well, it displaces 50 gallons of water per barrell, so that is 10 lbs per gallon, or 500 lbs per barrell. Then you should subtract some for safety..... after all you should not load it so heavy that it comes close to taking on water. I have not put a motor on, and in fact am using the project as a filtration system for my swimming pool catfish farm.

I have built something very similar to this only a bit bigger, are you going to use an engine and how much weight can yours float ?

rock solid. As long as the wood is strong and treated, and you use enough screws to hold it together.
