I came out way before internet hook-up sites but I can totally relate to Jesse's experience. This is really great advice and it would have been nice for me to hear back when I was 18 and sneaking into gay clubs on South Beach.
My problem is I kept falling for straight men, and some seem interested, especially at first, but then most can't deal with it and break off. Seems a pity really, but it had left me very insecure, until I met my partner, who knew he was gay, late in life, but accepted it and we've been together ever since. But I still dream sometimes of those straight men that either kissed me or seem to want to.

Totally agree about Grindr. I too had a similar situation where I talked to a guy for a little bit then met up which turned into making out. It was a pretty chill, gentle experience, but looking back I sometimes wish the whole situation could have been different and more of a relationship then a fling. Hopefully by going into the dating world (sometime soon) things will be better! Learn from our memories! :-)

Sometimes they stare at me and that's especially when they get my attention. It's funny, because... When I had a girlfriend, we held hands, we cuddled, we spent a lot of time together (even shared drinks) but we never kissed. Then with my first boyfriend, same thing. Never kissed. The only way to know 'what you're doing' is to make these regrettable mistakes. Fortunately, after a few more kisses you'll be able to look back and laugh. That's my experience anyway. Just make sure you keep on experiencing (safely; grindr is a big no-no in my opinion) and all shall be well.
One of the problems with being gay is it can be very difficult to find someone to go out with, its usually because people fell uncomfortable asking another guy if they're gay. It must be a lot hard for "straight acting" guys like you because im assuming noone would think that you're gay. This is why we need places on the internet like Grindr not for hookups for actually making friends and maybe a partner.

You should try Growlr. Although all the apps you have to be upfront with whomever you're talking to and tell them what you're about, expect and want.
