    Thank you, Brian, for being the first one to do the review regarding this TV !........ IMPORTANT FACT FROM MYSELF AS PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE 85UX. Unfortunately, my 85UX "BLEW OUT" losing picture and with just sound in 30 days. The biggest question is with a TV this expensive as it is, what kind of quality control had this tv received before packaged. I want to praise Hissène for working with me regarding retuning it to their lab for evaluation. I did not opt to replace the TV as no reviews were being done during the time I purchased. It was an incredible TV and I was able to purchase it for $4,000 when first introduced making it a great buy. The TV looked just beautiful, and I would consider another Hisence TV if they tighten up their quality control standards especially if they wish to win in the high-end TV market. I had friend who purchased a 85 inch 8K Samsung and had to return them 3 times for problems right out of the box. I have my eyes currently on the Sony X95L as maybe a better choice with quality control at the moment but would reconsider the 2024 Hisence that will hopefully be an equivalent to the 85UX but with better quality control standards.

ABSOLUTELY amazing television that looks incredible...🤩...I honestly didn't think any tv would look better than the Sony X95L BUT...I don't know now! 🤔...Gorgeous, very premium looking set for sure...$4,999 is befitting of a tv of bringing so much to the table as this Hisense...It'll definitely will be between this and the stunning X95L as our choice.Thx again Brian as you are light years ahead of ANY reviewer! ❤

      nice X95L my plan too. now only having a bit of blooming and bit worse colour range - in exchange for not having all the OLED issues (lower fullscreen/larger/SDR brightness, ABL making even dimmer, burn in hoops for both you and the tv, organic pixel degradation over time anyway, ambient light activating QD quantum dots and destroying some of that infinite contast, black crush etc)

    I guess I don't understand what gaming features it's missing that rule it out for you.... If it looks good (4:4:4 at 4k?) and has low latency and no discernable negative things like ghosting or anything, I'm not sure what else you need really. I want to play my game, not fuss around with some game bar, and I game on PC as well. Not having 144hz or better is kind of a bummer though, consider it's lesser siblings do have that. Maybe next year's model will correct that. A 240hz mode (even at 1080p) would be nice too.

  • @loki76
    @loki76 11 месяцев назад +3

    I don't know what you mean with not enough game settings. It has all of them that is needed. Just a different look.
    It even had black level and white level to adjust it (more advanced than 'black equalizer' ). Only thing missing is a bunch of picture presets that end up a gimmick because most people just tune it to how they like it and use that in the actual picture settings. If any change needed then one just goes into menu and tweak it.
    You say you game on PC and so do I. Why would we need a "game bar" that crap is for console not PC. We have tons of game information settings far FAR more in depth than a TV. Just use Nvidia GPU information and you see it all down to CPU and GPU Util and clock rates and temps etc etc. Changing aspect ratio we do in Nvidia or AMD control panels and set up custom resolutions.
    Also if it has good input lag at 60/120 hz that sits among other TVs. There is nothing saying it couldn't be as good as a gaming TV. Just because QN95C can make things extremely over saturated it doesn't make it a good gaming TV.
    OLEDs of course can have faster pixel response times, but people choosing MiniLED does so for a reason or everyone would be on OLED.
    I actually like how minimal it was, the "game information". Put it at bottom middle and that's all that is needed for a quick glance if VRR and HDR is on and FPS. Not some gaudy gimmicky looking crap like most game bars that take up 80% of useless space for the information you get in return.

    • @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
      @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY  11 месяцев назад

      It's missing a game bar. Game picture presets to choose from. Basically missing nearly everything that is present on the U7K and U8K

    • @Belgarath777
      @Belgarath777 11 месяцев назад

      It's just a matter of preference. No one is right or wrong. I play on PC and PS5 and I don't need presets or a game bar. All I care about when gaming is a great picture, , color volume, smoothness, HDR, VRR, local dimming, latency, brightness, and can I see the FPS. That's just me. If someone wants a game bar and presets, that's their preference. It's great that there are several great gaming TVs out there.

    I don't feel they are ready to sit in the mix with the big guys costing the same. Meaning if they would cost like a Sammy, Sony or LG. I wouldn't choose a Hisense or TCL. I don't feel I would.
    They still have issues and not as good in processing yet, IMO. But they are definitely getting better and they also try to innovate and push more for zones and miniLED etc. So that's a good thing. It helps keep the other ones on their toes. Feels like Samsung now has to try and go for the 5,000 zone count. So will be interesting to see what 2024 offer. Also would be great if TCL and Hisense does make it more 'standard' high end with these zone counts for next year.
    I would still choose an 85" X95L over this one. It doesn't even have 1000 zones, but I bet it would look basically as good at blooming control. And as for picture quality it would be better hands down.
    My wish would be a Sony that would have twice the dimming zones and still as good of an algorithm. Because the magic they can do with that. Would easily beat a TV that does 5,000 zones but not as good of an algorithm. I like how Sony prefer to go for image accuracy and shadow detail. But that said, can you imagine a Sony with 5,000 zones and if they could still have processing power and control. I would say OLED would go bye bye. The micro contrast would be OLED like and image processing. Would be no point for burn in machines.
    I am curious about the Sharp XLED, as well. Don't think that one would beat Sony, but would sit close to it, also feel it strives for more accuracy.
    Need proper review and comparison between the two and both filmed optimally so each can be shown at their best. But no one does it.

Could you also show the difference in smothing and upscaling of both tvs? @@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Does the UX have a different picture processor? Or is it just the same as U8K but with "5,000 zones and high nits" costing more. So, if it's the same, then the Sony would be better. If it's a brand new Picture processor that somehow all of a sudden matches the big boys then yes it would be interesting. But that isn't the case though.
      5,000 zones doesn't automatically mean better.
      It's like the car world. Often see a 600HP Porsche beat out 1,000HP cars. Because Porsche is Porsche in engineering. It's how it's put to the ground that matters.
      It is cool though that TCL and Hisense is pushing the tech forward with more zones etc. But the processing needs to come along with it. And I don't think any TV brand has that power yet to really make use of it. Sony does it so well. Imagine their processor having to juggle 5 TIMES as many zones in calculations in milliseconds that is needed to adjust.
      Sony goes the way of using their algorithms to the max. I am sure Sony could just add a panel with same zone count at Samsung has used for years now. It would be an easy and lazy approach, but it could look worse.

Or I'm also looking at the (2023) Samsung 85QN90C for $2600, (2023) Samsung 8K 85QN800C for $3000, (2024) TCL 85QM851G for $2300. And I'm also thinking about going back to OLED with the (2023) Samsung 83S90C for $3300. I had the (2016) LG 65OLEDC6P & The (2020) LG 65OLEDC10P both of which had burn-in issues. The (2020) C10 less than the (2016) C6. But now that it's 2024 & there's QD-OLED I'm hoping burn-in screen retention isn't an issue anymore.

      Not really. I bet the X95L beats this TV when it comes to blooming control anyway. It would be nice for Sony to add more zones, but not until the point where their algorithm would suffer.
      It's how you use it and control that matters. Having just more zones but piss poor algorithms and control does nothing. I could see same amount of blooming in this footage and maybe even worse than some way lower TVs. I know what to look for and it wasn't "glare" I saw.

      @loki76 I'm not so sure about that. On Rtings the U8K performed pretty darn good compared to the x95l. Though I still would go with the x95l over the U8K. Considering the UX is better than the U8K, it will be interesting to see what sites like Vincent, Rtings, and Digital Trends say. I agree though with what you said about the algorithm.

For example, Rtings rated both the X95L and the U8K 9 out of 10 in contrast and dark details in game mode, the U8K has better black uniformity (though barely), and it has a higher native contrast....but yeah, that Sony processing is just about unbeatable, but being that the UX is better than the U8K, perhaps things like dark details will be impossible to distinguish between the X95L and the UX when watching content and not freezing frames to try to see those differences.

If the TV works and I don’t have to add any more cables - I will never see the back of this TV again until I take it down and move or replace it. You lost me at $5K for a Hisense. An 85” Hisense costs $500 more than a 85” Sony X95L 😂
    If all you watch is 4K content I’m sure it slaps. It can’t compete with Sony when it comes to displaying lower resolution, lower bit rate content.
    Edit: I understand it’s a Limited release and it’s basically a tech demo for Hisense. It’s cool Value Electronics has one of them in stock. I think this is good for the LCD market as a whole, as it will push the big manufacturers to step up their game. However I would never ever recommend anyone spend BIG money on a Hisense. You’ll always regret it in the end.
