@@wuzz111 Oh shoot, yer right. XD
A smal correction: the sustained damage stat is for the whole laser system, having more firing pieces using the same system will split that sustained damage between them but will still allow you to do more burst damage by using up the stored energy faster.
This also means that taking out one of those firing pieces will do very little, as the others will pick up the slack.
finally someone explained that to me, thanks.
Does that apply to built firing pieces or do they have to shoot in order to split the damage?
If I were to make a broadsiding craft with lasers and had 1 firing piece per side, do they split the damage?
@@Justfalor only to the ones that are actually shooting: "sustained damage" is simply how fast the laser can recharge its own energy.
Basically, having more firing pieces is almost always good.
@@asrieldreemurr5029 well, not exactly, if you have q-switch, more firing pieces will render into less energy per pulse, giving a chance for blocks to withstand pulses.
@@maxdefire damage is divided regardless of the amount of qswitches, even with 0 you get less damage per tick.
If you want to set a minimum shot damage just use a regulator, that way more firing pieces still give you more redundancy.
Also, that only makes sense for very high shot damage values, worrying about blowing off metal beams in 2 shots rather than 1 is pointless because aim point selection is a thing.
1. Well THAT is interesting. As far as I know, no, spin block clipped armour is not allowed. I have informed Majyst to see what he has to say about the Candela doing that.
2. Fun Fact: The Exajoule has the most potent laser in the game. I know this as I spent ages in her most recent update making sure of this, and making sure the engines could keep up with it. Fitting such a massive laser in the Exajoule took alot of work.
3. Yep, Exajoule having one turret is a MASSIVE weakness, and that is intentional. Both to differentiate it from the Candela and Impaedance, and to make it more fun to fight. In theory, if you want, a player can try and hit it manually, for example, or try and keep to the blindspot behind the rear bridge. Not to mention back when first built lasers were even more OP, so it was kind of necessary to allow people to be able to beat her.
4. Yeah, high-speed craft having MASSIVELY disproportionate damage done to them is a real issue, in testing the Angstrom would just suddenly be halved basically because of it, really needs to be fixed.
Regarding 1. it might be a decoration, i remember when i rebuilt the laser system looking at the turrets and there was a whole bunch of mimics on spinblocks.
The work you have done on the LH craft is incredible. Just the design of the bridges alone is worth loading a few of these up in designer and walking through the craft. Inspiring stuff!
Lightning Hoods in General: so i want a laser smacked on a fast craft with Lams and dont forget about the Lasers, lots and lots of lasers
Candela note: I rebuilt the laser system, don't believe it's been noticeably modified since i did, there was a regulator on there so the damage per shot value is likely acurratte, thats why it flickers, it needs to met that minimum value before a pulse can fire again. Also the extra spin-blocks are actually for mimics unless the turrets have been modified since last time i looked.
p.s Im-Pee-Dance
p.s.s Black Current has Huge Missiles.
@@darthkarl99 what
Who thought it was a good idea to give subs the most broken and annoying to deal with craft type huge missiles the most annoying and hard to deal with weapon
@@mattycorkum7725 Subs are easy to deal with, Torpedoes, Super-cav APS, and PAC can all hurt them they can;t use LAMS effectively, and they die if they take more than 20% health in damage.
Your just not going to kill them with the same ships you'd use to fight a bulwark, but the same is true of fast long range airships so there's nothing special about that.
Huge missiles if they're not kinetic horrors like on the Basking Shark are also manageable threats.
pronounced impeedance, impedance is the measure of electrical resistance, as in, how much the current is impeded.
The best way to fight these things is when the weather is bad. It's a bit cheesy, but it works better than having your craft be sliced I'm half by 60k damage per second.
Oooh, good point! Didn't think of that. 😁
In my latest campaign game I had alot of satellites to spy on a single Candela completely wrecking the Deepwater Guard and then myself.
Something about using 45k-resource missile-boats to then jump to fighting 1-million resource alien tech destroyer that moves faster THAN THE MISSILES im firing.
Candela moment.
Candela designer has some 'splainin to do.
I only helped by doing a rebuild of mostly the laser system, but your welcome.
First time I fought a Candela, I got an insanely lucky hit on the front hydrofoil and it just flipped.
God I wish I was so lucky the second time.
IIRC and from what I can see from the video, the black current has huge missiles as of the new update.
Indeed it does.
It also had them last update! 10 huge missiles for a "medium" submarine, absolutely fine.
I fought a candela for the first time today. I accidentally one-shotted its AI and took it down in the opening salvo of the fight. I have no idea how this happened.
32:10 Same thing happened to me while testing against the Terawatt but it was a 'better' hit and it immediately sank.
The LH are annoying, but I like how they look. Rails, smoke and missiles (like all craft) are a pretty good solution. Having an offensive laser on your own craft (even a low damage one) is a good tactic as well as it will mess up a crafts lams and make it alot easier to get projectiles thru. I did revisit the smoke shells for aps, but it doesn't seem that they are very effective, or at least not as good as they were. Good vid sir!
Video splash image "Lighting Hoods" as opposed to "Lightning Hoods"
00:46 - The Im-PEE-dance, echoing darthkarl99. You see the Imp, he dance.
09:47 - Uhh...that is not how I remember it from the Wizard of Oz.
11:37 - To be fair, lasers due exceed the power of hurled stones.
16:22 - Curses, hydrofoiled again!
30:56 - I do believe that's what happens when an LH vessel just gives up.
Lighting Hoods...
DAMN IT I EVEN DOUBLE-CHECKED THAT 😆
Warlord is broken. just don't do test with it. I'm working on it but no guarantee it will be accepted or not tho.
Man my fleet was not ready for a joint war with the deep water guard and lightning hoods. I’m on easy and I pull up to that resource zone where Sals fleet usually sits and there’s an exajoule just chillin next to the dwg resource harvester
Guess i gotta buold some submarines. For some reason i pretty much always end up fighting LH first in the neter campaign.
You know what would be REALLY FUN? Adding rubber to the bottom of those craft. Imagine them sliding across the landas well as water lol.
I like this faction. But I think they don't realy fulfill their entire potential
Agreed. They also really don't feel like tech thieves, as everything is put together so perfectly and as if ot eas designed for the craft
MOAR RAM.
@@comet.x I would've liked if they retrofitted some SS craft and replaced the aps with lasers
LH has some cool craft, when I try to build my own laser craft, I usually end up with building a tall box lol
13:00 you can clearly see at the top of the missile tube 2 wedges and a single block so 3 blocks wide, inside the missile silo it expands a block to either side 3+2=5 wide total, large missiles ar 2x2, huge are 5x6. This is a huge missile
Hot take: while I absolutely despise all thee of these annoying things I think I actually hate fighting the Eclipse more.
the candelas bounce is rudder cheese, it's there to screw with detection/aim in waves.
The entire Most Wanted series in a nutshell: use submarines.
Well, so far anyway. There are some craft that hard-counter subs, I just haven't gotten to them yet...
Borderwise the missiles on the black current are huge missiles, also the Candala has spinblock merged heavy armour beams? Sneaky
The warlord needs a buff it falls out of the sky really easily and its pacs get disabled super easily
Those pesky lazor brains!
I think I killed one the single turreted one with prop planes with he emp medium missles or at least one that looked like it
I wanna see you modify the megalodon.
Same
Oh no
Megalodon canoe with super crams
oh uh...karb will probably mad about this. D:
I saw you say many times in many different videos that a craft is annoying, but which is the most annoying in your opinion?
Not sure I can say which one is the most annoying of all, but the Candela, Goshawk, Black Current and Basking Shark are pretty good contenders.
LH in response to the description: Never!
I mean I don't think anyone wants to fight these ships.
Not like strategic AI is competent enough to put them out anyway. They prefer spamming smaller designs despite playing at difficulty 3 with max. growth factor...
Well, to be fair. One time they did throw 4 candelas and a handful of exajoules at me, which is odd because you don't see AI do that often.
@@Ivy_TSG how'd you fair?
@@Oscar-vs5yw Made a submarine with honkin big railguns that would draw fire from it, then my laser destroyer and cruiser would take care of it.
Once though candela ran out of resources right at the beginning of the battle though lol.
But imo submarine is a bit boring way of doing things, they're very uninteractive. Next time i think i'll use my battleship against them.
The black current had it's ACB spawned nike replaced with Huge missiles. BW those were not large missiles. Those where the cheeky huge missiles.
Huh. You'd think I could tell them apart easier...
twing guard r my ops
LH need some more godlys personally i think they should get rid of one of them and add a more interesting and different craft
Cliffs snd mountsins sre their ensmies
I agree that lasers aren't mechanically balanced right now and are not satisfying to put together. Realistically though, lasers already have 40-60 AP so the only point of increasing the AP is getting through smoke. Oddly enough, stacking tons of wood is great laser defense because the health to cost ratio is so much better than the damage to cost ratio for lasers.
Don't be fooled, the Candalla has roughly 300k of cavities and a few hundred k more of frequency doubler's. Laser systems may be dirt simple, but they're by no means unbalanced IMO.
@@darthkarl99 I just meant they cost a lot compared to wood which has a lot of health
Technically you might as well divide laser damage by 3 out the gate. Between shields and smoke they are normally 18 to 30% ap. So 120AP gives 40AP after shields.
Why would a company need a bunch of laser warships?!
Forget the godlies, the Exadyne should be next!
Actually everything you said applies there too
13:00 They're huge...
Welcome to "cheese" bcz Majist is ok with this kind of bullshit
When ur next stream boi
Wait, reflector shields? I thought shields didn't do anything against lasers?
They do now. They don't have separate modes anymore, they defend against both.
@@BorderWise12 Ah, ok. Thats good to know.
@@kre8or465 As BorderWise says shield do double duty now, strength 10 shields are actually really nice laser defence, and they do a decent job of limiting APS damage. Just real power hogs.
Anyone else find the LH and Scarlet Dawn to be really...uninteresting factions? There's nothing about them that really appeals to me
I see since each vid takes so long you just decided to put all of them in the same video.
Not really. It's because these three craft are similar enough that what works on one tends to work on all three.
First comment pog?
Shutup and add spaced armor to sentinel already
@@chadreview9403 i added le focken HA slopes for heet protec
Lightning Hoods in general are just garbage. The game would be significantly better if the faction was just taken out.
I don't think that's entirely fair, there are some generally interesting craft, but they've got a tendency to feel a bit samey. They over focus the lasers a bit much and under focus anything else.
They have potential, but there's only so much variety you can have with lasers.
I think the LH have some of the best looking craft and are probably the best faction that actually stays in their theme. Once you know how to beat one of their godly craft, they become pretty easy to beat, which also works pretty well against alot of the SD craft as well.
Nah they are just difficult to counter without watching a video. Being difficult doesn't make them bad the craft designer made extremely unorthodox and original craft.
A lot of the other factions you can have boats that can handle several different factions, until you run into the Lightning Hoods absolutely nothing you have will be able to fight those and you'll have to put r&d into lightning hood killers. It is a very tough faction.
