  • Is the blues universal? Can the blues be found in India?
In episode 1 of “Searching for the Blues,” Ankur and Ashutosh, long-time friends and founders of Amarrass Records, set out on a desert odyssey to film and record a lost and dying culture of traditional Indian music. Driving through the remote villages of Rajasthan, in northwest India, they find master class musicians, such as Lakha Khan, a passionate and energetic Sindhi sarangi maestro who is troubled that no one in the next generation will carry on the musical tradition. “He was a worried man, and he was singing the worried blues,” says Ankur.
