Some more info on this guy, Kamal Hassan, is somewhat like a real GOD of acting in Indian cinema. (I know everyone says this about everyone here. But trust me, he is) He broke through all taboo topics in his older films and brought many technical advances to Indian cinema and experimented with everything. The only Actor /Director/Dancer and Choreographer/Editor/Screenplay Writer/Author/Playback Singer/ventriloquist/Cameraman/Prosthetic makeup artist to have acted in many Indian languages and won many national awards for his performance. At the age of 3 it's National award. The highest award for a performer in the country. Even awards from other countries for what he has contributed. He has been in acting for 60+ years!! So, he knows something about acting...and dedicated his life to only one thing, films!
He is almost 68 now, still kicking!
Most of his films were not successful when it was released back then because nobody could get artistic films or performances. Before 2000's international market mostly ignored Indian films except for very few. But he had accomplished more even 4 decades before that. He did not mind and kept making films and making commercially successful films here and there. But now his older films are being taken up for studies in film schools.
I mean he played a midget, 33 years ago(1989) when there was no technology. He made a Silent movie 35 years ago(1985) during the color, sound period era...Who makes that?! Quentin Tarantino and Ang Lee praised him for his experiments. He worked on the sets of Rambo as an assistant makeup artist and in the original film star trek with Michael Westmore just to learn prosthetic makeup, so he can bring that to India. Kill bill's animation sequence was inspired by one of his flims said Tarantino in an interview.
He invited Queen Elizabeth II for one of his movie(unfinished) trailer launches and she came to the set for a few reasons but one of the main reasons was that film was about a freedom fighter during the 17th century during British rule. India's biggest film at that time 1999-2000. He could only make about 20-30% of the movie with that budget during that time and it has been shelved for a long time now. Many of his movies had flaws..but not flaws of acting but flaws due to the very low pathetic budget that he could come up with. Because no one would vouch for him. He is still trying to make films and will always do it till the end!

So, if you get a chance to see Vikram(if you are intrigued) the movie, it somewhat interties with another movie called "Kaithi". So it would be better if you start with that first.
I would recommend Heyram(semi-fictional takes place around Gandhi assassination film),
Nayagan(God father-like film loosely based on a real person),
Anbesivam (an altruistic flim)
Dasavatharam- 10 Roles( an ok film. Can watch it for his performance)
Pushpaka Vimana- Silent flim
Aalavandhan- My favorite, a Psychotic film.
Apoorva Sagodharargal- The midget film.(An ok one for the story. but amazing performance 33 years ago when there was no technology)
Mahanadhi- The crying one( a great movie. but a sad one)
Gunaa- Another one of my fav films.(You reacted to a song inside caves. He plays a mentally disturbed character)
Moondram Pirai-2 great actors in this film ( An amazing movie..some Indian cliches..but a great one)

Kamal Haasan Sir was/is and will always be:-
1) Pioneer of Indian Cinema
2) Versatility Personified
3) The most creative mind & multifaceted personality in our country & world..
4) an Enigma
5) The Complete Actor
6) Pride of our Nation..
7) Cinematic Genius
8) Legend in truest sense..
9) Visionary of Indian Cinema
I don't think even Hollywood actors have those traits of Kamal Hassan. no offence because Kamal Hassan can do well in acting, directing, dancing in 3 different styles, cinematography, story writing, screen play writing, dialogue writing. not to leave that he is one greatest man to bring many new technologies in cinema at his own cost and introduced Indian cinema towards a technological world.
Can't forget Quinton he is awesome.
Difficult Discribe him in one frame..
Or word .. he is India's top Method Actor Super Star still buzzy working..he has no boundaries crossed Hollywood studios..too.

Even in those 61 years he's unstoppable acting continuously. That's why he has acted in more than 260 films. The only break he had was from 2018-2022 because he became a politician. But what Vikram did is it took him back again to the top position.

This man he spend his money he own from cinema to cinema so that they younger generation will have easy path in technical and acting method..he nearly went broke to build indian cinema to next level... He is a good writer as well as and actor and director

I admire his acting skills very much that I can guarantee you that you can never get a good actor like him in Indian cinema past, present and future. I don't like his ideology because he shown a movie which tells Muslims are terrorist and I don't agree upon it because I am a Muslim who stands against terrorism and Quran never supported terrorism. he is an atheist so that he will degrade religion that what I don't like from him but I can say that he is a very well in acting.
He didn't say Muslims are terrorists. In fact he spoke against generalising Muslims as terrorists. What you said about Quran is exactly what he depicted.
