- Was fortunate enough to get a key for Selaco, so here's my review for it, enjoy.
Still think I have room to improve on my videos, actually I know I do. Need to speak a bit clearer and less monotone and by the time my Turbo Overkill video comes I hope to be better in that area.

It's going to take a really special game to over take this one as my game of the year
Agree, and seeing as there's absolutely nothing interesting at all on the horizon with AAA games it's got a high chance of staying there.
Not that it will, but there is another Ashes game incoming... it's likely to slap at least.
Final fantasy 7 rebirth and stellar blade are far better than this, maybe if you stopped only playing american games with guns you would know

@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716Mediocre slop games but ok
Selaco and Nightmare kart out on the same day? Damn, meat is really back on the menu!
Good review, thanks!
You had me at slide-kick
Bruh your voice is great for this
Hyped to see how far u go with this essay thing

Important to mention but regrettably forgot to in the review, on the bugs side most things I reported were minor or got fixed, the only one you should watch out for is that you can sometimes get caught under surfaces when sliding, with the only way to get out being reloading a save. This happened quite a lot at the start of my playthrough but by my 3rd it wasn't happening at all so I'm not sure if it got fixed or if I got lucky. Just thought I should bring it up.
Normally when I've got stuck after sliding under something, I've just had to wait for the slide cooldown to expire and I can slide right out.
@@AntiPseudo Yeah I've had that too but in the instances I mention here I was completely stuck, no amount of sliding or jumping or crouch jumping would get me out.
Idclip / noclip bro. Am I the only one still alive who grew up with doom and knows how to do basic doom things? I know that things started to change with doom 3, and Rage was fixable with config tweaking, but the player base was console whiners who were incompetent at doing it, even though every quake game required manual config tweaking. PS. Gzdoom has commands to handle terry wads like killing invincible enemies, no target, and literally resurrecting yourself from death. So there's no need to reload a save when you can bind a button to resurrect yourself. Even if the console is disabled, you can edit the config files. Bind n to noclip, v to resurrect, something like that.
@@JohnDoe-ip3oq you can't noclip without sv cheats being on.
@@FPSthetics how does that work? Does the game disable it working? Turn off achievements? If not, you lose nothing just turning it on. I don't think Selaco can "fix" this without changing the source code to gzdoom, and I don't think the game intended to be anything but a mod over gzdoom.
Funnily enough both this and Trubo Overkill have been some of my favorite games I've played ever honestly, this game is just so fucking good, and I also really look forward to your Turbo Overkill vid because that game gave me a similar "holy fuck" feeling as playing this one
Turbo Overkill is so underrated for just how amazing it is.

Great review! This is the first video that I've watched from you and I think that your voice sounds fine, but I understand wanting to improve upon it for future videos. Regardless, I can't wait for your Turbo Overkill review! :3
Thank youu
@@FPSthetics You’re welcome.
Sooo we all agree that this game that is SOMEHOW magically made in GZDoom is the best FPS of this year ?
Can you tell I like Selaco? Got 100 fps at 1080p for a few seconds on my Lonovo AMD 5500U laptop when I ducked into a closet to recover from getting hit by three enemies. If this game was all closets I'd be all set.
( The game does run fine @ non maxed out settings @ lower spec, no video card laptops. )

Looks f*** awesome! Been hearing about it, I see what people mean. You don't have to keep doing Cod thinking that's all fps are. No they had good ideas here, cool styles abd art design. The little details just make it. The AI is smart and all these cool neat things here in the game. Nightmare Kart someone said yes these two are special games this year. Fuck corporate shit... The only other shooter that can compete with this is Turbo Overkill with the chainsaw leg that game is awesome as well..
Gaming 😎 👏👏👏
not bad for an old man
It's so technically sound
have you checked out Fortune's Run? Curious on what you'd think about that, at least one to keep an eye on.
I actually haven't yet. I want to at some point though.
There maybe a reason why you don't run faster because it is rather tighter in space. In action that might have wound being an issue so they kept a certain speed..
2:33 extraordinary, you can interact with the walls
Game is great, but I had a bug that milestones that give you weapon parts didn't progress at all. I realized it only after about 3 hours of playing. I managed to fix it, but still I am not entirely sure what caused it. Still, I think I missed out on a lot of weapon parts because of it lol, but it could've been worse I guess.
Damn that's shitty, at least you managed to fix it
@@FPSthetics I also wanted to ask if the milestones are infinite? Will they keep appearing or can you finish all of them and have nothing to unlock?
@@ehrtdaz7186 No clue tbh, never finished them all

Hey I know this guy from Twitter lol
3800X? Surprised it runs given Zen 2 is notoriously NOT a gaming CPU, and gzdoom is absolutely terrible for mod performance, which I know from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, please buy a 5800x3d. Also, SECRET PRO TIP: JUST BECAUSE A MENU OPTION ISN'T THERE, DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T EXIST. I personally enabled texture filtering from editing the demo config files, and I doubt the full version is any different. If the game isn't encrypted or using custom source code, this is going to massively inspire modders who can open the files and read the code, although I'm not sure how much is readable due to different ways the scripting is implemented, but the professionals may know ways to reverse engineer and decompile it. Bare minimum, I know it's easy to take out the textures, run them through AI upscaling, and load them in, because I did it with Hedon, although some elements were misaligned, but I'm not a professional and it was superior to the base game. Very annoying the creator had HD originals, didn't provide them to paying customers, and the game looked like trash with textures lower resolution than Wolfenstein. So this capability gives gzdoom a massive bonus to users over unreal based indie trash. Plus you can enable hq or xbrz filtering, and gzdoom has a legit 3d sound engine superior to typical Windows trash since Microsoft crippled 3d sound since Vista. Gzdoom is just the best engine for retro shooters, it has everything you need, and the physics are superior. You glide when you move, and don't catch on walls. This led to Quake 3 being the best movement fps of all time with special trick jumps. But then id stopped doing that, removed mod support, and local area networking. Which is the true reason why arena shooters died. They wanted to sell skins instead of letting you download them for free. Valve and epic did the same BS. Nobody sells games that empower the community anymore, but Selaco truly should be that game in 2024.
Yep it is...since doom chickened out until 2025.

You pronounced gibs wrong :(
Honestly I knew how to pronounce it but ever since Romero came out and said how it's properly pronounced I've had a brain fart in my head ever since and now I always pronounce it wrong for some reason lol
that might be the fps of the year for some, but for me, someone who starts blind and isnt a reviewer or beta tester, the backtracking is just terribly annoying and outdated, HL2 never had any backtracking, while having secret locations.
and the AI is too powerful, and also feel like in certain instances are teleporting behind me. yes these are probably engine issues, but there is no cool or strategic way to take on enemies, its more like taking cover and trying to pick them off one by one.
Not to mention, stealth, which is shown very early on, does not work at all in the game, not even in the stealth introduction scene, and there are no opportunities for stealth later in the game
It isn't perfect, but I didn't really feel like these detracted from the experience at all. I never felt like enemies were coming up behind me, and I suppose the backtracking could have a bit more added to it, like new enemy spawns or whatever, but I don't mind what it is either.
Stealth definitely isn't really a thing though, I'm not even sure why its introduced as a mechanic because there's practically zero opportunities you'll get to use it.
