This game is made by Crate Ent. Same makers of Grim Dawn and I poured over 400+ hrs into that game. Ive never played a sim game before, but I might try this out just to support this company. Kudos to these guys on two great games and I look forward to a Grim Dawn 2 in the future hopefully.
Grim dawn 2 was confirmed during one of Zantai's Farthest Frontier showcases, but I guess it's gonna take a while...

Zantai is an employee at Crate (Designer) and he usually does the showcases, he did it for GD back in the day as well as now for FF. Head on over to crate entertainment's youtube channel and look for the video 'Farthest Frontier - First look'. I'm glad games like this are still being made, because Banished was one of my favorite games - it's unfortunate a sequel was never made/the original game just stopped being worked on.
It crazy how Banished after nearly a decade still influences so many games.
err... there has been quite many games like this since 80s.

Check the ANNO series is from the late 80s is actually the MATRIX of this top down critical thinking games.
A real shame that Banished just got abandoned the way it did.
As if, lol. Banished also mostly stole. Original ideas in gaming are nearly dead since quite a while. Want proof for my claim? People love a game where you have to be an UPS driver because it's "creative" (Death Stranding). That's how dead gaming is. And now we have this.. Like number 1000+ of city builders. Wow. So much originality.
Im really looking forward to play this game! It looks great and feels realistic. The field management and the amount of time it takes to get fields ready just blow my mind.

SO happy to have come across this as I just sat down and felt like no game I have available at the moment really hit the spot. Was just about to launch Banished but just didn't feel like it. This looks like such a leap forward and I can't wait to give it a go! Thanks for the great content and introducing me to Farthest Frontier! :)
This game's interface looks so good, I especially like the little bar that shows you what season you're in, it's incredibly well detailed
The "fish deposits" reminds me of my youth as a goldfish miner. I was a minor miner. Not much luck with silverfish mining, however. Now, of course, goldfish comes in cracker form found conveniently at your local supermarket.

I've been eyeing that game for a while--not sure if it will ever come to fruition but the dev is truly passionate about it. Seems a bit overtly fixated on visual details which as a designer I can appreciate but sounds like the latest adjustments to the game has broken the AI and various other core components. It looks absolutely stunning but I'm not confident in their ability to finish the game. Hope they do though, but this game, this game looks phenomenal and I get to play it in 12 days!

The art on just the main screen of the game made me interested in it.

This game looks sweet. Like it has so much potential. It looks like its an early age combination of city building, frozenheim, banished, anno, etc.
I’ve scoped out so many games because of Raptor. Y’all already know. Also I’m curious to know, will there be a gameplay review of SOD2 when their giant update drops? I’ll be all over it like a hound on a pork chop myself, but I thoroughly enjoy watching Raptor bringeth forth the glory of Raptoria to that game too.
Raptor and Splattercat and a bunch more do more for getting obscure but fun games into the public eye than any marketing campaign.

Just discovered this game yesterday andI'm so hyped. It reminds me of Settlers 3 or 4, but then infinitely better and more expansive. Probably gonna get this as soon as I can :)
When u build the fence around your crops make sure u put a gate in or u will not be able to tend to the crops and anyone in the crop area will starve to death as they will get trapped in the gated area! I ran into that issue twice before realizing I needed the gate lol!
I think I would have placed the town center in between the large lake and the mountain in an effort to take advantage of the natural defenses.
This looks really fun, can't wait to see what else they do with it

A better looking and deeper Banished is a great start. The trouble I have seen with this style of game is that they are very cold. It doesn't take long for the settlement and its people to start feeling like just a machine and mindless units. If the Devs can make this feel like governing a real group of people they will have a big hit in FF.
You seem to be suggesting playing the game as a digital villager would be more entertaining then as the god, or tyrant. Normally town, city, empire builder games make players the god and throw disasters at the god to see if a solution is successfully used, or not. The satisfaction comes for the player if they can keep the digital villagers alive through each disaster and plan well for the next one.

I still want to play as the godlike mayor. I just want to play as the godlike mayor of a population that act like real people. I don't feel any motivation to keep the villagers alive if they never felt alive in the the first place.
The puzzle of how to grow the town was enough when I first played settlement/city sims but I've played many such games since then and it just isn't enough now.
@@TrentCantrell I can understand losing interest in builder games for a settlement, town, city, empire, and etc. Once the process of being the god for the little digital folk is understood, it takes a lot of the mystery and challenge of the game away. Of course it isn't just the god games players tend to burn out on. I recently burned out on ARK survival evolved, but it took me more than a year, were as most other new players only lasted around 15 minutes. Their avatar's bodies were all over the maps when the game was offered Free-2-Play for a week.
This game is excellent for us urban architects, it helps us understand the relationships between each variable in the urban environment, it should also be of use to politicians who have no idea how to sustain a city.

Personally i would probably get it myself after some updates come out while i watch some playthroughs from a few people.

This game puts a strain on most PCs, so you will need a good one with high FPS and processing power.
This looks a lot like Settlement Survival which is a pretty hardcore survival game, although it doesn't have any military aspect to it

Farthest Frontier is one of the very few EA games worth getting rn. He has a solid roadmap and release date planned. it's the Grim Dawn developer they will deliver a solid product that is fun. I will be getting this game.

I;ve been keeping track of this game for a while now and i can't wait for tomorrow when it drops
This looks very much like Life is feudal: forest village(Lif). Seems nice. Most of the feature you mentionned in this publication are similar, except there is no immigration in LiF, the next generations of people in LiF all offsprings of the first couple of settler, which surprisingly does not create genetic problems. LiF is also island based, contrary to this one.
I may be very much interested in this one as I was in Lif, as all strategic building games. These types of game are awesome, when most of the time your main enemy is yourself.

It seems like a lot of the features etc are very similar to Banished, but more developed. Very excited for the release, used to play Banished a lot a few years ago and have been waiting for a similar hardcore title :)
I lived in a town where one of the main exports was smoked fish (the other being lobster) and I honestly looooved the smell of the smokeries going. I miss it some days!

Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom is a pretty underrated game, great for its time. I'm surprised you know of it, but back in the day it used to be my favorite city-builder.
You mentioned Anno 1800, Banished and Dawn of Man and compared this game to them - all games I enjoy. Wishlisting Farthest Frontier now.
Also it seems to take more than half a season to finish the townhouse, I think they need to tweak the time system a little or let us tweak it in map settings before we start a game.
