@@imspring3033 its meaningful I saw when I read through the comments that people may think it's disgusting for a parent to have a favourite child and that line is terrible etc.
To me instead it shows how much love Alice has given to Betty and true it is crappy and little but bear in mind that she is trying her best to be a good mother even though people think that it's not true. In my opinion Polly is not her favourite child is because of hers and Alice's past. Alice sent away her child 2 to therapy and had barely properly spoken to her since she planned on running away with Jason. I can see Alice's love somewhat fading. On the other hand Betty was always with Alice even when Alice was rude and stuff Betty always was there and I think that's a reason why she favourites her.

I know a lot of people say they feel sorry for Betty and I do too but I feel even more sorry for Polly. She got pregnant as a teenager from Jason who was one of her relatives , Jason died, she got sent to the sisters of quiet mercy, her father was a serial killer who is dead now, she was used by the farm, is in an asylum now and Alice cares more about Betty than her.
At least Betty has Jughead, Veronica and Archie and the possibility to finish school and go to college. Polly has none of that.

S3- joined a cult because of Polly and was working undercover with Charles
And now we learn that Betty is Alices favorite

This is such a great moment. Betty calling out Alice and them talking about their problems. Alice is one of the most human parents. All of the times Alice breaks down Betty is the only person that's there for her every time. She's going to have a closer bond with someone that always comforts her. Parents do have emotional problems and they do try their best with their kids, but a lot of the times they do take out their emotional problems on their kids unintentionally. They are people they're going to have a kid they connect with better or have a stronger bond with. They still love all their kids, but that happens. It's also usually the youngest who's the favorite. Besides Alice joined a cult and tried to secretly take it down just to save Polly. She obviously loves her and would do a lot for her.
i applaud the writer(s) for this this episode and especially this scene it got me very emotional

I feel awful for Polly, it’s not her fault that she was brainwashed and now everyone, including her family hates her. They’re supposed to be the ones that love her and her mom loves one of her daughters more than the other.
Betty has tried to keep Polly included in her family but each time she kept leaving. Betty broke up with her boyfriend and kicked her Bestfriend to the side so that Polly could stay alive. I feel bad for her too but she was the one who needed therapy the most.
so you're saying that if your daughter held you down in a tub of water while you gasped for air and almost drowned, helped brainwash you into joining a cult that took advantage of multiple people and made her do horrible things to the other daughter, left multiple times in the worst ways, and tried to turn you against your other daughter you would love her the same as someone who was always there for you and didn't give up on trying to help you wile she did those things? I mean, who would you love more: the one who almost killed you or the one who saved your life??

I feel sorry for Polly but it’s not unexpected she loves Betty more. I low-key love that she loves Betty the most because I’ve seen them the most and developed the love for their relationship. She wanted Betty to be better than her make better choices and she did. On her eyes Betty is the one that’s always there for her and never leaves just like everyone else.
This was honesty gonna happen sooner or later. They really needed to have this conversation. I've been waiting for this for so long. I think if you watch the series over you can honestly tell she loved Betty more then her other children. Like with my mom I can honesty tell who she likes the most. She loves us equally but she likes one child more then the other.

Betty is my favorite but she had to become smart and mature due to shitty circumstances. And even tho she seems so strong and independent, children like her have a lot of issues to solve later on. (it's a series yes but irl that happens often)

Betty got EVERYTHING off her chest, she's remembered all the bad things Alice has done to her, she had every right to be mad like that, the part that kills me is when Betty talks about how she's intimate with Jughead and that they sleep in the same bed, she said that with all that sarcasm😂😂😂

the problem is that Alice refuses that Betty grows up, you can see it in all seasons, Alice wants to keep Betty "small" because she gets bigger and bigger, you can see it in season 1 and everything else, she tries to control her relationships, where she goes, her makeup, and a lot of other things. I know it can be hard for a parent to watch their child grow up to be a beautiful young woman, but this is the cycle of life, but that doesn't mean Betty will no longer love her mother or will not support her anymore, now it's up to Alice to accept that Betty is no longer a child. Alice has always wanted to control everything, whether it's in her life or in the lives of her childrens, she always wants to know everything, do everything, say everything, and it becomes painful for Betty. She is a young woman and now she needs to think about herself, about her studies and everything else without being worried about her mother. Betty will ALWAYS love and support her mother, but that’s the cycle of life, a parent can’t keep their childs to themselves (don’t even know if it makes sense.) Alice need to let Betty go…Even tho it’s hard.

I'm one of these people that likes the show ironically, I just love how this guidance counsellor just doesn't need any other context to this - she first appears here and is already hearing rants about the serial killer gene, long lost relatives and joining cults.

This scene was such an awful reveal and didn’t even make sense?! She loves Betty more, but does no one remember how Alice was fighting tooth and nail to get Polly back in season 1, or how she prioritized a man who she thought was her long lost son over Betty’s own comfort in season 2?
The reveal could have been because Alice is ashamed that she failed raising Charles and Polly. Charles was literally stripped away from her after he was born. That could have caused understandable ptsd for Alice and that actually would explain why she’s a helicopter mom. And she lost Polly to Jason and the Farm and that caused a massive blow. That would actually be better reasoning as to why she’s so protective of Betty, the baby and the good child. But more importantly her last child

Can we just talk about how every single time she’s found out about Betty and Jughead doing the devils tango she’s wanted to make sure that they were safe but now she’s mad about it also we’ve been over that like 4 times really. Also it’s really weird how the Cooper/Smith’s live with the Jones’s like isn’t FP still married so he’s actively cheating on Gladys and earlier in the show Alice was cheating on Hal at the same time with FP like this is the most messed up thing about this show. Okay maybe not but it’s up there. (Edit) Also it’s effed up that FP is cheating on his wife with everyone’s knowledge Betty Jughead and Jellybean and Charles all know but aren’t gonna say anything.
I thought FP and Gladys were separated, twice? Doesn't that typically lead to a divorce, especially when what lead to the separation was the endangerment of their children?

Penelope has had a life of terrible circumstances and Alice has had a life of horrible decisions which means everything that's wrong in her life is her fault. They're both bad parents and emotionally abusive in different ways but I think Alice took it too far with her own children.

Pretty sure Jessica knows how to deal with children. I mean she has deal with two back at the firm.
The only thing I dislike about this scene is that the therapist never tries to see things from Alice's perspective and they both turn on Alice when really that's not what therapy should be. No one should feel targeted or attacked. Parenting is hard, that's no excuse, but this show seems to be leading in the direction of parent= dumb child= adult/right
