Best thing that ever happened to Jr is , he married Amy , he has really changed for the better and at last seems comfy in who he really is , Amy has truly been a positive influnence on him.
I know this is ‘old’ but I think he’d be the first to Admit that. Jr is such a great interview and I think that has a lot to do with her. As DP said at the end; he’s a different guy, and it’s credited to you. He’s absolutely fantastic. Especially on this show. I don’t know whether that’s because they’re friends or from her, or a combination; but Jr is fantastic on DP. I really hope people can take what he says and how he goes about his life, being open, transparent and probably most importantly, willing, to talk about what is probably very difficult for most people to talk about, and learn from it. I will be the first to tell you that I’m not a NASCAR fan by any means. But I am beyond impressed with how he has handled himself in the last few years. And from what it sounds like, from not only Dan, but Dale himself, it’s due to his wife. That is honestly some powerful stuff. It really is. It’s not only inspirational, but thought provoking. Lots of people have an incredibly difficult time (including myself) to be that open, honest about life, what you do for a living and whatever you’ve been through previously to that moment.
gilliteen I was thinking the same. The head and neck protection back then lacked, so I'm willing to bet drivers suffered more concussions back then. I just don't know if it was a valid excuse to sit out. I'm glad jr fixed his issues. I believe he'll have a strong 2017 season.
Very silly statement...If a person can not walk in a straight line and gets dizzy when they move their head then they have no business being in a race car. Also one could actually argue that the increased head and neck support could actually cause more concussions. The energy has to go somewhere when there is an impact...So if the head and neck are secured into place and can not move during an impact whats is the part of the body that can still move? The brain.....and that is what causes a concussion.
Jeff R I'm not saying it being an "valid excuse" was a good thing. I'm just thinking about the "tough guy" attitude that was synonymous with racing back then... I think back then when the head was allowed to move forward and down a lot further distance caused a whiplashed effect. Mind you I'm no doctor or engineer, so I could be totally wrong.
How they "delt" with it? death. Be it a gun, pills, alchohol, rope or a car. Not many people with severe concussion survive. And it almost always ends in suicide. Or some sort of self harm.
Yep his dad was rich growing up he wasnt built with his brother for 400$ my observations is that he is uncomfortable with the fame and fortune. Just wanted to race cars and hang with his girl and buddies. Seems like he would be just as cool with a 9to5 and running Wednesday nights and Saturday late models and having beers after
Dale Junior's my favorite I liked his personality I think he's a great family man just a straight-up good dude
Excellent interview., he is such a good guy, and Amy I so wonderful.

I love banana and mayo.
When a guy who owns a race team says it's expensive to get kids into racing when they're young. HAHAHA

Hes just putting it in perspective for the average person. Dale isn't average.
KBowWow75 normal people
Dale talks like he is poor
acrock21 it's called keeping it in perspective. He wasn't born into money.
