Now that I think about it, didn't Thrawn state that he had some experience with super weapons when he talked with Palpatine about the Death Star at the end of the first canon Thrawn novel? That's some early foreshadowing by Zahn, it's possible he's had the idea of the star flash for a while
We know that the Empire colonized the unknown regions when transforming into the First Order. Could the remains of Starflash be used to create Starkiller Base?
I declare, if Disney makes Thrawn into a one dimensional super weapon wielding megalomaniacal bad guy, I'm going to be very very cross. And, I think Thrawn is responsible for fewer deaths than Luke and Lando, so really, who's actually the bad guy among that trio?
It’s not Disney adapting him, it’s Favreau and Filoni. Filoni already has a track record of making him a straight villain like he was on the original Thrawn Trilogy. I’d prefer Thrawn take his Star Destroyers back to the Chiss for final confrontation with the Grysk in another Zahn trilogy, but I suspect he’ll die trying to rebuild the Empire.
I haven't read the book yet, so maybe I'll change my mind about this when I do, but it seems like if they never fired Chekhov's Superweapon it's probably going to come up again at some point.
Rakata Prime/Lehon apparently exists in the Disney Timeline, but is shrouded in mystery in the present day. Depending on how the Knights of the Old Republic remake goes, the species itself might become "canon" again.
@@johnnygyro2295 yes. But we’re still not sure if the remake will be canon technically, and if it’s not then they’d have to make the Infinite Empire canon, not just the species.
I hope it stays in the books, because if Thrawn uses it he’s betraying a solemn oath he made to never reveal its existence, and the only way someone else (particularly a non-Chiss someone else) could gain access to it is if Chiss civilization were utterly destroyed. I could see the Chiss handing it over to some new enemy with the understanding that they’d be spared in exchange, but you’d have to wonder how this enemy learned about it in the first place.
This super weapon was recently announced to be cannon by Lucas and the Admiral has already been mentioned in The Mandolorian so no doubt the weapon is going to be making some sort of appearance.
There's something similar in a DC Animated Movie! in Justice League DOOM Vandal Savage launches one Missile to the Sun that will create a tracking system for a Solar Flare to come back to the Earth and destroy half de planet! i know its not the same, but Starflash sounds similar
Imagine if the Chiss Asendency were the villains in the sequel trilogy rather than the First Order, and instead of Snoke or palapteen returning, it was Thrawn himself who is the main villain. Do you think it would have been a way better trilogy?
@joey lucas It's actually similar. Around an average of 90 years. Compared to Around 70 for humans in star wars. They do mature faster and stay at their prime longer however.
@@OverlyPositiveFanboy well, knowing Thrawn, a dude for whom something as trivial (“trivial”) as death couldn’t stop his plans, old age probably isn’t going to be much of an obstacle. Hell, imagine trying to keep this guy in a nursing home 😂.
Dude, every video you make it's clear as day OG Thrawn trilogy is your favourite which is fine, but you're in some sort of complete denial about the direction they're likely to go with Thrawn post rebels which isn't the overarching legends villain he once was, Rebels season 3 was created before Zahn was even brought back as season 4 was largely scripted and in deep development in 2016 when Zahn was in the know, so there's a big gap there between the books and show, so they are caught up and can finally get in synch.. They're not going to repeat Heir to the Empire. There is now 6 canon books and Zahn is certaintly being coy about it, he's stated he's learned to be coy since 2016. Things like the Grysk, Starflash are certainly co-developed with the story group for further use in other mediums. You will see when Ahsoka airs.
From what you are saying, is it possible that Thrawn did return to Imperial space, though not in time to save the fall of the Empire. He brought the schematics for StarFlash to the remaining Imperial forces, and helped them create Starkiller base for the First Order.
He‘d never help create Starkiller Base. It stands against everything he believes in, as shown several times over the books. But maybe the weapon is taken from the Chiss and studied? Still unlikely though, they keep a very close eye on it, and with good reason.

The Chiss Ascendancy makes the Romulan Star Empire look as competent as the US Congress.
So they are that competent?
Starflash DEFINITELY sounds like the missing component for starkiller base. Both redirect a star's mass in otherwise never before seen ways.
Yeah. Starkiller being a combination of The Death Star and Starflash makes alot of sense

why would they even be villains?
