29mm is the perfect size in a Galbee for my wife, who has a small wrist. I bought her one, a quartz version, for Xmas and she absolutely loves it! Why quartz. Well, she hates setting and resetting her watches and couldn’t care less if it’s quartz. Because the watch was discontinued years ago and I was looking for a pristine example, it took me 6 months to source one. I own a Cartier de Santos (medium ) and it’s simply perfect. I understand your addiction to Cartier, they are wonderful watches!
Whaaat! That’s so impressive you were able to source a pristine model! 😱💕💕💕 I’m sooo glad she loves it. WHAT A WATCH! And you know, I’m a big quartz sympathetizer. In the ladies watch world, it’s a lot harder to find mechanical watches. 😅 and I think quartz has its place! I’m sooo glad she’s loving her watch!
Shout out to both of you, I have been looking for this timeless treasure for ages. However, since I stay in the Asian region, it makes it extra challenging for me to find a good source. Could you both shed some light perhaps some trustful sources from where I can get my hands on this beauty!! FYI: Call me old fashioned but definitely going for the vintage version 🙂
Such a beautiful watch. I hear people knock Cartier sometimes for being a "jeweler" and not a "true watch maker" which to me is silly. Their skeletons are second to none, so to is their history and contributions to watch making. That combined with being the "jeweler of kings" understanding ascetics like they do, they have perfect proportions, timeless elegant designs, and a near perfect wearing experience. The Santos and the tank in my opinion, are two of the best designs ever created.
I couldn’t agree more! I think it’s sooo silly to knock Cartier! Like you said, with their history I think it’s impossible to disqualify them. Watch geeks can be so pretentious about stupid stuff sometimes tho. 🙄
@watchgringa we can definitely take ourselves too seriously. I think when people; me included, are passionate about something, it can be easy to forget at the end of the day, it's not that serious... until you say something I disagree agree with! 😆
@scytherind8928 right! To me, the Cartier Masse Mysterious, along with the GS Kodo Constant-Force Tourbillon, were the best watches of watches and wonders 2022.
I know it doesn't have anything to do with the video (it was great) but I have to say I love the backdrop. Very nice chairs fitting of such a 70's house with a stunning view out the window. Thank you for all the content.
Beautiful variation of the Santos that my wife and I had not seen before. My wife is madly in love with this one, we may have found her next watch! Thanks Britt, great video! Hope you can get this one for yourself soon
That is a great looking watch. I'm not generally a two-tone fan but that dial is gorgeous. I love my Santos medium but now I want this too. Damn you Britt 😜
I love how you were shown up by those puppies. In show biz they say never go up agaiiint a puppy or baby. You will always get shown up. Haha very cute!
Great piece i agree with all your sentiments. Looks good on both you and your husbands wrist. I have the same medium de Cartier as him also. The only thing that stopped me buying the Galbee is the lack of water resistance. Great video video. Urban gentry Channel has done some great reviews on this piece.
SLEWER! 💕 you know! I need to get more info Urban Gentry! I used to watch so many of his videos! And then the algorithm stopped feeding me them. 🤔 I better catch up! Hope you’ve been keeping well! 💕✨
I really, really loved this watch, so much more than I thought I would, just that bit more character than the new one and made me wish I’d gone two tone. ❤❤❤
the bezel is even nicer than the new ones that are incorporated into the bracelet. if you are the real watch papi that means you are married to the coolest woman alive!!!
I love Cartier Santos ... but the automatic with date size medium ... I own 5 of them ... different colors ... and I have to say ... yes ... they blow me away and I am never bored with any of them!
For me it's the modern Santos the Cartier all day long. Two-tone isn't really my thing and I specifically love how the bezel flows into the bracelet. It's just the perfect balance of elegance and sportiness on the modern one.
Looks really awsome on you. Although I am a fan of the white dial and blue hands this millenium version also ticks all the boxes, it's beautiful. I also think the Santos Dumont and the Tank Louis Cartier in gold would look spectacular on your wrist...😊
Looking/sounding like the recovery is going well! Smaller watches are where it’s at! Recently purchased a sector dial Longines dolce vita and it’s awesome
I couldn’t agree with you more. The classic millennium watch just nailed it for style and elegance in a sporty way. I can see a Cartier in my collection now n the near future. Thanks for all of your great information and entertaining videos!
Gringa Sundaaaaaaaay 🔥What a nice watch……..I recall watching a TGV video with a Santos with a moon phase……..OMG that watch took my breathe away 🔥. Great video as always Britt.
It’s that magical day of the week!!! 💕✨✨✨ AHHHH AND I KNOW THAT EXACT ONE!!! Fantastic watch! Gah! Now you’ve got moon phase Santos in my head wnd I’m going to have to stalk it on Chrono24 now!
Get it! I have the exact same model. And my fiancé has a SM version as a matching pair. Stunning on wrist and yet elegant which doesn’t break the bank.
I really wanted to like the Santos. I went to the very nice Cartier AD, tried on the medium and.....nothing. It just looked to me like a bracelet with a watch attached, instead of the other way around; the dial is so discreet as to almost be absent. I ended up getting a JLC Reverso Gran Sport - watch attraction is so very subjective and personal. Thanks for the video!
As a rule I don't like square watches that are not digital, but that Galbee could change my mind! It isn't too large for you and it does seem to work really well. I say go for it!
I have a 2000 SS version that my wife bought new for my birthday. My fav feature is the dial and the sapphire on the crown. Least fav feature is the size, pretty small for my 6 3/4” wrist. Even though it’s small it does have a masculine look IMO. Here is an idea for future podcast…watches with guilloche dial. I love these dials. I also have a 2001 Montblanc with a guilloche dial which is very similar.
Oh Robert! I could talk about guilloche for a very very long time 😅😍😍😍😍 absolutely love it! And your wife is a TOP LASS for gifting you the 2000 SS version! What a watch! And you’re right! I think it’s masculine enough. It sounds like you have the same wrist size as my husband. I think it looked awesome on him!
I love the Galbee, tis my grail! I thought the white dial in blue Romans in SS was stunning but the two tone you're showing is something else entirely! The 29mm size is truly for any gender and wrist size. Your nitpick about the legibility in the dial is why I'm going for the Blue Romans on that almost parchment looking dial in the all steel model. Still, the Guilloche dial and gold Romans on the one you're presenting is giving me second thoughts. Best continued recovery to you!
@@BrittPearceWatches Truly, it's such a great design. You hit on the reason why I didn't like the modern version either. I also much prefer the bezel design of the older model vs the newer. As a result though, it's a shame the modern bracelet can't be fitted to the older watch but is a trade off I'm willing to make.
would love to hear your take on a roadster, fits the "neo vintage" 2000s era, and plenty of options from quartz to automatic. Rumors are cartier will bring back roadster this year and axe the pasha
Congratulations on your progress from the accident. I could never own a Santos unless they clock the screws on the watch, preferably radial symmetry or horizontal.
Britt!! As a life member of the Cartier cult, the models of the Santos collection are all so good. Granted this one is way to small for me, I do love the two-tone style and that dial is amazing. I also agree with Editing Britt, in that there needs to be something of contrast on the dial. Pretty sure they made a large Galbee and it had blued hands, but it had a quartz movement. Overall, I have cannot let myself dive into vintage Cartier watches, or one will follow me home. I will have to live dream through you. Long Live the Cult(s)!

Galbee vs the Modern iteration of the Santos is a matter of taste. However a 29mm watch on a man is a no go. I have a 2tone and a stainless Santos in the large Variant in my collection. The 35mn Santos is already border line for any man with any size to him. It not a question of being masculine (which there is not a bad thing to be) it's a question of proportions. For a sight person like Brittany a Santos medium or the 29mm Galbee is fine. The Santos de Cartier is a 100m water resistance sports watch, that can be worn in formal settings, especially when using the Quick change system to don an alligator strap. IMO the sweet spot for a proper man's sport watch is 40mm. The large Santos is 39.8mm and fits the Bill to a T.
Wow this video has made me understand what you see in Cartier. I’m off to get a hammer for the piggy bank! (P.s. neo-vintage and useful are terms my wife uses to describe me… I think that’s a compliment)

The most important thing is how it looks plus how it looks on you. ETA movements are not just ok. They are excellent. There is nothing wrong with standardized design. ETA movements are reliable and accurate, lacking only that “cachet” of “the NAME” (the ultimate in “form” over function.) Manufacture calibers are nice, but very expensive. Not only to purchase, but to service. ETA movements cost hundreds to service. Manufacture movements cost thousands to service. Plus, that dial on the Galbee is stunning! Far more beautiful than the Santos. And the size works well for you. I hope you buy one! Besides, a “Gringa-Cartier” association is far more obvious and makes far more sense than “Gringa-Rolex.” Trust me. ⌚️😎
Broke my jaw when I was 12. Can relate. Haven't enjoyed Jello since...
Current version has printed numbers? I like the gold applied numbers. Power reserve doesn’t matter if you wear it daily.
The current Santos has too much negative space in the dial. Agreed about the bezel too.
The reason I waited so long to get my Tank is because I wanted a Galbee and I wasn't sure which way to go
Love this watch as well - how does one ensure the movement is working properly when buying such old watches?
Hope :')
You can put them on a timegrapher.

Unpopular opinion: ETA movement is actually better than in-house, because in 150 years there will still be parts since no many were made.

Wow! Beautiful, classy watch. Gordon Gecko approved.
Hi. Do you worry about sthe fact it scratches easily on the bezel?

Galbee vs the Modern iteration of the Santos is a matter of taste. However a 29mm watch on a man is a no go. I have a 2tone and a stainless Santos in the large Variant in my collection. The 35mn Santos is already border line for any man with any size to him. It not a question of being masculine (which there is not a bad thing to be) it's a question of proportions.
