing the lyrics of Idol first bc the live doesn't have ENG subs) = ruclips.net/video/zJX5R1hEMVw/видео.html
Songs I recommend by each member:
Suga: Agust D, Deachwita
RM: Joke, Moonchild
J-Hope: Just Dance, Ego, Boy Meets Evil, Airplane pt 1 (Airplane pt 2 is a song with all the members)
Jimin: Filter, Serendipity, Promise
V: Stigma, Singularity, Sweet Night
Jin: Epiphany, Awake
Jungkook: Euphoria, My Time, Begin
LOVE your reactions!! Thx so much!
Yes the vid is by YT Ida S very thorough vid on their professional side.
They very definition of ddaeng is so smooth here.
I love your reactions, pls check out - what do you think by Agust D (aka. Suga is his solo songs) 👌
DKDKTV really do a great job in deciphering the Korean cultural context of these lyrics. Thanks for checking them out. BTS lyricism is just THAT good.
Everyone backtracks when RM starts with the stutter rap 🙌 👑
Things I love about this performance:
The nod to traditional clothing
J-Hope's swag
Suga's little laughs
RM's stutter rap
Tae coming out and living his best life
Lol it catches you off guard...
@@ToneyReactions it does indeed. One minute you're vibing, the next you're breaking your finger when you slam the rewind key on your keyboard. If you're interested in checking out more stuff like this and you haven't seen one of RM's solo songs, named Joke, it is deffinately something to check out. He uses a lot of different flows and some amazing wordplay to showcase how skillful he is at writing and rapping while sticking it to anyone who's ever talked shit about him. The music video is lit too.
@@jiminslostjams5989 My favorite thing about "Joke" is the title because it reminds me of RM classifying it as not being about anything serious, yet as you say, it puts haters in their place quite nicely... Found the quote on btsdiary.com:
"RM: ‘Joke’ is a song whose lyrics were written with a stream of consciousness. That’s why the title is called ‘Joke’ as well. There’s nothing hidden behind the lyrics. It’s 500% for the auditory pleasure of rap songs. Since the other songs have messages or emotions placed into them, I felt that it was necessary to add in a refreshing song without any thoughts. I put in a lot of what I believe are rap ‘skills’."
-- [INTERVIEW/TRANS](HIPHOPPLAYA) Rap Monster: ‘even if it’s to say bad things, i really hope you would listen to the mixtape’ [150324] Published on March 25, 2015
I watched "Introduction to BTS: The 7 members of Bangtan." It helped me alot. I fell hard so yeah..... 😆. You being a rap fan, I'm surprised your not doing their individual raper stuff. Suga is also AgustD with the songs AgustD and Daechwita. RMs popular is Joke and Do You. And JHope's Daydream and Airplane. All of them have mix tapes. That are amazing and deep.
BTS is definitely not a shallow group of men. And thier music is, like you said, on another level. I enjoy watching new reachtors becoming ARMY. 🥰 BORAHAE ( I purple you) The origin of this is cute. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you! And imma definitely get to those tracks
OMG I am so excited for you to react to the rap line mixtapes (especially ADUST D D-2, that shit's deep af)
anyways love your vids and I love how your brain always gets it on the first try lol
omg also the cyphers I remember you mentioning smth about rm stuttering on purpose for fit the cadence n flow and the meaning of the lyrics and I just wanted to mention that he been doing that since like 2014 (i think it was either cypher 1 or 2, and also the entirety pf "joke") and it's absolutely genius
I think you would really enjoy RM doing a song called Change with Wale. And there is a short interview Wale did where he basically says RM is incredibly talented as a writer and producer 💜💜💜
Love this reactions! Love all your reactions to BTS! Love it!
I love this song probably one of my most listened to BTS songs.
In this performance they were wearing Hanbok which is Korean traditional clothing.
I love RM's verse, so savage but super calm, fanning himself showing the haters they are so far below him.
Another song you should check out and do the DKDKTV explanation to after is *Baepsae* (also callel 'Silver spoon' or 'Try hard' or 'Crow Tit' (crow tit is a small bird and direct translation of baepsae)). Great song great live performances and great meningful lyrics and great attitude.
They never cease to amaze me. Another brilliant song.
Yeah I liked this one
Yes! Ddaeng Explained on the DKDKTV Channel is awesome!
The Live version here has them wearing stylized “Hanboks” Traditional Korean Men’s overwear. Beautiful aren’t they?
Also, the subs on the Live version were kinda off. ;)
Thx for your reaction to DDAENG!
Yeah I like how they had on traditional clothing..
When BTS flex or do a diss track, it’s not bragging or bringing somebody down... it’s stating facts and appreciating everything their ARMY does and taking all negativities as part of their road to success! BTS are genius people that make beautiful .music with amazing lyrics. BTS is the best! There’s nothing like BTS!
Loved this. Always enjoy watching with you. 💜
2 things. The billboard mentions come from the fact that once Billboards started recognizing BTS, Korean antifans started Downplaying billboard itself. They gave them a paper award and that's not valid, so on so forth.
2. Butter is a derrogatory term Asians use to diss Asians who become americanized. After Dynamite, BTS started getting disses and being called butter in their turf. Thus BUTTER. So as much as it is a complete vibe and a celebration, it is also a clap back to people claiming they have become too "americanized" 💜👑💜 kings!
I think these are awesome facts that are not well known.
Lol that's dope another lil jab at the haters like "watch is make this bad term into a SUMMER ANTHEM" 😂 they savage
@@ToneyReactions Hell yes! 💜👑💜
I also just wanna add that this song is released for free on their sound cloud as a gift for fans as a celebration of their group's anniversary

Lol! Thank you appreciate it! 🐺💯💪🏽
I love how you react to the song and then saw the meaning of it .. cause it’s DOPE
Love seeing your BTS reactions ☺️ If you’re interested in checking out another totally different side to BTS, I think you’d really appreciate Spring Day (especially because you seem interested in the symbolism/psychology they use in their lyrics and videos). On its own, it’s a beautifully written song, but the MV is (and I don’t say this lightly) a cinematic masterpiece. The MV pays tribute to the victims of the Sewol ferry accident and is also very politically bold. The MV is chock full of cultural references and symbolism, so most people recommend watching the MV first, then watching a breakdown. If you’re interested, check out the links below, but be warned, I’ve never seen a reactor make it through the breakdown video without tearing up. It’s tragic but beautiful

@@ToneyReactions Spring Day is considered as Queen by ARMY because ever since it was released last 2017 until now, it's still on the Korea's music chart and it never left... Suga considered it as a zombie for the same reason... it's such a beautiful song... i think it's also composed by RM..
I LOST IT AT THE WRINKLED SHIRT 😂😂😂 Oh my god lmfaoooo now Toney, don’t do David like that 😂 But for real though, I just knew you would love this track. RM is definitely on a whole ‘nother level. His solo stuff is dope, too. I’m sure you’ll get to it eventually... You’re catching up on 8 years of content at this point so it’s going to take time, but we are so happy to go along for the ride.

OK, weird coincidence. I watched this reaction this morning and on my way home from work today, “Boom! Shake the Room” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince played on the radio. I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before, but in it, Will Smith does the stutter rapping!

I really enjoy your BTS reactions! I can feel your sincerity, and I appreciate your willingness to brave breaking down bars in a forging language. I feel like you have natural grasp of the general idea being conveyed. So any way... Keep going! I'll do my part and contribute the 👍

Omg fuck yea ive been waiting for this one!!
Yes!!! I was waiting for this!:) And I agree, the stuttering part was missing in the explanation Video, but still the explanation was so helpful. I couldnt help it- I just fell for the song Ddaeng. I even learned to sing/rap the lyrics 😅
I’m so glad you did this one! Had a feeling you’d like it, it’s such a great song of theirs, yet for some reason wasn’t on an album
Oh really!? I wonder why they did that
Love your videos, Tony!! Your insights and deep understanding of rap are fascinating. Thanks, as always 😊
Thank you! 💪🏽💯🐺
I love your reactions! 😌
Was waiting for this👄
Yoongi has all the pent up aggression when he's on the stage. One of the things that makes him hypnotizing. Personally, I live for his spit fire raps and his deadpan humor. The music he's produced over the years, too! Every track is different, but it still feels very Yoongi somehow.
I love how good you are at interpreting what the messages are in every video👍🏼 You hit the nail on the head with this one too! 🙌🏼😊
The rap line in this group is 🔥🔥🔥
“Bulletproof 2” and “Fire”is another one you need to react to, and like you mentioned “Dope” 💜
Honestly there are SO MANY good ones that’s it’s hard to only mention a few!!
