Thanks for checking out the video! Timestamps for important steps in the process are in the description!
I hope this tutorial can be a bit more helpful / insightful than the last one. I wanted to try explaining why everything needs to work the way it does, just so you have context for why we're doing every step. As a teacher (outside of YT), it's important to me that everyone understands why and how certain steps are being done.
If you have any more questions, leave a comment!
EDIT: There is an easier way to apply the second layer textures than what I showed. You can click CPM > Add Part > Second Layer, then select all your second layer parts. Then, right-click the texture, and select Apply to Elements. You will still have to resize the arm if you are using a slim model, but it is much easier than what I discussed. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!!

I stumbled upon this randomly and I’m not disappointed, I’ve been messing with models and animation stuff for bit now, because I have a project I’ve been wanting to do and trying to work on, half of that being how to code for mods because of everything I want to do with it.
Anyways I’ve made a few blockbench models which I’m quite happy with but I always found it restricting in the angles I can work with, some of those models I want to do some texture animations and whatnot but I don’t think I’ll get much animation done in blockbench especially when I want to get whole scenes in, learning blender and how to code is a pain, but I know it’ll be worth it in the long run for what I want to do.
Though I do think i have found a mod that I’m going to use continuously now along side the others I always use, i definitely found this interesting and seems like it’d be easy to follow along in some way so kudos 👍🏻

For those of us who don't feel like downloading extra software, you can change the image size in MS Paint. I'll try to describe the process here.
    - Open MS Paint (or just paint on windows 11).
    - Drag and drop the image file you're using for your skin into MS Paint.
    - Zoom into the image to see it close up. Either use the zoom slider at the bottom, or use the key board shortcut "Ctrl" + "+". I recommend zooming all the way in.
    - You should notice a few numbers at the bottom left of the software. The left most one is your mouse position. The second is your scale tool position. The third is your current scale. The third should say 64 x 64 px.
    - You should also see tiny boxes along the outside perimeter of the box. Left click and hold the right middle box. Another set of numbers down below should appear saying 64x64px.
    - Click and drag the right middle box until it says 128x64px.
    - Save the image as shown in the video.
Sorry if this feels like i'm saying obvious information, I just wanted to be as explicit as I could.

It's awesome! I just got an idea of creating a character that wears goat skull as a mask but didn't know how to make it, since the big horns on the side would be flat + i want people to still be able to see a face of my character, specifically the fact that they got half burned face almost to the skull. I just got inspired from that one hyper realistic fanart of a tubbo wearing a goat skull + MADK character J. And some of the details were part of my own character story i created.

good tutorial! for anyone confused why their CPM plugin may look different than in the video (mainly missing the animation tab), apparently the plugin is in beta and has issues with parts of it breaking when installing it. I ended up installing it a bunch of times in a row and praying, and eventually it somehow worked.

OH ALSO ANOTHER THING theres an easier way to add the second layer!
      click CPM > add parts
go to the second layer parts, and select ONLY the ones that are supposed to be the second layer (hat, jacket, ect.)
right click your texture on the left of your screen (like you are changing the file)
click "Apply To Elements" (should be the third from the top down)
this SHOULD work for everything, HOWEVER if you use a slim model you will still have to do it manually for just the arms, but it cuts down time a lot still!

Dumb question, but if I wanted to export my model for use in and adventure map? There is a "Custom NPC Mod", it can accept skin urls. If there is a method to export as a mob, it can also pull models from any mob in the game, even if said mob does nothing that would also work.

Fantastic tutorial! Do these skins work on servers? Or are only seen by who wears it like personal resource packs?
Edit: sorry if it was said in the video. I'll have to watch this later with sound on 🎉

the texture is all over the place and i have no idea on how i change it

I wish there was a tutorial for adding gestures. I tried to make one for changing the clothes of a character, but it didn't work.

I'm not sure if this is a me thing or not but when I try to create a new texture for the model parts there is no "compress texture" option to click off and it keeps making the placement super random and it's quite annoying does anyone now why or how I can fix that?

@@CuppedOut2 I have no idea how the web browser works in comparison to the app. Typically, if any program has a web browser version and an app version, the app will have far more functions and options than the browser option. It may not be an option for browser.

Question, I got a message when Exporting that just said "Unknown Root Group" for every single group with an "Auto Fix" option for every one. What does this mean? What does it do?
