So bummed. I drove by recently and saw the building and finally googled it and found this video. I remember when they opened. The owner and all employees were very cool and they always had great merchandise. I was able to get a lot of really good stuff before the quarantine began.
This morning I made a run over to the food bank to drop off about 40 boxes of Triscuits I bought here sometime back, intending to use them for the "hungry bags" I was putting together for the homeless before the pandemic. After the delivery, I said, hey, why don't I just run over and see what new stuff they got in in the past couple of months. I turned the corner and my mouth dropped open. Unbelievable. Clearly, I hadn't heard the news. We're still working off the dozen 2 lb. bags of Starbucks French Roast I stockpiled a few months ago and god only knows how many other things I have purchased there over the past few years. Very sad. Got to know the staff on a simple hello 'n nod basis. They were very nice, and I generally stopped by at least twice a week. So sorry to see that it's gone, and so dramatically at that. Wonder what caused the fire? Hmmmmm.....
I was just as shocked as it was a good store and with nice things, if you looked thoroughly enough. I went there today, only to find that it had burned down. Things like this make my mind wander... The employees used to tell me that the owners were behind on paying them, up to two paychecks. Makes me think the owner wanted out so this was done to get the insurance money as the lock downs were going to decimate the business anyway. I'm speculating but still... Well, out to find some new stores.
This used to be a Gap store back in the early days of the company. Sad. I'm assuming this was arson for insurance fraud purposes (I'm speculating). The owner was behind on the bills.
I did notice that for a while before this fire, they had packed extra boxes full of merch in almost all the asles,to where you couldn't push a cart..I thought it was due to the lockdown, and extra profits. There was also extra cardboard boxes packed behind it and drug addicts were sleeping behind the dumpsters with cardboard .I also heard some junkies were using the FRONT slcove to camp after hours. These are not regular homeless but are homeless due to drug addictions.
They always had boxes and boxes of new merchandise. That wasn't unusual. Never did see any junkies around the area but I hadn't gone since December of 2019. Sad that it ended this way.
@@ignazs.5816 the junkies were behind the store and the other junky couple were in a tent right across the street..they were always fighting and screaming.the couple across the street would move to the doorway of dollar deluxe after it closed. Curiously enough he couple across the street, the female set her tent on fire. Hmmmm
If the intent is to reach the seat of the fire for the purpose of interior extinguishment, we are going to have to vent the building one way or the other. Providing vertically ventilation prior to horizontal ventilation can often help prevent a backdraft...particularly if the building has been buttoned up tight. Do you disagree?
Nope. Hidden gem. The store was making more $$$$ since pandemic. Place was packed with essentials: gloves, sanitizer, bleach, non perishable food. You name it, they most likely carried it. Sad.
Agree. The store was starting to look like a junk yard at a point with tons of expired food items. I could see the owner just throwing in the towel and saying, "Fuck it." Lights a match.

Like that deck gun on the engine on the A side. You had one nasty fire you did a good job but I was getting worried about the men on the roof.
This is why we don’t vent the roof until we are ready to make entry, if at all.
