But now, several countries, with the most prominent being China, are starting to challenge the dollar’s default status. Forcing the world with the dollar as reserve currency and passing or threatening countries with sanctions if they don't toe the US's line, the dollar has been used for their hegemonic purposes to the full extent. Saddam, Gaddafi and China talked about ditching the dollar for trade and look what happened to the former two and what US is trying to do to China now.
FUN FACT: US govt. or any of its institute does not own Dollar. Dollar is owned by the US Federal Reserve which is made of private banking companies. They loan it to US govt.
That is why the U.S. dictatorship is under the control of the super rich. Thankfully Communist China is going to be the world's most powerful country in human history and the parasitic USA will have to actually produce goods to get ahead.
@Matt Karacic That's the only involvement US govt has. But, still the dollar valued and loaned by that federal reserve which is private in its nature. So, appointing the chairman doesn't make it govt institute. Also, US govt pay interest on the loaned money to that FR.

Exactly, the Chinese yuan is extremely unstable due to the govt's constant intervention. No one trusts the Chinese yuan's value outside of China. Add what's come to light with Chinese housing and business construction just being a place to toss some cash to hide the fact that their economy wasn't growing at the 8.5% they claimed. Global businesses are starting to leave China in droves due to restrictions on access to their market and govt ownership of the competition they would face. Regardless what business means to anyone outside China, it means something else in China.

The dollar's dominance should be replaced by a basket of currencies. Whether RMB can replace the USD is a different issue. No single currency should dominate the way the US$ is, so there is no temptation to print money like the way the US is doing. The lazy Americans are enjoying a bloody good life at the expense of the rest of the world with their dollar dominance.
