What we do with the salted egg is that we don't peel it, we just slice it in half (shell and all) then we scoop it out with a spoon.
ahhh will keep that in mind for next time!!
Idk but the sandy texture of the salted egg is the reason why I love it. Anywhoooo, I appreciate you guys trying out new things.
We've heard suggestions about mixing it into the rice and what not and that'll reduce the sandy texture. We're open to seeing if that'll change our impression of this dish! Thanks for watching Jay!
Hello James and Mark, i usually would diced the tomatoes, onions and the salted eggs then mix them together before eating with white rice. It will be less salty and grainy!
We're quickly realized we didn't prep it correctly, we might have to give it another try now!
for the salted egg, you can just cut it in half and then scoop with a spoon the egg from the cut shell and mix with sliced/diced tomatoes.
Yummy, thanks for the tip!!
you can also use the Bagoong with Grilled or Boiled/Steam Eggplant and Okra. Also, as ingredients for cooking coconut milk based food like, Bicol Express (Pork), Sauteed assorted vegetables in coconut milk, or Chicken.
Love eggplant!! Will add to our things to try
the Bagoong you should have used is the one that has tiny shrimps and it's usually pink in color. That tastes better with the mango. It is usually used with Kare Kare (Ox Tail dish with Peanut Butter mixed in it).
Ahh we've seen that!
You guys are so funny! Suggestions.. Slice the egg in half then scoop the eggs.
Dice the eggs and mix it with the diced tomatoes and onions.
You may also add ripe mangoes or green mango. 😊
Thank you for the tips!!
That’s the perfect salted egg .. we usually eat it mixing tomatoes, red onions and salted eggs sliced in cubes. it’s usually a side dish with fried fish or any fried food on breakfast :)
Thanks, we might have to do a redo!
in our family, cubed salted eggs mixed with tomatoes, red onions and calamansi or vinegar. it offsets the saltiness of the egg. agree that it's a side dish. almost like an appetizer.
I love this! It’s so interesting to see different foods. Thanks for sharing James & Mark!❤
We had a great time exploring!! Despite not everything matching our palettes
Yuo should try mixing the salted eggs with chopped tomatoes & onions. That’s the perfect combo.
We definitely will try that next time around!
Yes you should try the pancit canton with fried eggs and spam :) I usually eat it with eggs and vienna sausage :)
Exactly what we were craving!!
Most Filipinos use tomato sauce then just add UFC banana catsup and sugar (aside from the meats and cheese), salt and pepper rather than using ready made SPAGHETTI SAUCE. Either you just want to satisfy a craving or you're on a budget that's why you're gonna use ready made spag sauce.
Oooh that makes sense, thanks for sharing!
Fun video!! Loving the sounds your mics!
Aww thank you!
Lol, you got the right ingredients, just wrong preparation lol! The bagoong with mango, just use a small fraction of what you used hahah! And the salted egg, you basically chop it up along with chopped tomatoes and red onion and mix it all together… then it’s meant as a compliment to a meat and rice dish (my fave is with fried fish). You can add cilantro too. But I loved the video! If you guys are ever in San Diego, I’ll cook for you! 😂
We're at your front door... what's for dinner?? Hahah... Well curious, what would you make us??
@@ItsJamesandMark definitely wanna redeem the salted egg side dish for y’all lol. And honestly probably just order the rest 🤣🤣💀
@@MikeeRogers We love good take out haha
You slurped your noodles so well and that made me hungry... I actually twirl it like pasta lol. I love that you liked Bago-ong. You guys are so cute! You can use the Bago-ong with a salad of chopped tomatoes, unripe mango, and onions and a dollop of bago-ong. We eat that salad with seafood, sometimes we add seaweed as well.
Thank you Lia! I think it helped that I grew up on the Vietnamese version of bago-ong that made me assimilate with this taste already. I can see how it could be strong for someone that hasn't ever eaten it before lol. Thanks for watching!
@@ItsJamesandMark So interesting! As I am learning about the cuisines in Southeast Asia I cannot get over how different but similar the dishes are to ours. For instance, Adobo is not just found in the Philippines, there are Chinese dishes that are similar but different in it's braising liquid by only one or two spices.
This video is so fun! You’re making me crave Filipino food now 🙋🏽♀️😆
We got that place bookmarked, let's film something there with an expert guide!
Mark and the cucumber 🥒! 😅🤣😂
He needed a moment with it 🥒 🥒 🥒
OMG I just saw you guys on 25 words or less!!!!!! I got so excited !! I was literally yelling at my bf that I watch y’all mukbang LOL
Woohoo! I hope you saw the more exciting episode we were on! Thanks for tuning in and also for watching our videos here!!
I was surprised that you guys eat the spaghetti sauce directly. Cause we cook the sauce with garlic, onion, beef, etc.
We wanted to give it the bells and whistles but wanted to do a comparison based on just the sauce.
You can also make bagoong rice with a bits of pork and ripe mangoes in it.. So yummy..
That sounds like it would be delicious!!
The color of the mangoes, paired with how fast you can eat it tells me that it's bit ripened. Mangoes dipped in bagoong tastes better if the mangoes are absolutely unripe, like the flesh is green-white in color. But I guess your palate are not used to yet with the Filipino-level of tolerance for sour foods.
I love sour foods! We have a Vietnamese dish that is a sour soup but Mark isn't a huge fan.
this was a fun video to watch! you both went in heavy handed with the bagoong...my god. lol i'm craving green mango now...yum!
Maybe spoon of bagoong as a wheel punishment on the lives lol
@@ItsJamesandMark now THAT would be entertaining. lol i think james would fare a little better than mark if that was the punishment. LOL
Those are good quality salted eggs. You know when they’re good quality when it has oil like that.
Oooh good to know. We had no idea what to make of the eggs!
Its actually a egg salad its good with a small size cut same as tomatoes and onions
Yess with the texture inside you wouldn't even need mayo or anything, it'd be perfect!
I personally prefer ripe mangoes with pink bagoong (raw bagoong dyed w/food coloring and what's used in the pork binagoongan you guys ate) cuz I love the stronger sweet/salty contrast, lol. For the egg, salt cures it, so that's why it has a sandy texture. I like to pop it in the microwave with rice and mix it with tomatoes and some banana ketchup, and that helps tone down the saltiness.
Love all the recommendations, thank you!
Your guys' face with the salted eggs!! hahaha!! We cube the tomatoes and the salted eggs and mix it together...like a chunky salad. Then we eat it as a side dish with longonisa or tocino and rice or fried fish and rice.
Should have just face timed you while we went shopping!! You're our Filipino lifeline!
@@ItsJamesandMark Any time!! Hehe! Or you can PM on IG! Didn’t you guys buy some Tocino and longonisa last time you went? You should cook some up this weekend and try it with the salted eggs and tomatoes…and of course rice. Hehe!
Bagoong is pronounce in 3 syllables as BAH - GO - ONG. 👍
Noted!! No one corrected us so far lol
HAHAHA!! I AM DYING!! Thank you for trying it! You guys went in on the bagoong 😂😂
Luckily I could handle it, Mark was in like a salt shock lol
@@ItsJamesandMark lolll even with the salted egg you guys went in 😂 my mom usually cubes up tomatoes, even some mango and mixes it with the egg. Then you can eat it with tocino.. I think I saw you guys buy that last time!
@@chibimoon14 Yeah we totally butchered the fourth dish, oops
with the unripe mangos sometimes we dip it in fishsauce or salt its good either way
Yes I love it with fish sauce too
and for the salted duck egg its suppose to be a side dish crush it real good then put on some dice tomatos and cucumber main is always SILOG meals
Mark was Excited about that cucumber lol loved the video you two❤️🥰💙
The lady behind him silently judging him at that part though lol
Lol yeah I just went back and watched that😂🤣judgmental much 😂🤣she probably wanted that one🤭
🥒 🥒 🥒
Yes, pancit canton is best to eat with fried or boiled egg. Nice vlog 👍🥰
Gotta get 🥚 for the next time!!
You should have mixed the tomatoes to the egg. Smash the egg first then combine it to the tomatoes..
Yup rookie mistake!!
THANK YOU FOR LIKING OUR FOOD.I SUBSCRIBE.ENJOY LEARNING NEW THINGS🥰
Absolutely love trying it. Welcome Lianne!
Mixed the salted egg, tomato, onions and cucumber to make it more delicious.
Definitely will do best time!!
You have to mix the eggs with tomatoes. That's the way to eat it.
Indeed, this is probably the 30th comment on this lol
few slices of bread is good to pair with the instant noodles.
Oooh never heard of that!!
The Fiesta spaghetti sauce reminds of the Ragu spaghetti sauce.
Oooh, is UFC more like Prego??
try dessert next time....fresh lumpia..halo halo..toron...
We bought pandan ice cream but haven't eaten it yet.
eating salted egg you should mix with tomatoes partner it with tinapa (smoke fish)
Yes, we're really curious eating it with fish!
@@ItsJamesandMark actually anything dried fish is perfect with salted egg. with bagoong it is perfect with steam veggies like eggplant and okra
Dang, I'm hungry now. Very curious about that pancit ramen now. 🤤
Dangerous to watch these videos late at night!
Great video
Thank you!!
that's when you know it's good salted egg when it oils up when cutting it.
Ahhh got it. Is there a preference over the first egg and the second one that had more of a peanut butter texture to the yolk?
@@ItsJamesandMark Nope. We never pick out brands or labels on eggs. We usually buy our eggs in wet markets and they're all just laid there crates by crates. No brand.
You have to try the salted egg in fried rice. I promise you it is delicious. The gritty feel will disolve once you prepare it in the fried rice. Just find a salted egg fried rice recipe on RUclips.
Thanks for the tip! Seems like we're poised to try it one more time!
@@ItsJamesandMark indeed 😊
@@ItsJamesandMark My new addiction is lao style papaya salad..I make it with 10 🌶 and even though my mouth is on fire the flavors keep me eating more 😄 🤣 😂
Wow
I'm eating mangoes with chili sauce
Yummo!
The fruit of mango is ok to eat
Yeah its better than the pit lol
James, I don’t think you got the right mango. It’s suppose to be sour mango with bagoong. It’s like our sour mango with sugar, chili and fish sauce. Thank you for trying it, so if you like it I will try it too. The Vietnamese way to eat sour mango is one of my favorite snacks.🤤
Well we got the hardest mango in the section where the mangoes were so 🤷♂️ lol. Feeling nostalgic and want to try it the Vietnamese way now.
@@ItsJamesandMark James, it’s not just the hardest mango, but the type of mangoes. It’s actually called sour green mango. Go to a Vietnamese grocery store and you will see different types of mango. The right one to eat with fish sauce is the sour green mango. You should ask your mom. Most Asian stores doesn’t carry it. Btw, they are very expensive…in AZ it’s $7.99 a pound.
@@loannealford1113 That's pretty pricy for something unripened lol
A sweeter and it becomes mushy
Yeahh
Congrats sweet girl
Even though my family is Asian we don't slurp our noodles lol. I know in certain Asian cultures they slurp noodles.
Did you get in trouble for slurping??
@@ItsJamesandMark I never get in trouble if i slurp they would just get annoyed lol. Like my younger brother loves to slurp noodles lol.
Well we wouldn't want to annoy anyone lol
“Sand” 😂
Hahaha no other way of describing it
It's not the right way to open that salted egg. Dont eat it directly u need to put a little amount of kalamansi or vinegar and slice the tomato in small pieces then mix it and eat.
Yup we learned after the fact lol
Cindy Tv 📺 is leaking 😭😭😭😁😁😁😁
Yesss you know I just had to!
9:06 never make that sound again plz ...
I'm planning to make that very noise when we're reunited in a few weeks!
Your facial expressions are quite odd. Pancit canton you bought are instant noodles(ramen) they are good with baby boy choy so it's not too salty, (they are not the one you use for Pancit canton dish). Spaghetti sauces more variety and more choices just like when u buy different brands of pasta sauce.
The salted eggs you cut them in the middle- you mixed them with tomatoes and onions in a bowl all together- you guys learn to make them properly ( you don't eat just the egg itself- it's like the century egg u eat it as a salad not by itself).
*Your video is a bit disappointing .
You didn't research on how it's done. Make a do over of this video and learn to make it the right way. Maybe ask a Filipino friend how to make it & make a new video. )
What makes our facial expressions odd? That's how we truly reacted to what we tried. Yes, we misunderstood how to eat the salted egg but went off what we read in the comments, now we have a better sense of how to prepare it if we were to do it again.
who cares
We're gonna guess you don't!
