    I've been touring with mine for 5 years now with nothing but compliments along the way from fans and FOH. These drums are so good I've only brought out my PHX kit for special occasions. Yamaha, dollar for dollar, has the best drums and hardware on the planet, bar none!

    I've been playing 45 years and I'm getting this kit! What a great price too.

    Those two top toms were so powerful yet musical at the same time and they weren’t too dead and didn’t ring too much either. Looks and sounds like the set for me. Incredible drummer for the demo too!

      Thank you! It was just a (quick) and easy (now cheap) camera recording! Also kinda proves the drummer does make the sound on any drum, doesn't it?

      Did you get them? You can't go wrong, I just finished a 28 date Tour and used the Stage Customs and got nothing but good compliments on how good they sounded by the fans, and even quite a few sound guys asked what they were because they were so easy to control in the mix. Evans UV1 tops and G1 clear bottoms, heavyweight coated snare top w/snare side 300, and the Emad2 bass drum pack.

    It’s easy to call a drum set entry level at the price tag the stage customs are , but these aren’t entry level drums lol. Some of the best sounding drums out there. Yamaha makes the best drums on the planet

    I own two of these kits, and I get a lot of compliments on their sound. Both are 22 10 12 16 5.5x14. Both have emad2 front and rear Heads. The batter heads on one kit are ec2's on the toms and a coated g1 snare. The other is UV1's on the toms and a Hendry coated head. But for the money nothing on the market compares. Period

    I have just upgraded to this kit from TAMA Imperialstar which is a very good kit but in the entry to mid level and Poplar shells! The SCs are Birch 100 percent so this would make it mid to low level pro! It sounds awesome

    Wish he would have played more on the toms. We mostly got to hear the snare drum and cymbals.

    Entry level price, entry level drum set is far from what it is. I own three stage customs & a recording custom and would put the stage custom against the recording custom any day of the week

    Entry level kit? Thanks for making me feel good about spending $1000 on a 7 piece stage custom as an upgrade from a Mapex Tornado 😬

    • @dropbearattack

      Kyle Curran
      Don't worry about the labels, I'm an eighties/nineties type of guy when it comes to drums.
      I have cut my gigging kits down to three; a Sonor performer plus (6 ply beech shells) a pearl BLX (6 ply birch) and an early stage custom still with the full length lugs, they all sound different but the difference between all three is negligible, the sonor and pearl kits have slightly more bass or bottom end but those kits originally cost thousands more and the stage custom more than holds it's own against both of them.
      The stage custom series is now and has been the best deal in drums for decades , at the end of the day it's all about sound but the yamaha mounts and hardware push this kit over the top for value.
      There is not much that is entry level about these drums and I don't see any mass produced drums that are thousands of dollars"better".

    • @markomarkovic5729
      @markomarkovic5729 5 лет назад +5

      I think Gigmaker/Rydeen is an entry level, Stage Custom is in medium class, and in my opinion it's the best kit in its class

    • @thecowboydrummer
      @thecowboydrummer 5 лет назад +5

      Yea those stage custom are not entry level definitely a pro level kit in the mid range. Just because they are priced lower doesn’t mean anything. Slap some emperors on there and that thing will sound like a collectors

    • @Vivi2372
      @Vivi2372 5 лет назад +1

      It's more intermediate than entry level but you still got a great upgrade there. These Stage Custom birch kits these days, as far as sound goes anyway, are easily pro level drums being sold at a hell of a price. Now obviously you lose a lot of options and stuff because they're not a pro level kit and they have to make cuts here and there, but they're damn good. I've owned several kits over the years, got away from drumming for a while, but now that I'm back at it these are going to be my next kit and I have no problem saying they hang in there right beside all of the higher level gear I've owned over the years in every way that actually matters.

  • @shotgundrums
    @shotgundrums 4 года назад +4

    Entry level compared to what?... the most expensive part of the kit will surprise you; it’s not the shells, it’s all that beautiful hardware...brass or chrome/nickel coated cast zinc. Stage customs sound great and they’re priced right because they’re everything you need and nothing of what you do not.

    90% of the sound quality of a drum set is the player’s touch. With Tommy’s hands, even a My Kitty drum kit would sound great. Just sayin’

    I don't comment much on videos which are not Christian based. However I will make and exception to state this is exactly how my State Custom Birch drums sound. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bragging, I'm simply stating a fact for those who are listening for a video which expresses the way Yamaha stage custom birch drums sound ..... My base Stage Custom birch kit sounds exactly like this one.....

    • @klank67
      @klank67 5 лет назад +1

      Christian based ... lol

    • @danitewatchman6538
      @danitewatchman6538 5 лет назад +1

      @@klank67 The point was not Christian based ... It was Engineering based ... I suppose you didn't actually read what I stated before making a snide comment. The Engineering facts remain that drum shell material has almost nothing to do with the sound of a drum...... My case in point would be the YD-7000 sold in the USA in the 1970s VS the 2016 (latest) version of the Stage Custom which have all birch shells.
      ...........................................
      The YD-7000 have the same sustain and projection and tone as the Early Recording Custom (YD-9000), while the Stage Custom chokes out that sustain and projection and tone, in exchange for a "Fat" sound through the rounding (more wood exposure) of the back side of the bearing edge.
      ........................ Opinion now being stated..................
      I think the changing of the Birch bearing edge was accomplished for two reasons, The first of which was to change the sound of the Stage Custom so a birch shell drum costing 650 us would not compete with the more expensive Recording Custom..... And Second because the drums were made shorter in length in order to save money on the expense of birch, where shorter drum shells have a tendency toward increased ring....... Drums today are marketed as "Fusion" however those smaller drums are just a way to sell the consumer something they demand Maple, Birch and Poplar shells, while maintaining cost.
