And out of the darkness there rose a light, illuminating the deepest corner of the human heart. This Mack Wilberg arrangement achieves a tenderness that is profoundly beautiful. 2018 update: I return again to hear this great song in the darkest time of the year, reassured that some things never get old, never lose their beauty.
This is a beautiful rendition of this revered song. Mack Wilberg arranges and conducts the Mormon Tabernacle choir. Here is the link to their performance of this song. *disclaimer: prepare some tissue. ruclips.net/video/5rflf6NEQ6I/видео.html
Lyrics I used to think it was partly in German but it was just their accent. This reminds me of a dream I had one time. I was flying really high and it took me a very long time to get there somebody was leading me and I kept wondering, when are we going to get there, this is really far and then finally I heard a lot of fluttering of wings as we were entering a building and we were all squashed in there at the top and since I was one of the first in, I was at the very top and couldn't see anything. Then I realized we were all angels at the nativity, the birth of Yeshua our savior and we were singing to him. It was a very touching dream that I'll never forget.
Still, still, still One can hear the falling snow For all is hushed The world is sleeping Holy star, its vigil keeping Still, still, still One can hear the falling snow Sleep, sleep, sleep 'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth The night is peaceful all around You Close Your eyes Let sleep surround You Sleep, sleep, sleep 'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth Dream, dream, dream Of the joyous day to come While guardian angels without number Watch You as You sweetly slumber Dream, dream, dream Of the joyous day to come
The string arrangement is exquisite. I just wish the singers heard and appreciated that. It's like two different performances on top of eachother. The strings make me weep, truly.
The tempo of the singers juxtaposed to the interpretation of the strings is the fault of the conductor. This could have been done much better. I sang this in the Springfield, IL All City High School Choir in the 1960's and it became my favorite Christmas song. I've had the pleasure of singing this wonderful lullaby to my newborn children and grandchildren since then. Update...the string accompaniment was from another RUclips video: "ruclips.net/video/cqD2Cqk9AsE/видео.html" featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Please disregard my first two sentences.
@@auratone9303 agreed, it was a very wonderful experience, all those hours spent practising and hearing it come together like this is wonderful. May my grandmothers dog rest in peace, she actually died the day after my choir practising and this was the final song if I remember correctly
Wonderful interpretation of a beautiful Austrian carol.I have sung this carol in a small community choir many years ago.I simply thought there was not much better music than that carol.
Best sung a cappella and without this slushy orchestral accompaniment - or the descant. It's a simple Christmas cradle song! Predictably, the Vienna Boys Choir know how to sing it.
Such a beautiful carol, sung by one of the best cathedral choirs, thank you for this heavenly peaceful music, happy Christmas
Amazing!! Praise be to the newborn King!
Armonizzazione bellissima....

Just hate it when the music drowns our beautiful voices.
it seems a bit 'fast'.
Pickle
I prefere it in German but this is still very good
Anybody have the lyrics? Beautiful! Wunderschon!
Still, still, still
One can hear the falling snow
For all is hushed
The world is sleeping
Holy star, its vigil keeping
Still, still, still
One can hear the falling snow
Sleep, sleep, sleep
'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth
The night is peaceful all around You
Close Your eyes
Let sleep surround You
Sleep, sleep, sleep
'Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth
Dream, dream, dream
Of the joyous day to come
While guardian angels without number
Watch You as You sweetly slumber
Dream, dream, dream
Of the joyous day to come
Beautiful rendition. Thank you Winchester.
Strings too loud.

Absolutely stunning-moves the Spirit.
Vanderflash, this lovely arrangement is apparently by Mack Wilberg. This is according to the BBC website.
Mack Wilberg has really transformed this piece with his arrangement. It's stunning...

I admire these boys to have an opportunity to sing in a cathedral choir. It teaches them what is meant by sublimity & harmony in life.
It was an amazing experience.
Yes!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!!
Thank you for share !!!
Magical moment in year ... full of peace and love ... Christmas
I sang this song with my choir in college way back in the 80s. This version is so beautiful it is bringing tears to my eyes.
I wish somebody would transcribe the lyrics in English and Deutsch because I would like to learn it.
Stunningly beautiful

.... but when sung in English it has greater understanding.
Richer notes of Christmas spring from all cultures and perdure through time and space.
