1976_Composed By [Based On "Flight Of The Bumble Bee"] -- Rymsky-Korsakov Written-By, Arranged By, Conductor -- Walter Murphy Producer -- Thomas J. Valentino & Walter Murphy
Finally I found this, I don't know the title but the melody has been stored in my memory since 1977. It's 2021 now. Thanks for sharing. God bless you more!
I was a 16 yr old radio DJ in Louisiana when this came out in Winter of 1976, so LOVED it!! The second half that begins at 3:30 was an altered version used for a TV movie called "The Savage Bees" that was on ABC in Feb. 1977. (Both versions appeared on the single and radio promo versions on either side.) It was about the actual landing on our shores of the African-ized "killer" bees that at the time had been predicted to happen by 1980, only it happened a lot sooner. The bees got here by freighter from South America and promptly started wasting folks around New Orleans. The smarty pants professor with the savvy local sheriff used the then brand new Louisiana SuperDome to freeze the bees and end the onslaught. Oh, it was wonderful! We were saved! ..and then they focused on that ONE bee they missed!
Great info, especially on Part 2. I was wondering if it was for something like the NBC Sunday Night Mystery Movie (Columbo, McMillan and Wife, Quincy, etc.). It's like they went back into the studio with Part 1, added an ARP 2600, more strings, french horn, and extra wah wah guitar.
When I was a little kid, I had the 45 RPM single with "AFifth of Beethoven" on it. One day I was checking out B sides and found this, and really really liked it. I was about 7
On this day in 1976 {December 18th} the Walter Murphy Band performed "Flight '76" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was in it's first of two weeks at #44 on Billboard's Top 100, that was also it's peak position on the chart, and it spent ten weeks on the Top 100... Beside "Flight '76", the band had two other Top 100 records, "A Fifth of Beethoven" {#1 in 1976} and "Themes from E.T. (The Extra-Terrestrial)" {#47 in 1982}... Walter Anthony Murphy, Jr. will celebrate his 65th birthday tomorrow on December 19th {2017}...
OMG Thanks so much for posting this! Can you PLEASE provide a download link for the album? Its almost impossible to find! THANKS! Preferable in FLAC format plz.
ví la pelicula discopath y salia este tema(aunque no sabia su nombre en ese momento).felizmente,en los creditos salian las canciones y asi ...llegue aquí.
Why A Fifth of Beethoven got all the attention when this was the bomb this is a really good disco record for hustle or whatever people liked to do in 76 but it's very very cool

The bees died off when the temperature achieved 45°F. That breed can't survive refrigeration.
wow !! didn't know there was a PART I & II !!! .. great composition !! thank you for sharing !!
I didn't know there was a Part 2 to this already awesome song. COOL!
Wow, Seventies! I played drums to these songs. The disco era. I am 57 now.
God this is so wonderful - memories of summer holidays in Europe driving through France & Spain in the 70s - Marvelous times.
This song is perfection so glad I was 18 and dance the night away with songs like this back then thank you for the memories DJ ☺️
You should listen to the original "Flight of the Bumblebee" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakoff.
Finally the 12" version! :)

Una obra de arte musical, espectacular, para buenos oídos y gustos musicales, del ruso Rimski K, vuelo del moscardon, exelente arreglos.
I was sixteen. This theme was used to a TV movie back then. A movie about bees attacking and killing people, even children😟--M
Anyone else seeing replays of CHiPs in their head while listening to this ?
I had the 8 Track of this album and listened to it along with the 'Destroyer' album by Kiss...both kept me occupied while studying.in high school.

this theme would have been great if they had updated the green hornet in the late 1970s.
Sorry to comment so very late but that would've been an excellent idea. Even Bruce Lee's family probably would've liked that as well.
Look up JSU Sonic Boom Flight 76'. You all will thank me later.
Best :)
There's a video or two of my friend Samara Cohen aka Princess Lockeroo Waccking to this song
