I was having the same problem with my 2004 Mini Cooper S. The high beams would turn on when turning on the blinker to turn right. My wiper switch was just fine. I ordered the switch and then watched this video. All you have to do is replace the switch that is acting up. Don't replace the whole thing if you don't need to. All it took me was 5 minutes. (1) remove the two lower torx bits. Pull off the plug around the ignition switch. Gently lower the lower cover. You don't need to remove the upper cover. Its a little more tight this way but very doable. See video at 2:48. There is a brass colored screw that you need to remove. Gently work the switch out a bit and remove the cable connector in the back of the switch. Put the new switch back in and reverse the instructions above. Super easy. Another thing to remember is to order the correct switch. Mine has the computer button that switches between temperature and speed on the speedo. Some do not. Later models (05 + ?) have a colored end. Have fun.
Model shown is r53 .... probably “S” model which is different from r56 (2008). That is the model number & year I need. The removal of the bottom half of the plastic column cowl (lower housing trim). It does not have the two T30 Torx screws as shown. Cannot find alternate fasteners that hold trim.

Also guys don’t forget to disconnect the battery first
I only need to replace the indicator switch, surely I don’t need to remove the entire steering wheel?
Merci 🙏🏼👌🏽
hi.i see that you use a different replacement stalk ,with red/yellow light and the trip button.did you tried if working?
+pascal k tried but not working :(
Does this work or do you have to reprogram the trip button?
+Jodie Maddock it doesn't work where the display should change, I only have temp in C or F
Remove the steering angle sensor
is it neccesary to remove the ring for replace both stalks??
Far easier to remove the steering wheel first
Not need replace sleep ring
need to decode with ncs expert
Dame dude, put the camera on a tripod! All the unnecessary ballistic moving around is causing motion sickness...
Ridiculous music!
