I love square body S-10. My late father bought one new in 1982. My favorite are 82 -85 S-10's. The 4.3 was not available until late 87 and it really woke the truck up!
I wish they wouldnt have quit making the s10. My first one was a 91. 2.5 4cyl manual 5 speed.i gave it hell lol.it was a tough as nails truck.i found a 98 that had some body damage about a month augo. Gave $500.00 for it.141,000 origonal miles.4 cyl.i bought it & was lucky enough to find matching paint colored body parts at the local salvage yards.i own a z71 but parked it & started driving the s10. I love it.brings back memories & saves alot of money on gas!
I had a 1982 Chevy S10 (the first year they came out) 2WD (no 4WD the first year) Sport model, FULLY loaded, bucket seats, 2.8L V6 (4.3L wasn’t out yet). A lot of things changed the following years with 4WD and the 4.3L added to the lineup. The trucks and Blazers were great vehicles. 👍
89 manual s10 had to put an aftermarket tachometer in mine only speedometer and fuel gauge and the rest are lights. Still a very reliable machine. I love mine!
I have a 91 and just got my license today it's a s10 blazer with the 6v 4x4 it had some trubble with starting after I replaced the spark plugs let me rephrase my last statement it didn't start after I replace the spark so this morning went to the shop on a dolly so wall I was at the DNV my truck was getting ready to be my daily so after I passed dad and mom took me out for lunch and than took me to the shop to get my truck she's and old girl so I really didn't expect anything to exciting when driving her home but I was so happy to be behind the wheel of something I worked so hard to get to that point when I lift the shop I took it to a car wash and got her cleaned up and I absolutely love it she has the digital gauge cluster and that's what sold the truck for me to be honest and plus it was 425$ so perfect high school car but on my way home I was doing 40 in a 55 I really wanted to baby it plus I don't think I could do much better but to be honest my foot was halfway on the throttle so when I finally put my foot down she went nothing to crazy but she got up and went pulled her own weight I was in love with my truck even before I could not drive it and now that I can I absolutely love my little truck I wish everyone could experience a little old s10 truck they are gifts to this world as long as you think that it will love you back
Iron duke 4 banger!! With a 5speed, you can spin the rear tire just a little in 1st gear, chirp the tire in 2nd when you speed shift. When I was 16, they just started making the 2nd gen s10s. The first gens were all over the place. You could drive 3 miles down the road and pass a dozen of them. Junk yards were full of them. The tahoe package trucks were hard to find in junk yards. Love those trucks!!!!!
My first car was a '91 red S10 long bed rear wheel drive. Made passing my license test fun when it came to parallel parking. Also live in New England and would get suck constantly in snow.
I put a set of 275/30/20's in the front and 275/45/20's in the rear. Made all the difference in the world. I have a 1992 rebuilt 2.5L 5 speed though that came with 3.73 rear gears. So it will wind through the lower gears a little longer. My 4th gear is almost my 5th and 5th is almost like a 6th gearing. I get 26mph mixed driving. I think I would flip her over before she would slide out of a curve with the 20's... The sidewalls of the 70 series tires is what makes these little trucks so wobbly and bouncy.
Not a Chevy fan but I would not mind finding one o these oldies in good shape to tool around in. My buddy had that exact truck with red instead of blue and he put a 305 in it, that little V8 made that thing fly! lol
I have a 87 s10 4x4 sport, it's having some issues but at the same time it's a fun truck. It's pretty nice to drive something nobody else really has these days lol.
I can confirm, the manual s-10 does not have a tachometer. It's kind of freaky to drive, because you have to listen to the engine to know when to shift. I would recommend getting an aftermarket tachometer.
I have an "85" S-15 , 5 speed , 2.5 L. with a tachometer and it was stock . ( It could have been added when bought new from the factory ) . My tachometer died a few years ago 😢 .
Those old square body S10s are indestructible and look badass! Btw man are u from maryland? Those backoads look a heck of a lot like where I grew up around the middletown valley

Anyways i wanted to answer your question about the gauge cluster mine does not have a tachometer which i find kind dumb a manual should have a tach... It does happen to have a dumbie shift light in the cluster above the check engine light...
I have both right now. A Beautiful 90 long bed S 10 with 2.8 v6, 5 spd manual. (a truck needs a clutch to really be a truck!). She is a speed demon, and a fantastic ride, v6 or not! I also have a 93 blazer S 10, 4x4 with a 4.3 and a 5 spd. I just finished a 500 mile off road camping/site seeing trip. I was comfortable and happy with the 25 year old beast! Both are a joy to drive and I never get tired of hearing how good they both look! (the 2.8 did lag a little, until I made a mod or two.)
Yeah I have 2 but I'm gonna make one out of them tho 1992 chevy s10 2wd short bed 2.8 5speed needs a clutch too lol bad and 337 miles and then I have a 1985 gmc Sierra S15 long bed 2wd grey 31000 miles and and did have a 2.5 4cyl automatic but took the engine out and trans and gonna drop the 2.8 in it from the 92 and maybe 5speed to and drive it and gonna be alot work tho to do it cause the 92 needs alot of work it's wore out and it doesn't have a title either so that's why doingbthat engine swap 🛠
@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 ; Good luck, they are fun to work on, at least I think so. You can apply for a lost title at the DMV for $15. if it's been un registered for (x) amount of time, (here it's 12 months). I know of some guys that have installed 5.3 v8s in their 89/91 S 10s', painted, rims and interiors. They blast down I-5 at night, and make me want one ever time I see them! But an S 10 with 500+ hp is a little bit much for me! ;) Chevy owner 4 ever!
@@patpaulson1108 yeah I love them I like the 4.3 but I hear a lot of issues with them head gaskets or engines blown up or locking up or something like that or some other issues but for some reason everybody hates the 2.8 but I love it and I've never had a problem out of them as long as you take care of them . But even if the title or truck wasn't ever in my name? And too if u want I have the trucks on my channel if u wanna see them check them out . I'll be making a updated vid of the 92 really soon cause looks alot better now than it did in that video only paid $300 for the 92 and 85 i paid $400 But the 85 had a headgasket issue so that's why I pulled the engine and trans out and wanted to drop a v8 or v6 in it so I chose a V6 because of money and how much I would have to do if I put a V8 in it and everything so I found the 92 for 3 and got it but it's wore put needs like shocks , brakes , a clutch , rear window is broken out , needs keys I have no keys for the switch or doors to lock it and it needs front bumper but the mounts or smashed in because guess was wrecked before and few other things and the engine needs few things but can be fixed but the body tho and everything on the 92 is just to wore out to me idk . Oh and the door hinges are wore out as well bad and driver window is messed up but the 85 has everything that the 92 would need and way better in shape the dash is in perfect condition in the bench seat is to . Go check my channel out and see what u think . But like I said I don't have any video of the 92 coming out really soon 🛠
there was trucks are awesome that was my first pick up I ever owned my first vehicle I ever owned that was a beast she climbed up took her for Weiland took her through the woods she was a baby sheep old cars right out of the woods with no tires on them in the cars are in a ditch told them right out of the ditch I had a 91 4.3 V6 4 wheel drive automatic with manual 4 wheel drive manual windows manual locks truck color was Brew she literally could go anywhere that truck was not limited and she picked up speed pretty quick I put a push bar on the front end of the pickup it was an excellent truck
I have a 93' 1st Gen. Replace the 14" steel rims with 15" Gen 2 aluminum rims. Replaced shocks with good quality aftermarket gas shocks. Less up sprung weight. Makes a huge difference in the ride. You don't have to depend on your seat absorbing the shock. Your truck (minus paint) looks to be in really good shape. Change the oil regularly and they will last a long time.
I have a 1991 s10, same engine but 5 speed tranny! New rebuilt engine and rocks in high rpms in 3rd gear. Why would it be? Also has no radio, no wipers, red blazer door on driver side. I love the damn thing, it hauls my dual sports just fine, which is sweet and love showing it off in school. Will try to make best of it. Thinking of wielding a brush guard on it
5 speed trans, and as far as door go, I had a yellow one on my blue 90 s10 pick up for a yr, it never let the rain in, or slowed it down. S 10's are the best, imo!
I have my own 91 s10. I do have a problem with it. The speakers seem to cut out whenever I sit or lay back on the seat. I have containers holding the seat a little bit forward to prevent it cutting out but I'm not sure why the speakers cut out when they are not there
Hey Bandit, I was wondering if you would be able to do a video on the hill start assist feature. In my driveway, my 2016 tacoma rolls down while the truck is in drive and forward if in reverse if my truck if facing towards the decline. The slip indicator flashes ,the truck holds briefly, then continues to roll. There are no videos on here showing how it works or doesn't work. Making a video who be very helpful to a lot of us I'm sure. Thank you.
Girl here needs quick advice. My friends dad worked for and retired from GM and in 1991 he bought a S10, 4.6, Automatic , 2 wheel drive with jump seats. It has about 140 K orig miles on it. Has newer tires and extended cab. It would not be my primary car as i have a Subie and a 04 Saturn SUV. I have considered buying a older truck for some time but really have not shopped for one yet, nor do I know much about trucks. Going to test drive the S10 tomorrow and take it by my mechanics but would like any opinions if anyone reads this in the next few days . The body is straight and seems in pretty good shape and he wants 1000.00. Original owner. Is this a good deal with the info I provided above. Someone told me I do not want a 2 wh drive esp living in the Appalachian mountains. Advice appreciated. Thanks. Oh, been kept in a carport and not driven much in past yr but has been started up weekly to keep in running.
Thanks for watching. This sounds like a really great deal if it's in as good of shape as what you're thinking. Sure it's 2wd, but many older trucks are. It hasn't been until recently that many trucks became 4x4. That being said, if you keep good tires on the truck and some weight in the bed, you should be able to get a lot of great use out of the truck. Ultimately see what your mechanic says. One thing to keep in mind though, these trucks are getting older and some parts can be more of a challenge to find than a few years ago. Let us know how it goes!
I am 14 years old and looking for a first truck. We had a 1988 Chevy S10 that I got from my grandpa but we sold it for $700. It kinda sucks now because I wish we still had it. It seemed to have a lot of problems with the transmission though.
Well the good part about is that General Motors made tons of these trucks and nice clean survivors are still out there! I think an S10 or even a Blazer would be a great first vehicle, if you can find a clean one with no rust!
My 95 S10 has them too, and they would really only work if you're sitting still. Mine came with the plastic cupholders that attach to the bench seat, though. I got the truck from my brother in law.
Well when I got it, it had about 150k, but the tachometer was broke. Your guess is as good as mine! I will say the AC doesn't work at all, but the rest of the truck is holding up nicely!
I had a 95 with the 4.3 with a five speed manual. Had it for 12 years and put 140,000 miles on it. Nothing major maintenance wise, alternator and I think a water pump. 4.3 is a solid engine never burned oil and ran well. Have fun with it.
I turned 16 in 1991 so this brought back memories. Would've loved to drive it in high school.
My friends in high school were not as impressed with my truck! Haha
Damn I turned....7, my wife was born in 91. My s10s a 91

Despite its base 4-cylinder engine, it's a pretty well-optioned truck with the Tahoe package, a/c, sliding rear window, and map lights. Nice!

My first truck was a 91 S-10 too 4cyl 5 speed. No tach but they did include a shift light to tell you when to shift.
Great, thanks for letting us know!
That shift light is not a replacement for a tach. It is a fuel saving gimmick, similar to the green leaf on newer cars.

I got a 97 for sail
@@calltyrone1483 what stat are you in. I'm looking for an s10
'State
I have a manual s10 and it doesn't have a tachometer
I’m 13 and just bought a 91 s10
My fav model is the 89 S10
That's a nice truck!
it does have cupholders on the back of the glove box door but they suck
Haha I was wondering if anyone would mention those. Since they are only about a half-inch deep I don't even consider them cup holders!
My 95 S10 has them too, and they would really only work if you're sitting still. Mine came with the plastic cupholders that attach to the bench seat, though. I got the truck from my brother in law.
Thank you man.
Yes sir, thanks for watching!
How many miles are on this today? I am looking at a beater with 177k.
Well when I got it, it had about 150k, but the tachometer was broke. Your guess is as good as mine! I will say the AC doesn't work at all, but the rest of the truck is holding up nicely!
98 for sail
The 4x4 was pure garbage. Used vacuum to lock hubs always failed. The 4.3 v6 is awesome but the 2.5 liter “iron duke” 4 cylinder was great
Really Want one of these!
It was a great truck!
Taco Bandit im just a teenager aswell , 15 year old , but my parents want me to wait till 18
Well that will give you plenty of time to track down and save up for the perfect truck!

What year is it?
I’m 16 and I actually have a stick and no it did not come with a tak I actually had to buy one. 12/23/2020
No the manual s10 do not have tacometors cause my 92 don't
Great, thanks!
I just got a 95 s10 mine has the v6 tho
I had a 95 with the 4.3 with a five speed manual. Had it for 12 years and put 140,000 miles on it. Nothing major maintenance wise, alternator and I think a water pump. 4.3 is a solid engine never burned oil and ran well. Have fun with it.
👍
No no. I drive a 92 regular cab s10 2.8v6 5 speed with no tachometer. Factory.
