There are no journalists. Objective reporting does not exist.
WillieRants: Quite right, if the definition of a journalist requires them to actually be "objective". If, on the other hand you'd prefer to remain firmly in this realm - grubby as it is - then in fact subjective reporting is exactly what a journalist does most of the time. If you are lucky you can extrapolate from any given piece of journalism that a particular event has occured (again, if you are lucky). Anything beyond that is of course going to be coloured by the Journo's "unique perspective" on things (which is subject to all the usual caveats and of course those peculiar to the profession at any given time as well). This is what they have always done. The only thing they can generally be relied upon to be objective about is the date the article was written (I mean even the weather is controversial these days). The myth of journalistic integrity among Western journos has likely more to do with the last three major world conflicts than anything the journos might have actually achieved themselves. That and all the prizes they award themselves. When your opposite numbers actually have the word "propoganda" in their job title it isn't all that hard to appear honest. This does of course not mean that the journalists are not grinding an ideological axe. Who doesn't in this day and age? Everyone takes themselves so frightfully seriously.
