- Tony winner Ben Platt says he was incredibly nervous to perform while Beyoncé was in the audience at one of his Broadway shows, adding that she was lovely when they met afterward and she made him feel good about his performance. During a round of “Around the Ben’D,” Ben also talks about Barbra Streisand coming to see him in Dear Evan Hansen, where they discussed crying while singing.

I'm 68 years old, I grew up in New York City I've seen a LOT of Broadway. I saw Angela Lansbury's "Gypsy".... I could go on… I can say without question that Ben Platt's performance in "Dear Evan Hansen" is the greatest single performance I've ever seen given live on stage. If the show was called "Dear Edna Hansen" I don't think that Meryl Streep could have done what that kid did on that stage that night. He was jaw dropping!
Ben Platt is just the best! So talented and he seems so genuine and all around great guy. Love his past two albums and new singles.

Crazy how he rose to fame for bringing Dear Evan Hanson to the stage and then sent it into the garbage can when he did the movie.
I always felt the movie AND musical were lame! We go to see musicals for escapism and amazing backdrops like "Phantom of the Opera" and "Wicked". But "Dear Evan Hansen" is set in a modern day school with costumes worn by kids we see at a normal school 😅 even musicals like "Grease" and "Matilda" had cooler historical school costumes...

@PastaSauce. true...but the whole location of the musical being set in a modern-day high school with modern clothes is...boring! I could drive down the block and see that right now?! 😅 we go to musicals for whimsy and escapism and fabulous costumes. The entire wardrobe of "Dear Evan Hansen" looks like they were all dressed by Target 😅
@@MaleOrderBrideNot everyone goes to all musicals for those reasons. You may, which is fine for you, but musicals are not just one thing for every one.
