I love how Dark’s glitches seem more controlled and elegant than normal in this scene, in Date it was literally meant to be his calm shell cracking, but here it seems more like he’s doing them on purpose to emphasize a point, I don’t know if it’s intentional or not but it’s certainly interesting to think about 🤔
I think the cracks in his personality still are in the ladder, him having his composure while on the inside he is absolutely disgusted and angry at us but still chooses to hide his frustration. Though his glitching is also to emphasize a point, though not the cracks, but more of the "over and over and over again" scene. I believe the glitches emphasize something yet crack in the sense to hide is anger. Its quite interesting.
Dark also seems more corrupted and unstable than his other main roles as the antagonist or whenever he shows up in a video. Surprisingly, this was Dark's last role as the villain....as he's been reduced to edits for Mark's 3 Scary Games series. Perhaps Dark is obsolete....gone for good....or at the very least slowly getting trapped back inside Markiplier... Hope we see Dark again, I REALLY like him as a character.
Well I mean they did mention Darkiplier twice in Unus Annus and used his glitch effect twice as well. The channel is "ending" soon and is taking a dark and story-driven turn so we just need to see where it goes with it all. Maybe the channel won't truly end? Knowing MatPat's theory on Unus Annus, anything that shows up in the channel is therefore a canon character in their story and therefore a piece on the board that will have some effect on the channel in HOW it dies or IF it dies since we know there are forces trying to stop it from ending. Darkiplier now exists in Unus Annus canon simply because they said his name and used his signature glitch effect, so now he could do something.
That “what’s gonna happen next” thought is what goes through my mind LITERALLY EVERY TIME this guy’s on screen... (personality I only consider it to be a true darkiplier appearance when he’s in the suit and effects, I know there are some compilations that have non-suit moments in them...I personally think those are just mark being creepy)
I wish that when Darkiplier glitches, you see shadows of Damien and Celine. Like they're struggling to keep Dark together. I just think it would be cool.
@Prestin Hurshberry Yep, they are. It's mostly Celine (Red) corrupted by the Who-Killed-Markiplier Manor, with Damien (Blue) in there too. The red of the corrupted celine is what makes him evil and glitchy which is why the shadowy glitches tend to be red instead of blue.

The red glitching, the tormented distorted voice and teleporting with his emotions manifesting themselves into different copies of himself is insane. I like Antisepticeye to but Darkiplier genuinely scares me.
same! Anti is creepy, and as much as i love Anti.. He's less scary and more edgy/try hard... Its like, he's that kid who loves dark humor and threat everyone with edgy sh*t... While Dark, he's straight to the point and his anger is more... Mature, he's more mature and organized... Which made him a bit more terrifying

But with say goodbye, that was genuinely terrifying, him making jack kill himself on screen, shows the lengths of his gone his mind is. After his appearances started getting a bit try hard but then after 2017 he changed his style. Quit the game is a great example, he became more sinister and thoughtful when it came to schemes. Jjs show? Honestly just jack showing us is what his doing makes Anti more terrifying. That’s what I love about both these characters. They both have different aspects that makes them absolutely terrifying

I know Darkiplier started as a joke character (a lot of Mark’s characters were supposed to be one-off jokes), but I love the development and the story he’s been given (they? Dark is technically multiple entities). He’s almost Shakespearean in his tragedy: betrayal from a close friend, and slowly descending into rage and madness in his desire to regain control. Now, as you may know, Celine (red) and Damien (blue) merged with you and stole your body to become dark. Here is a question I want you to think about, why did dark take the form of Damien? It’s pretty simple actually, when all of you merged and grabbed up the stick in front of the mirror you can see a woman’s hand (Celines hand) for a split second, after that it switches to damiens, I think this shows that Damien is the dominant side and that Celine is trying to get out of his grip, hence why the glitches are red. It’s Celine trying to break free. The controlled glitches, where he still has his ‘normal’ color, are definitely Damien because they are clearly way more controlled.

Actually I think this is after the events of the first appearance of him well the story, and in Who Killed Markiplier, only two men left that mansion alive. The colonial. And Darkiplier, and the Detective. though after seeing, well you, Mark or Celine. He went mad, his mind shattered, thinking everything was a lie. But in the 16th ending you find Wilford aka The Mad Colonial. Seems HES still at it at doing interviews. But thinking that way.
But before this thing, but after Who Killed Markiplier, appearntly Mark faked his death, and killed Celine, and soon enough killed you. And that would explain why there was a whole thing about Damien, and how he was talking with Dark, and after that Dark killed him for a physical body.

Y'know, coming back and watching this again, it's fantastic to see how Dark as a character has progressed. I just watched the date with markiplier ending(s) as well, and d a m n you can see the difference. Dark is more...elegant, more suave, well spoken and put together in this one. You'd almost confuse him for a politician or some kind of influencer by the way he talks, the way he moves. And yet he almost seems... sad. Like he's been grieving for a while, and he knows how to hide it well. Grieving for what? for whom? I'm not sure. Maybe for us, the DA who'se body he stole in an act of desperation. Maybe it's for William, who has lost himself to his madness and adopted a new persona. Maybe for the individual spirits inside him, for who they used to be. We see a lot of afterimages in this compared to A Date, most of them in red. hell, most of them in pain. Dark is in pain, as a unit. We know that Celine fell asleep (DAMIEN) although we don't know when that took place. All of Dark's appearances before this have been chaotic, he's always been a mess at the best of times and terrifying at worst. There is a difference though: He's always had an equal amount of both red and blue, both of the twins driving, so to speak. But this time? It's only red in the afterimage. This is after Celine fell asleep. Damien is in charge and it SHOWS. The transitions between scenes, the table with the single wine glass, the desk, just the void, seem cleaner as well. Like he's learned to use these... otherworldly abilities he's been unwillingly granted. Another point for this theory is the fact that he's hidden clues throughout A Heist. He's never done that shit before. Overall, goddamn. I see the corrolation between the Box and the stone in Space, which would explain how we're able to switch universes so blatantly and so fluently in both In Space and A Date. Although, there is the question of how this is affecting Dark and Wilford, who are both constants in these universes? What form will we see Dark in next? Will it still be Damien taking the reigns, or will Celine wake up? Questions, questions. I guess we have to wait for the truth.

Brilliant and disturbing how Darkipliers emotions manifest into copies of himself all in one. The effects and Mark's acting is phenomenal, this demonic yet elegant gentleman that scares you just enough to creep you the hell out.

I don't know if anyone has already said this, but it's strange to me that the glitches are more red and rarely have blue. I'm basically saying the person we're talking to here is Celine (If that's how you spell her name). Meaning this takes place before "DAMIEN". Though I'm not sure now since at the end of In Space part 2, we can see the blue in dark. Or it's when before Celine kept making Damien go to sleep. I don't know if mark has said anything about this scene but for now that's just my theory.

We know that Celine fell asleep (DAMIEN) although we don't know when that took place. All of Dark's appearances before this have been chaotic, he's always been a mess at the best of times and terrifying at worst. There is a difference though: He's always had an equal amount of both red and blue, both of the twins driving, so to speak. But this time? It's only red in the afterimage. This is after Celine fell asleep.
Damien is in charge and it SHOWS.
The transitions between scenes, the table with the single wine glass, the desk, just the void, seem cleaner as well. Like he's learned to use these... otherworldly abilities he's been unwillingly granted. Another point for this theory is the fact that he's hidden clues throughout A Heist. He's never done that shit before.
Overall, goddamn. I see the corrolation between the Box and the stone in Space, which would explain how we're able to switch universes so blatantly and so fluently in both In Space and A Date. Although, there is the question of how this is affecting Dark and Wilford, who are both constants in these universes? What form will we see Dark in next? Will it still be Damien taking the reigns, or will Celine wake up?
Questions, questions.

Its quite interesting and a cool detail of the absence of damien and celine, it just further drives the point that darkiplier in the end IS both of them, with the house over them both.

Brilliant and disturbing how Darkipliers emotions manifest into copies of himself all in one. The effects and Mark's acting is phenomenal, this demonic yet elegant gentleman that scares you just enough to creep you the hell out.

I don't know if anyone has already said this, but it's strange to me that the glitches are more red and rarely have blue. I'm basically saying the person we're talking to here is Celine (If that's how you spell her name). Meaning this takes place before "DAMIEN". Though I'm not sure now since at the end of In Space part 2, we can see the blue in dark. Or it's when before Celine kept making Damien go to sleep. I don't know if mark has said anything about this scene but for now that's just my theory.
