I'd argue the funniest attempted (but missed) was Bears in 2005 vs the 49ers with 40+mph winds. Robbie Gould almost blew over before the kick, then the ball missed like a balloon losing air. It's freaking hilarious.
The first of many Andy Reid clock management snafus. "The fans are letting them know about it." No matter how much anyone hates Philly fans, you have to agree that chorus of boos was well earned by Big Red.
I've seen a few games like that when I'm watching TV and see the score go by on the bottom of the screen, and I just wonder, "wait a minute, the score is WHAT? How did that happen?" lol. Like some game is 8-2 or something wacky
Garo Yepremian Miami Dolphins first Super Bowl against the Washington Redskins. Extremely screwed up field goal for Washington Redskins only touchdown. Miami Dolphins went undefeated for the season and won the game 14-7
Doug Pederson ended up being the HC for the Eagles...AND leading them to a Super Bowl win over the Patriots lol. Of course 3 years after winning the Super Bowl the Eagles fired him.
Yet unlike Reid's immediately successor in Philly (Chip Kelly), Pederson is from the Andy Reid coaching tree, with most of the Eagles that survived Kelly's butchering of the team Reid built prior to leaving, being able to quickly adapt to Pederson's version of Reid's West Coast Offense.
Hold up...they didn’t just have one kicker that didn’t make out on the field but they also had David Akers as well. That just makes it even worse!!! Being an Eagles fan during that time was just laughably bad. Also quite a few future Super Bowl winning coaches on that sideline between Reid, Harbaugh and Pederson.
He coached the same way it would be 3rd and 12 and would run a 5 yard out route on the sideline Whatever it seemed they should do he would do the opposite i cant believe he won a SB
ruclips.net/video/Zz64DTDOkdU/видео.html Closest analogue to the Norm Johnson situation I remember--however, it was 3rd down and Bengals K Doug Pelfrey alertly runs up to the center, calls for the ball, and spikes it. (By spiking the ball into the ground on his 1 career pass attempt, Pelfrey attained a passer rating of 39.6, which is better than many of the QB performances detailed on this RUclips channel.)
A funnier kick was the one by Green Bay's Chester Marcol in 1980 against the Bears. His kicked was blocked back to him and he ran it in for a touchdown.
I nominate Michael Husted at the end of a 34-10 loss (w FG) to the Falcons in 1994 at the Georgia Dome. When Sam Wyche was asked about it in the postgame, he said we'll need the points for potential tiebreakers. Atlanta was 7-9, Tampa Bay was 6-10. Worse yet, the Bucs had the worst point differential in the NFC (-100, yes the 4-12 Rams (-79) and the 3-13 Redskins (-92) were better. Come to think of it they would have finished at -103 without it so maybe he was right sort of)
Andy was a great coach but his time in Philadelphia had a lot of little mistakes like this that drove us crazy. Still respect the hell out of Big Red tho
Here's something you didn't expect: I went to school with Norm Johnson. At UCLA. I was there from 1977-1981. And as you said, Johnson was in the NFL starting in 1982. I would watch him kick field goals on the UCLA practice field, and they would land on the top of Pauley Pavillion. A schoolmate told me, "Johnson's got the best leg in the country."
I remember as a kid growing up in the Philadelphia area, after this there were a ton of radio commercials where the punchline was “we’re waiting for Norm Johnson”!!
I would put a little of it on Peterson since had his first read not been open he should have thrown it out of the end zone, it shouldn't have been intentional grounding, and would have stopped the clock.
As an Eagles fan, I remember us all being really angry about the play on 3rd down. I remember Kevin Turner saying that he should have just batted the ball down, and I remember this game for being first time Donovan McNabb played in the regular season, but i completely forgot about that field goal. But also, Doug Pederson got us a superbowl 18 years later, as a coach. He redeemed himself

To be fair.....WHY didn't the Special Teams Coordinator (John Harbaugh) make bloody sure his unit was lined up on the sideline ready to run on? Chances are high the kick would have been good had the kick not been rushed. Reid took the heat but, that was on the ST Coordinator....who gets paid a lot of money to coach that unit. The FIRST person that coach should have made certain was standing next to him was his Kicker. The HC has a LOT of things going on in his mind, and the last person he should have needed to worry about getting onto the field quickly, to kick a game winning FG....is the Kicker lol. Harbaugh choked that day, and I bet he and Reid had a lengthy discussion about that miscue, and his future with the Eagles if something else stupid took place lol.
The 3rd down play in that situation should always be a go route or a corner route thrown to a spot at the back of the end zone. A timing play where the QB takes three (or five) steps and automatically throws right then to a particular location. Don't give him an option to do anything else. That being said, the kicker was in la la land...
Or was it not telling his kids to not make drug deals in a Target parking lot…nah it’s telling McNabb to huddle during a two minute drill in the super bowl.
Trying to run a precision offense with a ño precise QB in McNabb. Making Juan Castillo defensive coordinator. Never winning a single game after Desean Jackson's punt return......losing to Joe Webb and then blowing a bye and blowing it to GB......and the year before being humiliated by the Cowboys to end the season and a week later in the playoffs and having Keith Brooking tell the media they knew exactly what plays were going to be called because they made themselves one dimensional......or think he could mold Kevín Kolb.......or refusing to run the ball in the playoffs and letting Andrew Luck lead the Colts back.....there are also so many more examples of the his teams succeeding in spite of him against bad teams and then continuing to blow it. I could keep going for another 30 mins but my fingers are getting sore.......
Crazy part is, its could've been either a false start or illegal motion on Norm... today it wouldve been with the way these zebras been doin so much laundry
Ok like he said, this was Andy Reid 2 game as a head coach. The Eagles in 1998 was the worst team in NFL, and the got the 2nd pick in the Draft that year b/c the Cleveland Brown's re-entered league and McNabb was chosen. The Eagles was in translation, and Doug Pederson was only Brought in to get McNabb ready. Doug Pederson was a very bad QB. He was a back up, or a back up to The back up most of his career. So Andy needed time to bring a winner to Philly. (Side note: I am not knocking Doug Pederson a a coach, in fact Dougy won his first SB before Andy, and in fact the team he played on in this video) Also, Johnson the kicker, I put a blame on. In fact Johnson never made it though the season, bc David Akers beat him out. So Andy was bringing a winner to Philly. 2000 season on the 1 play of the game, the kick off, in big D the David Ackers onside kick and Eagles with Dice Staley big game, beat Dallas in Dallas and Andy and the Eagles were playoffs team. In fact they beat the same them you played. This video, Tampa Bay.
@@XideEagles Nope he got fired. He was coach when I made the comment. I actually liked Pederson but something was going on behind the scenes since Day 1 of his hiring. Turns out that Eagles never gave him the power that we associate w/most NFL head coaches & that type of arrangement is becoming more popular. It might be why Pederson called plays like a drunken fan until he was fired with another year of pay left on his contract. 😀
Maybe the kicker was considered the man in motion? But even if that's so, he should've been flagged for moving toward the line of scrimmage. Either way you're right, should've been a penalty.
I am here because of that stupid playcall the Chiefs called at the end of the 1st half of the AFC Championship game that cost the Chiefs of the game. I don't care Tyreek Hill, throw the ball in the endzone
John Harbaugh? Really? Apparently he didn't learn his lesson. Didnt Billy Cundiff run out to the field late in the AFC Championship game when the Ravens lost to the Patriots? His field goal would have tied the game and sent it to overtime. Instead the Patriots went in the play the Giants in Super Bowl 46
There are sooooo many awful decisions by Andy Reid. The only reason he started doing well was because the rest of the division....including the coaching was piss awful. No body did less with more......than this guy. Year after year trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. How about putting a career offensive line coach....and a great one at that......as a defensive coordinator. The only reason he won a damned super bowl is because they turned the league into arena football. A coach is not great when his own "tree" does better and wins Super Bowls before you do. In fact .....you don't get a damned tree until you DO win a SB. Consistently trying to run a precision offense with McNabb.......not a precision QB!
Three Super Bowl winning coaches and not one of them told the kicker to get ready
I'd argue the funniest attempted (but missed) was Bears in 2005 vs the 49ers with 40+mph winds. Robbie Gould almost blew over before the kick, then the ball missed like a balloon losing air. It's freaking hilarious.

yeah but ya cant blame this one on wind
"And the kick is on the way and it's... WHOP!"
“Where’s the kicker?” That’s gotta be the only time that’s been said on a football broadcast!
Andy Reid, making poor clock management decisions??? WELL I NEVER!
John Harbaugh was the ST Coach and ran away from Andy Reid when going to the locker room lmfao.
Makes sense. He didn't want to get chewed out.
The first of many Andy Reid clock management snafus.
"The fans are letting them know about it." No matter how much anyone hates Philly fans, you have to agree that chorus of boos was well earned by Big Red.
The crayon analogy was perfect. Yes I watched this game live and obviously remember it well.
I'm glad this happened in a way, as it lead to a final score of 19-5, which had never happened.

Can you just make a playlist of andy reid time management decisions?
That video would be 4 hours long
Just the clock management alone....
Reid was a tremendous coach for 56 minutes of every game. In the last two minutes of each half, he was useless.
What? Do you want him to die?

I remember that. It was like 19-5 and he tried to sprint the field goal to lose 19-8. If Reid didn't have Patrick Mahomes he would still suck.
It was before halftime not the end of the game. Estas ciego or guat toidi.
