Don't project your experience on other people's lives. And Sarah and Leila don't have a broken family, they have a blended family. Children suffer the hurt caused by the animosity and lack of love between their parents and that happens kahit hindi hiwalay ang mag-asawa.
Parents staying together for the sake of a "whole family" are unknowingly inflicting the same, if not worse, damage on their children. The same goes for the parents na naghihiwalay lang for the sake na makawala na sa relasyon without considering how they could protect their kids from the situation.
Ogie could have done just that, he could have just left Michelle and their daughters for good. Michelle could have just shunned Ogie and Regine and Nate out of her and her daughters' lives. Regine could have chosen to not have anything to do with Ogie's older kids. Michelle and Regine could have been enemies. But guess what, they decided not to because they know that their relationship will affect Sarah and Leila the most and if you can see the kids in their family now, you will know that they are reaping the positive effects of their parents and step parents' genuine effort. It was only their parents' marriage that failed, not their family; that their parents may not live together, but they are not abandoned; that they're step parents aren't there to take their mom and dad away but to become an additional source of support for them as they grow.
A family with both biological parents together doesn't guarantee happiness. A child's outlook in life and emotional state are not reliant on his or her parents' marriage but on how the people who matter treat, nurture, and make a child feel.
It's unfortunate that you suffered from the negative effects of your parents' separation, but that doesn't mean it's wrong for other couples to part ways because they realize they are in love and happier with others, and that they can still be there for their kids even if they are no longer married. That's what Michelle and Ogie did and the fact that Mark and Regine joined in with 100% support is a bonus that made things even better not only for Leila, Sarah, and Nate but for everyone involved.
