  • Disneyland proposal goes horribly wrong in The Haunted Mansion.
    On July 6, 2012, three friends went missing. They were last seen at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
    A Cast Member working in Lost & Found discovered a camera that belonged to them containing the following footage.
    It has not been altered in any way.

    I'm a mansion maid! Although the cast member in me is quietly yelling at you for what looks like video lighting, this was a great short! And side note, the story about the little boy happens to be true but his name is actually Timmy. His ashes were spread so far that it wasn't accessible to clean up all the way. He tends to hang out backstage and our unload area.

    The cast member's comment at 4:25 really added to the realism!!!

      Underweight Sumo This wasn't even a cast member, it was an actor too. There was no single cast member involved in this project and the complete video was filmed during normal operation of the ride. You can see this in the making off.

    Very well done.
    The acting is superb, very convincing in the way the characters are casual, then smile when they see the camera. The manner by which they speak is amazingly convincing as well. FAR better done than "Escape From Tomorrow". The effects and dialogue, though some are not very convincing, fit very well with the atmosphere and almost blend in completely. Amazing job!

    for real though, people spread their loved ones' ashes in the graveyard part of the ride so often, that they ACTUALLY have to send an employee through it every night before they close up the park to clean them up in case there are any.
    i am not shitting you.

    • @lolhaha108
      @lolhaha108 9 лет назад +8

      You are partly right and wrong on the last part yes people go through every night to clean but just to clean. But in the case of the dead remains that people scatter workers thoroughly have to check every week if the scattering of people's remains happens and if it does it is closed for a fairly long time lets say about 3 or 4 weeks because it is a biohazard. :)

    • @AishaVonFossen
      @AishaVonFossen 9 лет назад +3

      ***** Hmm, yeah, the biohazard thing I can understand, but it is a kind of two edged sword, isn't it? If you're someone who wants to spread a loved one's ashes on a ride at Disneyland, it may be hazardous as you said, but it's also sad that it's viewed as a hazard, if you go to that trouble to perform such a meaningful and personal act, just to have the precious remains quarantined like that, and then discouraged after you do it. It's really quite heartbreaking, actually. :(

    what i really love about this short film are the little things. like i love right after he pops the question that group that walked by the castle starts clapping!! not to mention the backstory bits you insert so subtly and cleverly-- the bit jess says about 'i need your mom to like me' and the clip of kevin applying for the internship that got cut off. little stuff like that makes it so much more 'real' and amazing. not to mention the actors are all so fantastic and the dialogue feels so natural and flows so easily!! this is really a masterful way to craft found footage, which as a genre can come off super artificial if it's not done right. there's just so much i love about this short. i keep coming back to it when i'm in the mood for some disney goodness!!

    I remember coming across this video when I was about nine years old (which would have been roughly a year after this was uploaded). Being as naive as I was and too scared to watch all the way to the end, I thought this was genuine found footage of something supernatural happening in the attraction. THM is my favorite ride, but this video really made me not want to ride it for awhile, lol. Now that I'm older and know that it's just a really well-acted short, I can now say that this is honestly really impressive! A lot of work went into this, I can tell. Well done. :D
    EDIT:
    Apparently I made a comment here awhile back that basically said the same thing. Lol. Younger me beat me to it. :"p

    Wow! You some how made a much better film than ''Escape From Tomorrow'', and this was just over 11 minutes! In other words, this is such a good short film!

  • @bdt7468
    @bdt7468 9 лет назад +53

    I'd give them a B+ for acting and an A- for effects, this reminds me so much of a short version of Paranormal activity, the whole happy beginning, the moderately shallow disbelief of something wrong, the finale scare where people disappear and ending with the "found footage" that could never be explained cliché.

    • @AishaVonFossen
      @AishaVonFossen 9 лет назад +6

      Yeah, I agree, though if there was to be a found footage style movie to be made in any of the films at Disneyland, it would be here. :D

    • @Facelessman1969
      @Facelessman1969 8 лет назад +3

      The only thing they did wrong with Paranormal Activity was that they had the actors on Late Night Shows while the movie was still in theatres. They should have kept the actors off those shows until the movie went on DVD/Blu-ray.
      That way people would think that there's a possibility that the footage was real. Obviously there is no such thing as ghosts, but it is still cool to try to scare the gullible people that believe in that crap. ;-)

    • @julieee.s
      @julieee.s 7 лет назад +3

      I don't know why it's "crap" to believe in something like ghosts. And I also don't know how can you say with like you were 100% right about it "non-existence" while neither the science itself can prove already if it does or doesn't exists. It's so disrespectful to bash other people's beliefs and religions! I do agree the producers of the movie made this mistake you talked about and that almost all of these kind of movies are fake af, but it doesn't mean you can call something "crap" just because YOU don't believe on it. I don't believe in Santa Claus and I don't go to all the children who believe it and say it's "a crap thing". Neither do I go to someone from India and make fun of them/say their beliefs are "crap" just because I PERSONALLY do not believe in their gods.
      You can criticize Hollywood's bullshits and fakeness without making fun of other people's beliefs.

    Very well done. Making it look like an ordinary Camcorder flitting, zooming, panning etc, but all the while a neat simple little storyline and the appearance that something odd is happening that wouldn't normally happen in any visit to Disneyland. The special effects really came into there own here with a lot of hard work and thought gone into your production. I'm pretty jealous that you can find such a like minded team of people to work so well together. Well done

This video made my love for this ride stronger as well as my desire to shoot my own short film. (I have not done this yet, though. None of my friends want to invest their time into one.) My favorite part was the Hatbox Ghost. I already knew who he was when I first watched this and squealed with joy when he appeared. I hope that someday I'll be able to achieve something as jaw-dropping as this.

    Having Scott in that portrait with Constance Hatchaway was genius. Imagine if they made her the villain in this video. Like Constance wants a new husband to murder and so she decides to take Scott since he proposed to Jess that day.

    The most stunt the scene is where they just left the camera alone on the ride until the rides ends

      Her name is Lisa Livesay. She's a singer and actress. I think I've heard her sing before. It says she's performed in Wicked but she hasn't been in much else - yet. :)

    I think the best part has to be the ending, as it book ends the story by having the camcorder be found. If the rest of this was a little better, I think this would definitely be the best scary vlog yet :)

    Honestly, I was just looking for videos of the Hatbox Ghost in a The House of Mouse episode and I stumbled across (originally "The Making of" video then) this. I'm glad I did, for a guerilla filming done at Disneyland, this is EXTREMELY well done.

    Not bad...not bad at all..thats was a nice integration into the theme of the ride. One thing that always bothered me about this ride was there was no movie to support the theme.

    I gotta tell ya...this video has really freaked out this 65-year old grandmother just a little bit! I have done the Haunted Mansion ride dozens of times, both in WDW and Disneyland through my years and can't say I ever felt "scared" during the ride. However, that has all changed now! I recently returned to WDW last month, and when I revisited the Haunted Mansion, it was with a much more cautious eye! Yes I know the video was a short film production, but it still stuck with me during the ride!
