The spookiest thing in Snowrunner, is Snowrunner itself. There are no NPC's walking or driving around, sure you might find the occasional parked car, or a dog barking, but its just... eerie. The closest thing we have to this are the sightings of hunters, wolves, fishermen, yeti (bigfoot/sasquotch), cats, tigers, polar bears and what-not. But even that doesn't really give any life to the game. If anything it just makes it even more eerie, cus when you get too close they disappear. And even in photo-mode they disappear, keeping you from getting a good look by getting closer. There's nothing scarier than that. Also, if you go to the church on the same island you get the Zikz 605R, you can hear the faint sound of singing coming from inside.
The fact you can hear these ambient sounds, like dogs barking, music in gas stations and in the town in Black river but you don't see anyone it gives a serious feel of a liminal space, something you would not expect from a game like this
This game could easily be made into a horror game with a few odd noises and random encounters, stuff at the corner of the screen, something running across the road, maybe you wouldn’t see or hear anything for a few nights until finally it happens
Definitely! I think what makes the game so creepy is the lack of humans, especially because the areas are clearly inhabited but we just can't find any sign of life
The sunken city also has “nuclear” ghosts, if you turn your lights off at night you can see firefly looking things flying around but what makes it weird is theres two flying together like eyes
My guess is the numbers are the number of Gulag prisoners from back in the day. They were worked and starved to death in Syberia in one of the harshest climates on Earth. So they just buried them in the forest. Mass graves in forests were actually common in that part of the world. Even some found as recent as the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo
Those aren’t footprints at the start, it’s the absolute humongous balls - that your truck driver has to be trekking across frozen russia on their own without a fuel trailer - resting on the ground
@@thegamingrat1 I remember that this ghost scared me a lot. I delivered a cargo to this house and entered photo mode to take a look... and I saw this ghost. It is not super scary, yup, but this is the last thing you can expect to see in truck game

I completely agree. Thank you for commenting!
Is it a bit like Super Mario 64 creepiness?
@@FezFindie Never played that game, so I wouldn't know.
@@evergreengaming2.053 You can find more than one video covering on the matter. "Super Mario 64 is a disturbing game" and such.

Great points! Thank you for commenting!
those footprints can also represent a fully grown up polar bear or a abnormally big polar bear, not necessarily a yeti, fun theory tho.
Maybe! Thank you for commenting!
No way that's a Polar Bear. The tracks aren't shaped right, they're too big, and they're too far apart.

I always tought #2 referred to the "landmines" in roads 💯
I'm convinced that snowrunner was originally suppose to be more horror oriented
there's also the glowing eyes in michigan
That scientist is creepy by the fact that he's the only other (possibly) human around at all. Okay, there's the fishermen but ya know.
I agree! I believe that he's the only human that you can clearly see in the game, apart from your driver... 😦
Oh, man it is not a scientist, it is a Russian parking staff😂
In the Russian map Drowned Lands if you visit the ruined warehouse at night there are tons of glowing eyes from animals watching you.
its everywhere in Michigan and Wisconsin as well
I think you got russia and michigan mixed up my bro
Many maps have eyes in the bushes at night, it's just the one location where there are a bunch.
@@Novice_HunterNever really saw it in Michigan
@@440NateT It's there, I think around the road with the watchtower to the sawmill
Fun fact: This graveyard is located near a camp that was a gulag back in its days, and our beloved graves belong to prisoners
Interesting!
How am I supposed to be scared that saber Interactive referenced one of their devs, or of a sign that’s a reference to an accident that killed no one?
You forgot about ghost in Maine
Yep... As awesome as it is, always creeps me out when I drive past the house 🤪
