To be honest, this video brings me back to the days when I was 14 or 15 years old. Back when I didn't have much fancy equipments except a multimeter, my desk or working space was just like this, not a big area stuffed by electronic scraps I collected from nowhere. The best fun was poking randomly with my old analog multimeter and discovering the circuit part by part. Although sometimes magic smoke would escape and the next thing I know was the circuit went wrong. Very sweet memories, Thanks for sharing it, for real.
Correct, that's why I move the "P" control to the end when preforming the shorts test, then move it back to the setting later. Unless I forget to do it during this video, this was years ago and was my first tube tester as I wasn't as experienced as I am now. I now have a Hickok 533 tester and still have this one and a few more.
What happens if there is a short, but the roll says that "there may be a short on 1, 2 or 7 (for example). Does that mean we can still check for emissions if either or any of those short?
Thanks for the reply! I understand your reply. However, if the tube chart says may show short, and it does not short is this ok to test as well? Further, what is the highest number of shorts that you could proceed with on the "may show short" list? If there are 3 is that too many? Brand new to this and these tube testers look like they can pump a lot of electricity. I just don't want to blow anything up or have a tube explode! Much thanks!
+Dylan D Fire Alarm Wow, Great demonstration on this old, awesome device;DD Ok people need to see this video ( especially for people who are dealing with vacuum tubes, or using them for experiments with power supplies and tesla coils ).... What information you gave here was absolutely perfect, no flaws what so ever, explained perfect, and in this case I don't mind footage quality, people have to just pay attention to video, rather than the quality of it.... But It was the best demonstration on the vacuum tube testing device, not very many people do this in such detail, but thank you for showing this as it was educational, purposeful, and simply cool;DD Thanks For Showing, Cheers Mate;DDDDDDD
***** Nice;DD I also love to collect high voltage insulators, but I will check out more of your vids soon, probably tomorrow, because tomorrow is Friday, YES!!!! We all love Fridays!!!! But thanks for talking, and I'll speak with ya soon, Cheers Mate;DDDDDDD
I like to find my high voltage insulators along very old railroad tracks underneath the telegraph poles, and a lot of the time, you will find them on the ground!!;DD
I get really excited when I find them on the ground, untouched and free like that;DD I search every corner and crevasse of almost every place we go to, to find insulators, mainly where almost no one has ever visited, and were its very quiet, but that's how I like it, I heart insulator hunting!!;DD
I've got my insulators displayed on a big shelving unit that holds the majority of my small insulators also my TV, and the bigger ones and others displayed on my other shelving units;DD Alright then.... I'm heading to bed, cheers mate;DD
Phoney - Western Electric thanks! I received this item from Craigslist locally. and yes I do need a little help fixing this. there is a weird looking reddish type component that is corroded that I don't know what it is ? some type of resistor ? right under the main unit cover. thanks again !!
Thanks man, this is an old video, was my first tester, and I've since gotten more experienced and have a Hickok tester. I still have this one and an emissions tester like this is just fine for radio repair.

Great video and explanation. Love the enthusiasm, I can tell you really enjoy electronics.
according to instructions I have, The "P" setting is only set for CONDITION of tube. It is not to be used when checking for a short

New subscriber here. Nice tester, I recently bought a B&K Dyna Jet 606. Testers come in handy.
Very well done ! Thank you for the upload. I liked subscribed and added to to my playlists.
All my best.
Bobby
+Dylan D Fire Alarm I will be looking forward to seeing them.
All my best.

Just picked up a never used TW-11 for 95$ with manual. Quite cool these things are
You did not check the second triode of the 6SN7. This is a double triode in one glass envelop.
I bought one but my line meter doesn’t work. Stuck in one position and the line adjust doesn’t do anything. Sucks.

Wow thanks! That's very helpful. It's a Precision 12.
If I send you a small group of tubes can u check them for me?
Thanks for the video, may be buying one of these.
Thanks for sharing
You throw those tubes around like milky way bars

***** Thanks mate;DD By the way your voice changed over little time! Same here, very enthusiastic about electronics/electrics;DD

When testing the shorts, you forgot to move the load switch to 10.
I just purchased this exact model off of ebay lol.
thanks for the upload,
I just bought one of these
tube testers for $50
needs some work tho...

Phoney - Western Electric I sent you a picture on Google+
thanks so much for your time !!
GET A TRIPOD PLEASE !
I have one. This is an old video.
Nah, that's rubbish. That's not good for you.
I'll buy it from you for a dollar plus shipping.
