  • PRESSURE LIMITING COMPENSATOR / LOAD SENSING PUMP CONTROL FOR REXROTH AXIAL PISTON HYDRAULIC PUMP
    I 'll do another vid soon showing why pump standby pressure is often higher than the L/S spring value (300 in this scenario)
    This video is for educational purposes only. Consult machinery service literature for specs and procedures to safely make any adjustments or repairs on any machine. Values and operational info here is only typical. Designs, applications and specifications vary from machine to machine.

    Very well done , thanks for making these very informative videos for all us trying to get a good understanding of our machines hyd systems. Between you and lunch box sessions I've got a pretty good understanding of the closed center load sensing. I've got a excavator that uses a open center negative control system and would be very interested in seeing a demonstration on how that type of pump control functions. Thanks a lot for these great videos!

    So L.S. pressure doesn't stroke your pump but prevents it from destroking by blocking the oil to the destroke piston until the pressure setting of the pump cut off is achieved?

    Hallo,
    I've a cat 322b excavator (engine 3116). The engine struggles as soon as hydraulic system is activated.
    I used to activate the hydraulic system while the engine was on idel, and it used to run.
    Now, if hydraulic system is activated on idel, it stalls immediately.
    It sounds like there's a high pressure of hydraulic as soon as the activation lever is engaged.
    If just continue to work on high idel, engine stalls after about 30 min of operation. Give it about 15 min rest, it works again and stalls afterwards.
    I changed all the hydraulic system filters.
    I really appreciate if you can help.

    Hi. I have a pump like this. The label says DFR but there is no load sense line. Its set up as a DR sense system. Im not sure im under standing the function of the DR system. Bare with me..lol Im working on a telehandler. It has a open center spool valve with hydraulic pilot controls. System pressure is suppose to be around 3100psi. SO to set the DFR pump up in DR mode, According to rexroth, you screw the load sense control all the way which blocks the sense ports to the pump. Now you set your system pressure buy screwing in or out the pump pressure setting. (3100psi constant pressure) SO my question is ..am i understanding this correctly . With a open center system with no load sense line (DR), the pump is always putting out 3100psi If thats the setting pressure, and when you activate a function the main system pressure drops which is sensed through the pressure limiting compensator port going to the de stroke piston. So when system pressure drops on command the swash plate de stroke piston spring pushes the swash plate to stroke direction to maintain system pressure of 3100 psi.
    Am i getting it?

    • @hydraulics
      @hydraulics  6 лет назад +1

      I'll make a bunch of assumptions here as i don't know your machine's system detail, but yeah, if the valve is open center, then your pump would be putting out full flow in an attempt to get to 3100 psi. But being open center, all the flow will be going to tank with controls in neutral or hold and pressure will just be line, cooler and filter back pressure- you might see a few hundred psi at high engine speed - or less if no filter. . When you actuate a control, the pressure will then be load induced (weight on telehandler boom for e.g.). When you bottom a cylinder, then the pump will max out at 3100 and destroke. Your machine may also have a main relief though.

    Good explanation. Stroking and destroking. Couple of comments: 1. Pump discharge port not mostly go to close center valve since most load sensing valving system use "float center" type or any valving system having "closed P" port but with outputs A/B goes to load sensing port thru shuttle valves. 2. Technically the load sensing line can't have a "zero" pressure since height of the column of oil or trapped oil pressure could still exert force against P pilot lines. I'm pointing some emphasis on 2 because you might create a "void" in the load sensing line if the piping system is not proper and could create some erratic functioning of the system especially at starting. There might be applications where the valving system is higher than the reservoir which might not ensure to complete filled pilot or drain lines. Good job btw.

    • @hydraulics
      @hydraulics  8 лет назад

      +PC Gamer_Bowler yep and sometimes the DCV doesn't actually send the signal at all... in some systems the pump regulator actually sends oil OUT the X port, and the DCV signal network controls and "matches" it to the workport pressure. (Many steering systems on heavy equipment do it that way to minimize oil loss from the DCV). Other systems use signal duplicating valves (some Large Cat excavators) . There are lots of variations out there for sure. Thanks for watching!!!.

    Awesome explanation of controllers but swash angle explanation is totally opposite to the convention. Swash angle arrow away from the pressure outlet line is considered as pump in full displacement and the same arrow, in line (Vertical) with suction and pressure line on the schematic is destroked.

    • @hydraulics
      @hydraulics  3 года назад

      That's the schematic in the Eaton textbook. Seems backwards to me, but there's no official convention on which way the arrow moves for upstroking or destroking so I just went with what they provided.

      In most configurations, yes. My exposure is on the mobile side, so I just follow the service manual, but if the DCV is closed center it's output is blocked. Some machines do open some sort of unloading type spool though to allow some flow.
