- Minecraft's first ever random seed TAS
This is the first ever Minecraft any% TAS on a random seed, I got a time of 7:23 and I am quite happy with this run. I didn't do a lot of attempts, probably about five hours in total. I would love to see this be beaten because there is a lot of room for improvement.
So the idea is that you just do a normal RSG any% run, but you can use the tickrate changer and RNG manipulation. Loadstates and savestates aren't allowed because I think that takes away the point from it being a random seed. I also decided to not use any commands because I think that would make it complicated.
If you want to try this, just add LoTAS to a normal 1.16.1 instance of Minecraft with fabric (you don't need FabricAPI), and it is compatible with all of the performance mods that are used in speedruns.

▶ What is a TAS?
TAS stands for Tool-Assisted Speedrun, which means I use tools to try and make the perfect speedrun. This isn't a "real" speedrun, it's a different category of speedruns that attempts to display the limits of a game/category.
The most common tools used are slowdown, RNG manipulation and savestating/cutting the video.
Slowdown: LoTAS is a mod for Fabric which basically allows you to play the game in slow motion. I speed up the footage so it plays at normal speed. This is useful for more efficiency and precision during the run. Download for LoTAS: www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...
RNG Manipulation: Datapacks and mods are used to control luck in the game like flint, blaze rods, and piglin bartering. www.mediafire.com/file/gojfw6...
Savestates: LoTAS has a feature which allows you to save your world whenever you want. When I make a mistake, I go back to the most recent savestate. This means I play the run in about 15 to 25 sections and edit those together. When you see a cut in the video, that is where I savestated.

Would that mean that the winning tas would be at least slightly biased to the selected seed?
It's so cool how this both looks completely inhuman, but also has so many human- like qualities like missing a pearls throw and exploring by looking around.

I love this. It essentially takes away the super precise skills that speedrunners use and makes the speedrun only about your game knowledge and ability to plan ahead
It looks much more like an actual speedrun just with insane luck and inhuman mechanics

@@smoceany9478 No, the point of a tool assist is to get a perfect run. This means an perfect seed. The runners set the seed, but different seeds have different advantages, which is why runs use different seeds. this run was a truly random seed.

yes much better, this tas took whatever seed it got, it could still be done more cleanly on this seed but this was cool still.

This was really fun to watch. How the TAS helps with movement and mechanics, but you still have to traverse unfamiliar terrain every time, hence will inevitably get some bad placing/throws and RNG. Gives it a much more human quality but also looks like insane skill.
Dang, this is actually a really fun concept, and I would love to see more of this. Technically, the term could be something meaning it can beat any Minecraft world with the same input file(or potentially with an AI), regardless of seed, but seeing as Minecraft probably isn't a solved game unless things like commands are used, and even if it it were, the solution would probably not be possible to find or achieve by humanity, I think this works here. Really interesting, and this concept provides so much more opportunities and room for creativity.
I think that that's possible to do, if a large undertaking. (Regarding making a program that can beat Minecraft reasonably fast)
I think the easy part would be planning the general path for the program up take (either stimulate world gen, or obtain data in game as it does things).
The hard part would be trying to code a general way of traversing terrain that would be fast. You'd probably have to do something similar to how compilers were slowly built up with optimizations being discovered and implemented as the years passed.
@@pennyjim5671with a list of all random seed-obtainable seeds, you could just tas seed 1, then tas from wherever that would put you in seed 2 to the end of seed 2, and so on. It would be extremely unoptimized but it’s definitely theoretically possible to make a fixed-input tas that works for all (random seed generated, because some seeds can’t generate randomly) world seeds so long as all world seeds are completable.

YES finally TAS that you can actually learn from! Personally I think it would be really interesting if you TAS'd a top time seed just like this one without scouting it before, so we can just compare human and a program playing same random seed to see any mistakes or bad decisions! That would be amazing to watch and learn, and you can call it smth like RSG TAS or human TAS?? Idk. But you get the point. That's the kind of TAS I've been waiting for.

I’m starting to think this tas guy is cheating.
I would imagine a set seed TAS would be 100% automated in movement, acounting all rng possibilities, but this shows that even a random seed can be concurred in a really fast result, I guess I'm here to witness the birth of a new speedrun era, and even that is so cool to think about.
Hey, Cool Idea *surprised Princess Peach face*. I know this wasn't meant to be "perfect" but it would have been nice if you did a re-tas on a couple sections, particularly I thought the falling into the lava in the nether threw the flow off. Either way awesome stuff, very nice to put the calculator on screen for the end portal find. I like the BGM and this was a good watch other than a few moments of non-tasness. I like this idea though. Maybe there can be a competition that lasts, idk a month or something, where a seed is chosen at random and people like you can compete to see who can tas the best route out of that seed.
Also you could make random Minecraft tases like all achievements or every block or ... anything really, its just those kind of "everything of something" topics fly well on RUclips. Gonna follow you to see what you do next! :)

that creates an interesting theoretical question: could you design a sequence of moves that, given any seed, it would eventually beat the game? I think it would be possible but I'm not sure if such a sequence would fit within the observable universe.

Im hear to talk about not only the run but mainly the music behind this. This song has brought back many things into mind like minecraft animation and being a little kid placing my first block and having the first time to go into the nether with my broken stick drift controller and all the minecraft skyblock animations me and my sister used to watch. This comment will prob not be seen by many but the people who do see this will remeber all the great times they had playing minecraft

I know this was released before nofears run but its crazy that nofears run was only like 2 seconds slower than TAS

I had the idea of that concept a long time ago and I thought this defeated the point of a TAS, as a TAS is supposed to be perfection and errors can still be made in the decision making here.
But it turns out to work great. Hope this becomes more mainstream
