This tutorial is a lifesaver! A crochet designer used this motif for a cardigan but i couldnt understand it at all. This helps me understand her pattern even more! Thanks so much!
This is my absolute favorite blanket to make for babies. I use sport weight yarn. I use Anything from multicolored skeins to solids to alternating between 3 different colors changing with the pattern. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve made.
I love this blanket!!! Made 3 and now I want to make one more 🤔 I always crocheted into the chains but the effect of in the chain space looks very similar and I am sure is WAY faster! Thanks for all your hard work, LOVE ❤️ your channel!
Thank you I love this pattern. I’ve always wanted to try it but I was intimidated because it looks so hard. Your videos are very easy to understand and I now have seven rows complete and can’t wait to keep going.
I love this pattern. I have made countless baby blankets from this pattern. Some solid and some with two colors. This is a great summer weight blanket and it works for a boy or girl and works up quickly. As I understand it the dragonfly blanket design comes from this idea. I always do the dragonfly in the round, I need to see how this one works up in the round.
This is just delightful. I've been relying on c2c as a go to for baby blankets, but have also been wanting a change. I do like this pattern and the history of it. Plus, I've binged on CtM more than once, and my fondness for the show makes me like it all the more. Thanks for this tutorial, Mikey.
Hey hey 👋 Mikey, I just wanted to say a huge thank you 🙏 for taking the time and putting this pattern together and then posting it. As a massive fan of ‘Call the Midwife’, I have been looking for this pattern for several years but was unsuccessful. I am on my 4th blanket since you posted this pattern, I am totally 💯 hooked on it. Keep up the great 👍 work, I’mma Bad Peanut, Victoria,Australia
Thank you for sharing this wonderful pattern. I really enjoyed making it. I used it to make rectangles with the 16+6 size. I am very busy but enjoy crochet so making the rectangles x 8 was so easy especially with your diagram and explanations. Now have to join up everything and then do the border. Oh Mikey, thank you yet again for another great tutorial, i started this yesterday in white for a new grandbaby due in July just loving this pattern. 😁
Such a gorgeous pattern and as always your diagrams are so very helpful. Congratulations on 1m subs. Have watched your tutorials for many years and admire your beautiful work and all that you do to help make us better crocheters ❤️
I'm so glad you do the charts. I find that when I get stuck in the wording of the pattern the chart usually bails me out. As a fairly new crocheter sometimes I have to read a pattern 3 or 4 times before I actually understand it.
Congratulations on 1M subs, Mikey! 🤗 Does anyone have good yarn brand/type suggestions for making a really nice baby blanket with this pattern? It's a shower gift and I want to make it special. ❤️
What a nice blanket. I'd rather like to buy or be given than crocheting it by myself. Or I might be interested in that pattern as knitting using two sticks... what to call? slipped my mind.
I have tried this 4 times and still can't get row 2 right iam always off at the end it just won't end with 15 what am I doing wrong ?I have counted and recounted my rows of 15 they are all right till I get to the last 15
Are your stitches counts off? You might have accidentally skipped a stitch or advanced a stitch too early. I cannot tell from a message. To see your work.

I've made several baby blankets by this pattern. I've also made several where I made the blocks but ommitted the flower center and just made it solid.
I knew there was a reason I hadn't made this yet. I was waiting on Mikey!!!
Same here! Thanks to Mikey I really “get it”! I’ve finally started making one along with him.
I made this blanket over 20 years ago for a friend's baby!
Just wanted to say thank you for making this pattern so easy to understand 😊

What size crochet hook do you use with sport weight? 3.75mm? 4? Just curious. I was thinking about using sport weight myself.
I use g or h
Hi from Germany, ive Made this blanket years ago for my nephew, Hes gonna turn 10 now. It was pure Joy to crochet it and my sister loved it 😍
This pattern was used a lot in the 1960s. Love this pattern!
Thank you for your explanation--I'm a new-ish crocheter and the visual helped. I also see now how to read the charted pattern. Thanks so much!

There is also a very old pattern where this is called: Flower in a Box
Thanks Mikey. The design almost looks like a 4 leaf clover or maybe a Celtic style cross. Very pretty
Great to visit this blanket again. Thank you Mikey for the reminder

Thank you so much!
Thank you. Just made this 😁 xx
Hope you like it!
Excellent!!! Thank you 😊❤️
What is the error on row 2? I did mine exactly like he said, but can only get 13 stitches on my last set, which of course messes up row 3. Help!
Ripped it out 3 times, finally got it.
Love your yibber yabber Lol. Love your tutorials
What a nice blanket.
I'd rather like to buy or be given than crocheting it by myself. Or I might be interested in that pattern as knitting using two sticks... what to call? slipped my mind.
Thank you
You're welcome
So Mikey, do you think the original blanket was done with what most of us call baby yarn which I believe is a 3 weight?
I have tried this 4 times and still can't get row 2 right iam always off at the end it just won't end with 15 what am I doing wrong ?I have counted and recounted my rows of 15 they are all right till I get to the last 15
Did you ever figure out what you were doing wrong? I'm stuck on row two too.
Hope you don’t mind...I did tag this video in a blog post I did! 😊
Thank you. 😍
hi Micky i was just wonding the pattern the call of the midwife the v stitched the chain can you a 2chain?
😍😍❤️
Just a quick question.. is it American crochet lingo or british ..
Hi Nicola, this is American terms. Hope this helps.
240--2.5hook- thread
Help!! I’ve got 2 complete rows of 7 complete and I’m on the 3rd set
I can’t get the skip stitch row to line up (the one that looks like a track)
Ty
Are your stitches counts off? You might have accidentally skipped a stitch or advanced a stitch too early. I cannot tell from a message. To see your work.
That is what I am thinking. I just can’t figure out where. The past 2 sections of 7 rows match up
Oh man... Hopefully you can figure it out...
Wish this was square stitched in the round. I have a difficult time with rows they bow like a rainbow.
