I just wish more Superman figures came with a smiling head sculpt
What I love about this is that the cape covers most of the weird looking joints
I think Mcfarlane could learn a few things from this figure for their whole line. Just some things to push their figures a big step forward without going into premium territory.
That folks is a fully function ab crunch. That's what I want to see in Mcfarlane figures. It is possible without going full Yamaguchi. Same with aesthetically pleasing hip/upper leg joints.
Single jointed knee cut is interesting.
Not my style this figure but thanks for the review. A little dissapointed you didn't review your Mafex Knightfall Batman.

Now that I see in the market, I think theres not a superman that has a smiling face, that is weird.
For the cloth cape, I found the plastic insert to be pliable enough that you can bend it to sit better. That being said, I used a custom cape I had from an eBay purchase and it worked perfectly.
Aside from the minor proportion issues (and the knee cap), this looks fantastic!
Beautiful figure! The only thing that bugs me is the knee cap pokes away from the joint when fully bent. But it is very full of coolness!!! Great review, once again.
Great idea with tucking the cape ends into the neck. Looks way better imo. Fig is cool. Bit too anime for me. I would get the regen exclusive BBTS version and use him as an alt supe in the collection. Thanks for the vid!
Just opened mine last night after this review I really enjoy him a lot but my one gripe is he can’t look down to well just with the head. But I like both capes the soft goods one is good for normal poses and the articulated one is good for flight poses.
I noticed that too (looking down). The top of the neck sculpt juts up in the front, so it prevents any downward articulation. Thankfully, the base of the neck has articulation that can compensate somewhat, but still an odd choice. Unless it was for aesthetics; which would be a first for Yamaguchi, where looks overrode articulation lol.
The belt flaps are an odd choice and I wish they would just get rid of the kneecap bit, it's unnecessary to just stick out like that. Revoltech were my first import figures and every release, I wonder if I should just only get Yamaguchi figures. Really solid figure and makes me like a design I'm not the biggest fan of.

Really great job by AY on this guy imo & a definite pickup for me. Was hoping to see a comparison to AY Batman but maybe you sold your's, idk. Too bad the AY WW scale is so much smaller than Supes & Bats as could have been an awesome trinity display imo. Also wouldda been nice if AY included a soft goods cape too with the Bats reissue (but they didn't). Thanks for the detail & always entertaining review!
Tbh with the way Mcfarlane makes Wonder Womam and absolute giant, heck even DC icons made her way taller than Superman and Batman. I don’t mind a shorter Diana
@@MJAranas Unfortunately compared to AY Bats & Supes she looks like a teenage kid being that short. Appears AY went cheap & used their Psylocke body rather than giving WW her own mold in a scale comparable to Bats.

It will be great if they make Amazing Yamaguchi Hal Jordan Green Lantern , Martian Manhunter, SHAZAM,CYBORG and Aquaman. Also Mary Marvel and Starfire

If you flip the pieces on the hard plastic cape so that the emblem lines up on the inside, you can get way better poses out of it. Kinda wild, but I hated mine until I did it.
Recently ordered this guy a few days ago, I’m really happy this guy exists because new 52 Superman is my favorite incarnation of the man of steel and it always bummed me how all his new 52 inspired figures really weren’t that good
I took a heat gun to the plastic cape insert to mold it closer to the neck line

Got the figure today on a very nice sale($40) and I got to say this.
Agreed you have to pop the neck and toss that plastic tab for the cape. You can heat it up to be more flush but nothing will beat just having the cape under the neck.
I think cutting a little hole is best so you don't yank it out.
The only thing I don't get is the knee. They really could just leave the knee portion on the upper thigh as opposed to attaching it to the lower leg. It doesn't hide any articulation.
Also my figures right leg likes to pop out.
Still I do stand by my statement months ago that Mcfarlane could learn from their approach.

The yamaguchi figures with these new knees all seem to have the same issue where they are really loose. It makes the articulation feel less satisfying to pose
Didn't pre order this when I had the chance since I don't usually buy higher end figs and now I'm scrambling to find one online huhu
Where’s your review for the mafex Knightfall Batman?
Tbh I feel like this is the most disappointing figure in the yamaguchi line so far, it's like a hundred dollars and for 20 dollars cheaper you can get an all might which is not only bigger but it comes with 4 heads, interchangable eyes, effects pieces and some onomatopoeia while this superman comes with basically nothing
Like yeah he comes with like 4 heads and a cloth cape but I expected something more for the price like maybe some heat vision effects
If the addition of the cloth cape is the reason for the lack of effects then I would've rather not have the cloth cape because how it connects is just ugly
Hopefully we see this figure in Aliexpress. Just for... reasons... Money reasons...

You always replace the wire if it breaks and if it breaks in a way that requires replacing.

I think it's great Amazing Yamaguchi finally included a soft goods cape like they should have done with Batman, but unfortunately, it's just badly made. As you pointed out, it doesn't sit well around his neck and the stitching around the edges is way too big and amateurish looking. I ended up just using the plastic cape-at least this one looks better than the monstrosity of a cape that came with Batman.
Disappointed they didn't put any English text on the back of the box - I miss the days of Batman saying "Snacks at this hour?".
