I was stationed in Bamberg from 1988-1990 and lived in Podeldorf outside Bamberg. I loved the town, especially during the Christmas season. My youngest son graduated from Bamberg American High School in 1988 and they held the graduation ceremony in a German hall near the Town Hall. Besides the beautiful city one of my biggest memories was in 1989 the border opened up and I went to the border and watched thousands of people leave the East for freedom in West Germany. I have a large chunk of the Berlin Wall in my home office. My wife and I are looking into a tour of Germany to visit friends we made in our three tours in Germany, Heidelberg 75-78, Karlsruhe 82-85, and Bamberg in 88-90. Most of the places I was stationed in Germany are no longer active military bases and only one is still active but are now in Italy.
i went to BAHS 88-90 7-9th grades. dad's unit (7/6th) was on the czech border the day the curtain fell. we too got a couple chucks of the wall and pieces of the fence. and a sign. I played in the band for the graduation ceremony in the golden guilded hall downtown. that was awesome. sometimes i have dreams where i've gone back there. one day i will. i had a couple friend a yr or 2 older then me .. i wonder if they knew each other?
I was stationed in Bamberg whilst in the US Army in the late 80's into the early 90's. Of all the places I have ever been, Bamberg always seemed special.
Why did the maker of the video add music loud enough to make it difficult for the viewer to concentrate on the text and the images? Music should be the background. The city is a marvel!
My Home town , I grew up in the old city , I have wonderful memories . I miss it a lot and periodic visit is never enough she is doing a great job , music is too loud . Stop the music !
And of course it is an insult to Bamberg to show the Domplatz with the Kulmbacher mobile beer bars. Bamberg is very proud of its (widely approved) beer and brewery culture - and none of that is mentioned in the video.
@@TravelAndDiscover My name is Brouwer (which is indeed english for brewer). But I'm not a professional brewer, just sometimes beer-mad, and Bamberg (town and Landkreis) is one of my epic destinations for that.
You have to go there , Bamberg had more than 30 breweries, with outskirts maybe more than 70 , most famous is smoked beer available at " Scklenkerla Pup ".
@@dorismccollester9522 I said that indeed because I've already been there 🤣🤣 Beautiful city and an absolute paradise, literally, for beer and beer hunters.
this is the best travel video I have ever seen ! with amazing music ! thank you
Thanks son much :)

Well you are lucky for having grown up here. I´ve just moved to Bamberg a few days ago and I´m falling in love with this city.
My last name is BAMBERGER. I would like to know if there is any relation...

Lived here from 96 to mid 98

Oh… sorry about that. Are you a Brewer or a Brouwer? Thanks for your comment!

terrible piano that is so loud that cant hear the reader.
Rudes off fort
get rid of the lousy invasive 'music'....
You ruined the last 20 seconds of the video with the pop ups.
