Ok, Im 44 and never really knew of Gojira. I mean I knew the name but thought it was just another gimmicky band of the era and never even knew they were French. Olympics changed all that. Bravo to the Olympics Opening Ceremonies Director or whatever you wanna call him for leaning into that expressionism! I've always loved the French people for always sticking up tp their governments when they royally fuck up. Something the Yanks just dream of, which is Irony of the greatest kind. Thanks for this video and covering Gojira's comments on the culture, really brings a perspective that is sorely lacking over here.

As someone who competes and has competed against some of these athletes in taekwondo, if i would have qualified this year and witnessed the gojira performance i 100% would have taken gold from how hyped i would have been from hearing that shit lmfao! That was an insane performance, and bro at least 60% of these athletes are listening to metal when they're in the gym.

(My friend working in a NGO in North Korea saw it live on National tv, an old coworker from Iran saw it live on National tv in Iran, and friends from China where I studied Chinese saw it live on national tv).
