  • The UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra is the latest hardware release in the Ultra line. Coming in at $129 it may be the perfect point of entry into the UniFi ecosystem. 1Gb IDS/IPS, up to 3 WAN connections, management of 30 UniFi devices and 300 clients makes the price to feature ratio pretty great.

Thanks, Willie. I've got an alert running against both the UK and EU stores for availability on the this device - it's perfect for my church client as a replacement for a cloud-based controller that's got two AP's and a switch.

I've got one. I think this is the best option for home users who don't need UniFi Protect and integrated Wi-Fi. You can set up the device without creating a UI account, which is great. Additionally, WireGuard performance is excellent! I have most security options enabled and the device is running with the following specifications:
    Temperature: 44 degrees Celsius
    Memory: 1.44GB/3.00GB
    Storage: 813MB/9.90GB

  • @g__rtz
    @g__rtz 4 месяца назад

Picked one up, tried it out, but quickly decided it was not a replacement for my EdgeRouter 4.
    - no DHCP reservations preprovisioned. The device first has to come online, before you can assign a specific IP to it.)
    - no DNAT (for forcing DNS to my pihole for all devices that use hardcoded DNS)
These are just two relatively simple things missing for me in UnifiOS compared to EdgeOS.
    Bummer.
Also a huge bummer is the fact that even though it supports 2.5GBe WAN, it only supports 1GBe at the LAN side, shared among all ports. So not even 2x 1GBe, no just 1GBe for all LAN ports together.
I love the rest, the form factor and footprint, the integrated controller, but without the abovementioned I simply cannot use it.

Completely missed there was feet in the box!! Now I wish it had bigger feet but we'll manage somehow... so far the feet are my only disappointment with the device.. so tiny. Little itzy bitzy rubber feet. Was completely satisfied with the UCG Ultra until this video... oh well.

This device make much more sense than the UniFi express or Gateway Lite. But why not charge +$20-$60 and add an access point? This should be a device that replaces/upgrades the Dream Router.
Ubiquiti, rename the "UniFi Express" to the "Dream Router Lite (Gen 2)", and rename the "Gatway Ultra" to "Dream Router (Gen 2)" and add an access point. Or make a new line of "SOHO Routers" and separate them from the "Gateway" line of products.

I like this because it has no AP. Only thing that sucks for me is the 1Gb switching across the 4 ports. It really should support two computers pulling 1Gb each on a 2Gb internet connection and from what they are saying it doesn’t!

I have 4 sites in my extended family with USG-3Ps today. I really don't want an access point at the locations where the router is located. This having no access point is perfect for me.

@@HueMongus101 That makes zero sense in this context. The Unifi range now has so many choices that people should just buy the device that fits their environment the best. Yes, and I know how to disable an access point. Most people here do.

@@SeanChYT Neither does purchasing this device to replace the USG-3P. The USG-3P can be centrally managed, but the Gateway Ultra is a stand-alone unit for 1 site. So it would NOT meet your needs anyway, with or without the AP. The Gateway Lite is more suited to replace the USG-3P

Interesting, I've got an Express from the UK store that I've not done anything with yet, original plan was for a family member. The Cloud Gateway Ultra though as a replacement to pfsense/opnsense/Sophos XG Home. Mmm now there is a thought. Ah I forgot I have a CK Gen2 +, which protect and talk are running on. Thus UXG-Lite maybe
