More than a century ago the mentally ill were taken out of prisons and sent to psychiatric hospitals. Due to the closure of those psychiatric hospitals many of the mentally ill have been returned to the prison system while the training for psychiatric nurses has been decreased from years to weeks.
Psychiatric hospitals still exist across the country, yes they're smaller but doesn't mean that it doesn't still exist. People need to do their research before they comment.
By "people" are you talking to me? If you are what is left behind bears no resemblance to what was or what is required to service the growing demand for mental health services. As a consequence of the shutdowns many people are sent to prisons or receive no treatment whatsoever and the situation is getting worse year by year. Then there are the mentally ill who have become homeless. If you have anything, and I mean anything, constructive to add, preferably within the near future, lets hear it, if not you are merely speaking words for words sake and go away.@@jamesbennett5587
