- Vietnamese girl tries American snacks for the first time.
I brought back some of my favorite childhood American snacks for my Vietnamese wife to try and get her reaction.
Which snack is your favorite? What US foods did I miss?

Which USA snacks are your favorite? What did I miss?
No Nillas lol?? Good selection though!
jerky for sure... shouldve got her some slim jim and some cheetos "flaming hot" too. Not USA per se but would recommend to try polish "kabanos"
Combos, slimjims, crackerjack, cheezeits, tastycakes (or some other kind of cake)
Man, I thought she was about to burst out crying over the Beef Jerky... and only 2 bags...
Really though, good job...for bringing her some happiness.
Peanut M&M's or chocolate covered almonds.
Her English has improved a lot.
Thanks Andy! She's been working hard.
@@TwoWheelCruise You’re welcome. Can definitely tell she’s been working hard on learning English.
Watching Thuong’s child like reaction to the various foods was priceless ! She has got it in one , the sweeter the product, the bigger its consumer, so really, it is a blessing not to be born with a sweet tooth.
Haha that was entertaining. Her reactions were so genuine and her English has definitely improved a lot! Hope you can do a Vietnamese fruit mukbang (I’m pretty sure they have a huge variety of amazing fruits like Thailand & the Philippines) or a ride & tour of the grocery and farmers’/fresh produce/wet market like you did in Nagoya. Really enjoy all your content and especially surprised you haven’t gotten your silver button yet. Please subscribe people!
Thuong would like doing that video haha. Thank you!
This was a great video. I really enjoyed watching your wife trying American snacks and giving her opinion. She is great. I think you should come in the winter to the USA.
Maybe it's because this video requires so much more speaking, but I feel like Thuong's English has really improved. Great job! It was also fun to see someone try familiar items for the first time.
Feeding the bear, today:
6:14 - _Somebody's_ anxious. 😂
7:17 - She kills me. 🤣
First up this was great video content and this was my favorite version of Thuong EVER!
The look on her face when she couldn't have the original jerky. 🤣
You HAVE to film when she finally gets it. Loved this video Cruise. 👊🏾
I've always mixed the flavored oatmeal with 2 packs of plain to get the sweetness down.
Good idea
i'm american but i love tim tams from australia. we live in okinawa and my wife brought back some german chocolate cake, my favorite, from family mart and i was shocked that they had it. apparently the american military presence in okinawa has had a big influence on their food choices. if you're missing japan food, naha japan is only a 45 minute flight from taipei
Nice to see you guys together again. Thuong chan looks very happy
I can't believe you brought that much food back 🤣 🤣 🤣
I brought an empty suitcase to bring back food haha
7:20 Thuong's huge laugh looks like a mix of evil + delight, knowing she's going to *_devour_* that beef jerky
This is a fun vid ❤
I was born in Highland Park, Michigan, but grew up in California. Meijer brings back memories of shopping with my grandmother on summer trips to Michigan. Meijer was her favorite store.
Back when I used to eat candy my favorites were: Hot Tamales; Lemon Heads; and Jolly Ranchers (apple or watermelon)
Meyers is great. It's really only in the upper midwest. Wisconsin, illinois, Michigan. Might be one in indiana. It started in michigan. Fred Meyer was from Michigan, and created one of the first superstores. It was a model that Walmart later used. Another reason to love Michigan. The only thing that might be missing from your video today was some Spartan gear!
I'm near Indianapolis, we got our first Meijer back about 1995, or so.
My Grandparents lived in Grand Rapids for many years (before retiring to Florida) so we were familiar with _Meijer Thrifty Acres_ stores from the '60s on...
Meijer is definitely in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That was my favorite grocer when I lived there...I'm in Japan now. I've been watching your channel since before I moved here a few years ago
Thuong san is very polite, haha to say "no" to some of the American's snacks so she says "ok" ;)) For me I prefer salty over sweet snacks.
It would be great to see TWC in Australia. Cairns is the obvious first stop being further north and closer to Asia, but also very unique for its coral reef, tropical islands and rainforests. (quite flat for riding too)
Fun video! we have meijer in KY too!
A happy wife is a happy life👍. Just Seeing Thuong dig into US snacks makes me laugh... But my fav is honey maid👌.. but just look at her eyes on the jerkies.. 😂
Great vid🎉I’m going to Taiwan next month. Safe travels
Yay Michigan! ...........I'm in Kalamazoo and shop at Meijer every week.
Ted, when Thoung gets her visa, I would avoid taking her to Outback Steakhouse or any steakhouse. Because you are never going to get her out and the doggie bag may be a little heavier than normal. In CO, we don't have your grocery store chain. Cheers! I hope you and Thoung can get a visa for her to visit the US and your home town.
#2. Love her facial expressions while trying the treats. Her English is coming along great. Thanks for sharing you two...🎥😃😄👍👌👊🙏🙏
😊 thank you
Good choice on the snacks. I love some good beef jerky. We don't have a meiger down south. We're in WalMart country with a few grocery stores here and there. Have fun in Taiwan!
i really love ranch mayo.
dice salmon, lettuce, red cabbage, onion, beansprout, slice of avocado, kale leaf, slice of steam bitter melon, dice of Fuji Apple or Pear, boiled peas, then the last sprinkle of fried shallot.
the best balance food i ever made with raw ingredient
Dang bro! I think you covered it all! 😂 raisinets are my favorite. Hot Tamales are my wife’s favorite.
also solid!
Very funny and enjoyed it alot.
Great video! Her reactions to the extreme sweetness was awesome. I'm surprised though that Vietnam doesn't have any restrictions for any meat products, like Japan or Korea. Also for the Teriyaki beef jerky, it's probably softer since that uses a liquid marinade. Maybe put a piece of paper towel in the bag to absorb some of the moisture. 🙂👍
If you can get thinly sliced meat, then there are several different methods of drying it to make homemade jerky. Much cheaper (in the U.S.) then packaged jerky and you can flavor it anyway you want to. It just needs to be very lean meat and thinly sliced (any butcher can do this).
Will have to try that one day.
This was super cute🥰
Awwww Everybody in Texas love jerky and I sure love jerky myself
I grew up in California, just spent 3 months in Minnesota this year and hadn't seen that grocery store before. I live in Chiang Mai which is my wife's home town, Graham crackers, rice crispy treats, licorice, and little Debby Nutty Buddies is what I always bring back from the states. I love beef noodle bowls in Taiwan and the pineapple cookies from the air port are the best. Have a good trip you two.
Yes, the beef noodles and pineapple cakes are great! We also really miss kao soi!
Thuong's reaction kills me. I love her excitement and how she reacted to that beef jerky. Yeah I like jerky too but it got too expensive to buy so i had to give it up. I will sometimes eat milk duds and my mom likes the hot tamales too. I don't like the pop tarts or the oatmeal cinnamon brown sugar because like your wife said it is too sweet. I usually go for the fruit flavored ones. Also I no longer like rice krispy treats because they don't taste like they used too. I also agree with her when she said that the v-neck is too low. I have some like that and it bothers me because i can't wear them. I liked the hoodie on her it looked good and comfortable. Can't wait for the cycling videos. Great video.
Chex Mix, Pringles and peppered jerky are my favorites.
Wow,you have lots of snacks and clothes for your Sweatheart. She very happy about it
I normally don’t like these kinds of videos but because I enjoy your content, I found her reactions to the food fascinating.
Michigan is also my favorite place in the US. Spent part of my childhood there in Ann Arbor while my mom studied in UMich. Some of the best memories of my life in that campus :)
We don't normally make videos like this, but it was fun to try something new and let her experience some new foods
This made me realize how things in our own countries we think of as normal, but to others it is foreign / amazing.
Meijer I've never heard of (I'm in the USA). I looked it up and it is in 6 different states,
OMG, I had all of that as a kid in Canada and still enjoy it - hard to pick one! I Luv all that u brought home... can u deliver... LOL (ENJOY U 2)
Never heard of this Midwest chain & per Wiki, The chain is ranked No. 13 on Forbes magazine's 2021 list of "America's Largest Private Companies". Based on 2020 revenue, Meijer is the 21st-largest retailer in the US. My favourite is Trader Joe’s which isn’t available in Vancouver Canada yet. U should try them out next. Also, I would highly recommend u try a local NW favourite chips called Tim’s Cascade (Jalapeño). Finally, could never get used to US beef jerky, as I’m addicted to the Taiwanese style. Skip the Costco’s Korean style which are too sweet.
I loved Trader Joes, should of grabbed some snacks from there too! We did get some Taiwanese jerky for Thuong to try too
Tuon seems to like the hoodie best, sweatshirt #2.
You think it's you own flannel, but if Tuon likes it, it's going to be hers. That's just being married.
Haha that's true
"It's too much sugar. I think I'll be fat." "...okay, time for more sweets!" 😂 By the way, the teriyaki jerky is probably softer because it's been marinated.
Cycle Route # 1 in Taiwan looks amazing, from what I've seen of it. If you had the time, you could even ride round the whole island. Anyway, enjoy your trip.
Yes, we really want to do this full route one day!
The hoodie for sure
Funny reaction to the t-shirt. Perhaps not your style, but you still look great Thuong!
I like it, Cruise. Your lovely wife is a modest lady. You've struck gold man...she's a keeper.
Closest Meijer to me is in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Love all the American snacks Lol! 🤣
Nice, I didn't know they had one there.
When I was working as an "Owner Driver",( interstate ) they used to sell Beef Jerky and road kill . to keep You going,Yuk both to me products to were gross, I always preferred a small cheese burger , and medium coke coke and cheese burgers were good and kept me going between Sydney and Melbourne .
Wow, her English is getting good 👍
Thank you!
Safe travels!
I used to live in the US and shop at Meijer all the time. I recognize those bags and snacks! Thuong, did you know that many Meijer stores are open until 12AM?
Best time to go!
great video...I would say Lemonheads where missing....
You can use all the sweet treats as bike snacks and the jerky and chips for recovery. 😂
My daughter eats one of those Rice Krispies Treats every time before she goes to the gym. It seems a little counter-intuitive, or counter-productive to me LOL but I guess they're good for quick energy?
They are great for quick energy and don't make you feel bloated
Sour Patch Kids are great. The sour cream and onion are the best pringles. I'm not sure if you can find Nerds outside of the U.S but Nerds are good, and an interesting candy to try. Combos would be another interesting one for her to try.
Thanks for your suggestion! I thought about nerds, but she is not a big fan of pure sugar type snacks.
Truong loves Beef Jerky too I think we would be good friends alright!! 😋😋😋 but actually Cruise I’m really more into Asia Food now that’s more close to my heart now!! 🫶🫶🫶
@3:32 i havent ever seen it in tennessee
Beef jerky bring happiness 😊😂
Any plans to come back to Japan?
I was surprised when I realized we share the same path along Yada river.
It certainly does for her. We don't have any plans right now, but do want to come back sometime.
Wow, you brought a lot back!! But, no Nillas?? Loved watching her reactions though. I also love jerky and meat haha. Also, no Meijer in Maryland. Or Kroger :(
I had an empty suitcase ready for snacks haha. I can't believe I missed the Nillas though, next time!
Growing up in the US, I always preferred v-neck shirts... after living in Taiwan for a few years, I react like Thuong now lol Too low!
Dude, that bear is _not_ going to be happy unless she has some of that pepper jerky. 😆
Come, on. One little piece.
The only way to eat Graham Crackers is with butter and/or peanut butter.
Never tried that!
Never heard of meijer. (Lived in NJ and Texas) Is that the main company or is there a parent company? Like kroger has a bunch of subsidiaries for example. Also ranch is better fresh made not from a bottle (wing stop ranch is the best lol)
Meijer is regional, mostly the upper midwest/Great Lakes region.
edit: I could be wrong, but I think it is still a family-owned business, not (yet) a subsidiary of some other business.
It's based in Michigan and spread to a few nearby states now from my understanding
Hot Tamales slap when dipped in peanut butter
OMG
Need a U of M sweater!
Can't believe you missed out Twinkies!
Not a fan haha
Twinkies!! I got some for my son and he didn't like it. Well, wait till he taste the fried version!
Haha fried version is better
We have Meijer in Ohio!
Sorry Cruise that's it....we need a new Thuong....not acceptable that this one doesn't like sour patch kids! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 my heart is broken 💔 😢 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha she's not a fan of sugary foods
@20:28 let her open it hubby lol
👍❤️😎
TWC shame on you to introduce her to our awful sugar habit. LOL Keep her far away from it. Look forward to your Taiwan revisit. I'll be back over there next summer. I went last year about this time, and it wasn't much fun because of two-week quarantine. I did do some riding along the river in Taipei. Enjoy yourselves.
I think he doesn't have much to worry about. Thuong seemed to agree with you that many of the snacks are too sweet for her taste.
Fortunately she is not a big fan of the sugary foods
Go with the Hoodie, no.2.
How did you get all those groceries in your luggage?
I had an empty suitcase since I travel very light
Upload more cycling videos.
Should have gotten unfrosted Pop Tarts, but they seem hard to find these days.
#2
I have ranch dressing on my salad all the time. Perhaps it nullifies the healthiness of the salad somewhat, but worth it. Never seen ranch flavoured Pringles in the UK. I’m guessing it’s US exclusive. We only really eat Pringles or Doritos at Christmas though so I’ll have a look and see what flavours they have now.
I think a lot of this stuff really shows why America has an obesity problem. People eat really unhealthy processed stuff every day rather than as an occasional treat. Same problem here as well though. We’re definitely not innocent of this. It makes people’s default state unhealthy and you have to go out of your way to eat decently.
Thuong will be addicted to ranch too soon enough. Yeah, many developing countries continue to get worse and worse diets. Largely due to unhealthy options being so much more affordable or convenient.
@2:37 i do understand im very modest and thats to low 4 me im american.
After eating all these snacks, there's going to be a lot of cycling needed to burn those calories off! 😄
Exactly haha
Meijer is also in Ohio
Canada here and I avoid all your snacks shown. Most have too much sugar and not cycling food for me.
Yeah, best to avoid most of these haha
Sweatshirt number to the Hoody
Number two lol
sweat shirt 2
Both sweatshirts are very nice! Don't worry about the size Thuong, most girls here in the US love wearing oversized hoodies and that is the style. I agree, the instant oatmeal is way too sweet. You should get Flaming hot cheetos or Takis for Thuong to try, she might like them.
You brought all that in the suitcase?😂
I brought an empty suitcase with me to bring back snacks haha
No peanut butter and jelly??
Easy to make in Vietnam, so she's had it before
Sweatshirt 2 wins
台湾のサイクリング動画楽しみ
I'm waiting for the follow-up video 'Thoung needs to lose 20lb's' 😂
haha it might happen one day
Any issues at the airport bringing the bag of spice? Looks highly suspicious haha
After eating, we gonna blowing immediately…!
I think she’s going to gain weight just by smelling the jerky but so long as she’s enjoying it go for it your too cute😊
Same… get rid of the pretzels
Careful, it looks great, but mostly empty carbs, in fact lots of refined carbs and seed oils - not great food to be honest!
Yeah, we won't be eating these often thankfully
Too many sugar and sweetener...lol hope you could get more Japanese or Chinese snacks later.
No Snickers or M&Ms?? C'mon Cruise.
Both are available in most countries, we eat snickers all the time after our rides.
CrackerJack
