Norwegian Sky was my first cruise ship to sail on. I was eight back then. It was a cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico to the small Caribbean islands in January 2004. Back then she was a fairly new ship. I had a great time with my family and exploring the ship. Back then I was very much into Titanic and seeing her interiors like the main lobby having a skylight reminded me of Titanic's dome in the movie.
Did my first ever cruise on Costa Victoria in 2018 from Mauritius and loved it. Sad to see her scrapped. Never knew about the sister ship Norwegian Sky. Interesting story.
Awesome. Yes I did know the story. Still wanting to sail in her and Sun. Was on Costa Victoria in 1996 as a visitor. It was one of the most beautiful ships ever. Harkened back to the Italian liners of yesteryear. Was very sad when the costs fleet went carnival. Costa always had lovely, stylish and cutting edge ships. Marina/Allegra. Classica/Romantica 💚🤍❤️
@@TravelWithKabirCD it was karma since they abandoned the original Seaward in 1971, after the failure of the Italian ship yard. She went on to be Spirit Of London for P&O and the the 1st Sun Princess. What goes around ……
Also, NCL had a similar situation when they ordered two ships in one shipyard in the 70's. They ordered the Southward and then the Seaward, the first ship was launched and delivered, but the second ship was cancelled by the shipyard due to a bankruptcy. NCL tried to buy the hull back, but P&O bought the hull and became the Spirit of London and later the Sun Princess.
Pride of Aloha was our 2nd ever cruise ship. We sailed on her again as Sky to The Bahamas - someone was lost overboard! I had no idea of the Costa connection...
I've been on the ship but had no idea! How interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I sailed on her as Pride of Aloha too!
That must have been exciting. That’s where she got her Hawaiian themed hull art from.
Hi Emma!
Such an interesting story
Great video!

This is one of those ships I hope to travel on someday.

An information packed video, a lot considered in just a few minutes.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Chris.
The last two ships built by the original NCL before Star destroyed the company!

NCL Always loves a good abandoned hull. But hey it leads to some cool ships!

So sad to hear someone was lost Gaynor. How traumatic for everyone aboard.
Love these type of videos! It was such a shame a 1996 ship (Costa victoria) was scrapped! The only NCL ship I’ve sailed on so far is the Jade
Nice
Thanks
Best ship is Norwegian Spirit!
I had no idea about this. I don’t think it’s mentioned in the ship at all.
NCL sky was originally called "Pride of Aloha" and would sail around the islands of Hawaii.
bah she was better off at NCL than costa!!!
