The UK is a Christian country and due to this we are more tolerant hence people choose to move here. How many want to move to Iran where hardcore sharia is in full sway? The UK is a Christian country and due to this we are more tolerant hence people choose to move here. How many want to move to Iran where hardcore sharia is in full sway? What better illustration could there be of the lure of the forgiveness concept? No one is being encouraged to sin - Jesus said hate the sin, love the sinner. People are encouraged to become Christian/take on Christian ethics, stop sinning and love their neighbour as themselves. The message is a good one as evidenced by the numbers who want to live here.

@ShitGotReal Regardless of whether a person is Christian or not the ethos of Western civilisation is Christian ie we all live under this influence. Granted it's lessened a lot over time and is despised by many but it's still there. I have no problem with anyone being atheist/agnostic but there appear to be an awful lot of people profoundly depressed in society these days, as evidenced by the sheer numbers on anti-depressants and the high suicide rate, so removing the influence of religion doesn't appear to be working that well (in my opinion). Where is the viable alternative? Of course atheists will be in total denial about all this but facts are facts - look it all up. There is also the fact that in a vacuum other stuff will come into play eg crime, nationalism and hedonism - illegal drugs/porn/anything goes sex-wise - is this seriously making people happy?? Society works better if everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet. Also you don't have to be going to church or directly affiliated to any church to be a Christian - it's a state of mind affecting your actions towards others more than singing in church every Sunday. Some of the worst hypocrites out there are regular church goers - that can be more a social than a moral thing if they don't act on the message of the sermons.
