I have watched several of your videos and today I just realized you play at the same place ! If I recall correctly I think I saw you recording once in the past.
I do prefer your approach, simple throwing motion first because for most tennis players, getting them there is a huge success. The rock from back to front is easier when the idea ‘throwing’ becomes more intuitive. Then, you can begin ‘timing’ the rock with the hip firing and the racket drop.
Another great installment , Tom. Man so much here - but that leapfrog analogy - using one leg to propel and the other as a fulcrum - this game changing for my understanding of how the weight is transferred - can’t wait to practice this Ps great point about baseball pitching technique and larger elbow angle- spot on. I wonder if this is due to the more horizontal launch angle of a baseball pitch vs a higher “hand action” of a serve.
Great lesson again Coach: please mention that to start from loading the front leg to rock back to load on the back leg; and mention that to complete right shoulder rotation after the contact
Great video. Just the point about weight transfer to the front foot being the time you can rotate forward was really useful for me. Really struggle with being conistent with the timing of my rotation to the leap and the moment when my arm starts to throw upwards. It never clicked I can only rotate my hips forward when the weight is over the front foot till you said it.
Really good tips and Nitzan's progression at the end of the video his impressive. As others have noted, I really appreciate that you point out one of the advantages of a platform stance which is to accentuate the kinetic chain by transferring energy from the back foot to the front foot. Though implicit, I don't think you can ever overstate the importance of remaining on balance throughout and I wish you'd have talked more about incorporating some core rotation and unwinding (corkscrew) as part of the service motion as well. But great tips overall .. Thx
Hi Tom, any advice on how to correct a bent arm at contact during serve? Trying all sorts of cues to get myself to a full arm extension but nothing seems to get consistent results. Thanks
Yes! I've fixed this in the past by having players rotate into the serve. You'll find you have freedom to stretch up and in front of your body. I fixed @Jay Blumenstein like this
Think of it this way: when you do leapfrog you initiate the jump with your legs and sort of slap the other person's back and pivot off off it on the way over to get some extra momentum. On the serve, your back leg should activate first and get you going forward then the front leg gets some weight and helps you gain some more forward momentum.
I love the leapfrog analogy!
Leapfrog analogy is very clever, thanks.
Superb coaching. Thanks
great video. thanks. the leapfrog analogy is fantastic, help me a lot. When I apply it, I feel that the action close to cartwheel also

Glad to hear. Thanks!

Thanks. Happy to help!
Thanks for emphasizing sequencing of rotation. Will test this today!
Wonderful instruction.

Thanks for a great video!
I really do like the leap frog analogy and I'm going to try it.

I spoke about legs and rotating shoulders into shot. That’s a little of the uncorking. Thanks for the comment
As always, great tip !
release the ball after weight transfer to the back foot !
am I right ?
Yes
Ah, that is Valley Church! Great!
Just wish Tom had attempted the leapfrog over the basket on wheels

@@TomAllsopp thank you Tom I will definitely give it a try!
When i am doing pinpoint stance serving do i load off the back foot??.. Pl🙏🙏
Yes. Both legs.
@@TomAllsopp.. Thanks much
Backswing phase from horizontal plan vs vertical plan.
not sure what that means
Lo pueden traducir está interesante
I couldn't understand the leapfrog analogy. The front foot is like the "arms" of a leapfrog?
Sorry, that’s the best I can do at explaining it.
Difficult to visualise the leapfrog action in the serve but otherwise a great video. Thanks.
Dont visualize the leapfrog action. Visualize the feeling of it and implement it to the serve.
