Mate the thing about Richie was he could tackle the opposition and come out with the ball. He was a turnover genius. He could tackle still be on his feet yet if you have the ball and are on the ground you have to release it. And only someone on their feet can pick it up. We'll he would. And he was so good at it that if you look up hits on Richie Mc Caw you will see how other international teams started to target him intentionally and what he put his body thru. Aside from that he was the most successful captain ever in All Black history and led the All Blacks on their most successful run ever. 148 international games one of the highest in the sport. A true leader of men and a great All round player of the game
He was absolutely relentless. Absolute mentality. In the 2011 World Cup final McCaw played with screws in his foot from surgery he didn’t recover in time. He played and never showed and ounce of hurt.
McCaw is the best flanker and tackler ever in rugby, how he used to tackle get back up on his feet and turn the ball over in the ruck and win possession back was phenomenal. He is one of the GOATS.
Funny thing about Richie is he himself and even his coaches have all said he was the slowest least athletic person and compared to others he wasn’t outstanding strength wise either! But he was always the fittest hardest working person in the room, he always put his body on the line 120% and he is considered the best to ever do it by the vast majority! Winning mentality, lead NZ to 2 World Cup victories! Absolute legend of the game !!
He's the equivalent of an NFL player who can force fumbles basically. It's just far more important in rugby because the the ball stays live after the tackle.
All Blacks is the name of the national team that represents New Zealand on the internation stage. For reference the American national side is called the Eagles.
Richie McCaw, world's best blind side flanker! Really nice guy too. In Christchurch as a class project the kids at a primary school (US grade school) made a life sized papier-mâché statue of Richie McCaw. The teacher told a friend what they were doing and she said she knew Richie's girlfriend and gave her a call. When the kids finished their statue they had an unveiling of it. All the kids were sitting on the floor and the teacher pulled the curtain to one side and there stood the real Richie McCaw in his All Black stripe. You can imagine the look on the kid's faces!
After years of rugby and putting his body on the line. He is now retired and flys helicopters. He also has started getting into long distance running and runs competitions all the time. He seems to like challenging his mind and body.
McCaw is not the player that you want to react to if you're new to the game. Highlight wise you won't see much that excites you, but he is probably the best or at least one of the top three players of the last 20 years. But you really need to understand the game to get why he is so good, especially at the break down (when someone is tackled and what happens right after that). So you won't really see what is so good about him in this video, he's not a highlight player but is one of the best players ever.
bro they have world 7s tournament on now in London...that is 7 players a side rugby if you wanted to check that out, the US has a team in there in both men and women's ...they only play like 10 minutes a half...just if you were interested
So the Number 7 has several responsibilitys, one of them is to try and gain possession of the ball when the opposition has it. When a tackle is made there is a short opportunity for the defending player to attempt to steal the ball from the ruck (the pile of body's on or around a tackled players). What you may have missed is that although Richie made some great tackles with great form he ALSO managed to steal the ball or put the tackled player and ball into a position for his team to steal the ball. I played 7 for many years and loved watching Richie play (apparently from when he played against my team... he was a cheating B at them times haha)
It's tough to appreciate Richie McCaw's game without understanding the intricacies of rugby (which are many and varied). When you really understand the game (which takes years) he's the greatest player ever, he's not the best for a highlight reel though.

Goat 🐐 played every game like it was his last and left it all out there! Absolute beast 💪🏾
Great reaction once again. These are the type of players I enjoy to watch. Hard worker and passionate on the field.
''Next player I'm reacting to is Shaun Johnson'' 3 rugby reactions later still waiting lol. Love the reactions please keep them coming

No youtube video could ever really do ri hie justice. This man is the GOAT of rugby, and maybe the greatest leader of any sport.

His grandfather was a ww2 fighter ace.

Apart from^*
You can't steal the ball from a ruck
Tell Richie that 😉
@@spitsfreemanwhy?
@@brucefale6132 if you have your hands on it before the ruck forms, you are allowed to continue to use your hands.
His nickname should have been *crocodile* the way he wrapps and turns his whole body after wrapping haha

In the best All Black team ever I've got him at 7.
You should watch the most feared rugby team in the world
