☘️ Paaaddy... 😁😂🤪 I need to get myself those puppies, to review. My wallet is not going to be happy with you, this month! 🤣 The RS Clinch River Sway is nice, never had a button lock knife, before. However, the Stag on that Savage gunstock is simply stunning! 🤩 Thanks for sharing, Sir Paddy of Peelers 🫂 ATB Gus 👍🏼
Looks like a great knife. I have noticed in a few other videos about RoseCraft knives that the quality control is not what it once was. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
I picked up the Clinch River (swayback) when I saw the materials and the price point and I hadn't seen a locking blade from them like that. I'm assuming that their slip joint manufacturer made those rather than Artisan/CJRB that handles their modern locking blades, but I can't say for sure. Damned impressed with it either way. Thoughts: My badge was done slightly better, where it only pokes up from the Micarta on one of the 4 corners instead of two. It might take away from the classic looks, but having a thumb disc on the spine could add another deployment method without changing much to the knife. I also tried some light spine tapping (around what it takes to fail Vosteed's Trek-locks) and it's rock solid. The button is designed well, where I can't accidentally fail it by gripping the knife over it, but it's not difficult to disengage at all. Lastly, I wish they didn't opt for permanent thread locker on the pivot, but it's not a deal breaker. The M390 seems to be done well which is always a concern for me on less expensive models. Maybe nothing exemplary, but it fought me when I reprofiled it to 15 degrees and it's holding its edge quite well after the ton of use I've put it through lately. The Savage Creek (Gunstock) is a pretty good model. I got the original in polished Micarta so I didn't feel the need to double dip with the Stag, but if they put out some new models with it I'll be all over it. They put out a model in Sandalwood recently as well (Loosahatchie I think?) Mine has some amazing figuring in the wood. They're killing it with the slip joints, and it's nice to see more experimentation rather than strictly sticking to traditional patterns.
I think I would point the shield out to Andy. It’s not a big deal but they would probably appreciate the feedback so they can keep an eye on that with other knives. I have the Smokey bone sway back and to be honest a sway back is not my favorite but the knife is gorgeous just the same! I would try a traditional button lock in the future if it had a very discreet flipper tab on the back.
I have this “Savage Creek” gunstock stag knife, and it’s everything you say - and more. I wasn’t a big fan of the gunstock pattern, but this stag is so very *nice*…
I'll take the stag. Simply stunning.
