    Great job taking your time and going through the install process with your boy! I just ordered mine, and now I'm excited to go through the install process with my son, too.

    Thank you this is great to see someone do this for the first time just like the rest of us. Did lowering the hing pins reduce the effort required to mate the snaps on the sides? I have been struggling with mine. I have a space heater inside the truck bed to soften the canvas so I can stretch it and still havn't got them all snapped yet.

      Thanks for watching I hope it was helpful. Yes lowering the pins made it a lot easier. I would say easy…but easier. Now that it’s been on I’ve taken it down several times for various reasons and it snaps back much easier then the first time.

    20:05, what the point of that rear window bar? I just installed mine without it. Been doing fine for like a week now

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  4 месяца назад

      It keeps the rear window a little tighter to the tailgate for a better fit. It also makes it easier to roll up to put in the clips but I wouldn’t say you have to have it - as you are already experiencing.

    I noticed during your install while you were in the garage and it was completed you had a fair few creases and wrinkles in the canvas but when you had it outside in the rain they seemed to be gone. Did they just work themselves out on their own over time or did they come out when you readjusted everything. I have quite a few wrinkles in one side of mine but not the other.

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  Год назад

      The wrinkles did work themselves out over time, parking in the sun seemed to expedite it. I would check that your adjustable buckle straps are snug as that will help too. If I fold it up for a few days it will restart the process but it’s not really an issue. Thanks for watching!

    Are you serious!! I’ve been messing with mine for 2hrs and still wasn’t able to snap on all the buttons because it’s too tight, looks like I’ll mess with the tension tomorrow since it’s dark right now.

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  Год назад +2

      Yes it was a real struggle! Hopefully yours is going much better with the tension adjusted. I feel like the directions should have led with that and/or came on the loosest setting from the factory.

    Would that flap that hangs over the tail gate be able to go on the inside of the bed? I know that little bit of water would get inside the bed. But I want to be able to open and close my tailgate with out have to undo the back window. Nice truck by the way.

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  Год назад +2

      So the flap that hangs over the tailgate doesn’t stop you in any way from opening the tailgate without undoing the back window however I’ve found I need to hold it up a little when closing the tailgate. If you don’t that flap will try to fold under the bar as you shut the tailgate and get jammed up. It’s not as hard as it sounds many times I’m trying to close the tailgate while holding something in one hand so I’ve gotten it down to be able to close the tailgate with one hand 98% of the way and then with that same hand while shutting the tailgate use my fingers to lift up the flap and finish closing the tailgate. I realize that sounds complicated but it’s not that hard, then you don’t mess with the back of the cover. Hope that helps. Thanks on the truck compliment too!

      I am not using velcro or magnets on the tailgate.. you figure out how to use tailgate alone pretty quick.

    I just ordered mine. I am waiting for the shipment confirmation. I was wondering how long it took you to have yours delivered?

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  Год назад

      I just checked my emails to see the timeline, I ordered mine 12/18, it shipped 12/19 and I received it 12/22. Hopefully you receive the same service, even though I get spoiled from Amazon 2 day shipping I was happy with that.

    Do you get water inside?

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  5 месяцев назад

      I have on rare occasion gotten a small amount of water inside near the bottom of the tailgate after driving in heavy rain but I don’t think that’s related to the topper. It did come with some sealant like for a tent to waterproof it and I actually didn’t use it.

    Man I had the same issue getting the snaps done on my Power Wagon. Took me an hour.

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  Год назад +2

      Yes! That wasn’t fun at all. Knowing now that I could have started with the bars on a lower setting to save some tension I could probably do another topper a little easier.

    Are your windows on the topper? I can’t tell. I see you can order tinted panels.

    • @nickjeeps
      @nickjeeps  Год назад +1

      I have the standard clear windows. I was disappointed I couldn’t order with tinted windows it seems I could only order tinted windows in addition. A friend of mine who had one before said the clear windows are fine and after having it I’d agree. Because there are no side windows it is so dark in there you really can’t see anything inside without being right on it.
