  • This is a great nymph, it is productive year round and does especially well in quick water. The legs add just enough flash that it also does well in slightly murky water, but it still fishes great in crystal clear water as well.
The materials you will need for this fly are:
    Scud hook
    Brass or Tungsten Bead
    Pheasant Tail
    Small Copper Wire
    Mottled Clear Thin Skin
    Black Crystal Flash
    Tan Rabbit Dubbing
Brown Thread (Danville 70 Flymaster Plus)

Love this pattern, I added a little thick UV resin to the wing case to secure it and lock my whip finish in place.

Since making this I have started doing that as well. I also throw a little flash under the wing case sometimes too. Subtle flash, looks great.

This is a great fly it does work well in fast water. I used it last weekend and caught over a dozen fish one of which was the second largest brown trout I've ever caught. I tie it with peacock like a standard pheasant tail and use black Crystal flash for the legs. Thanks

Skyler, love your videos. Say what size hook do you use for these?
